GlossyBox is a beauty subscription that sends five deluxe and full-size products to your door every month for $21 (with free shipping to the U.S.). You should expect to discover new brands of hair care, makeup, and skincare in each box, wrapped up nicely with a different theme each time.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

FYI: GlossyBox sometimes sends out multiple variations of the box during some months. So there may be some variation between what we review and what you receive.

First Impressions

I was absolutely thrilled when I saw this month’s GlossyBox. It was on point with the theme this month, ‘Moonlight Glow,’ featuring a galaxy of beautiful blues and purples, with a few snowflakes tossed in to keep us in the holiday spirit. But what I absolutely loved was that this box is actually a tin, like something my grandma used to get butter cookies in. It’s aesthetically pleasing and definitely reusable.

Each month GlossyBox arrives with a booklet that includes a list of all the products included in that month's box.

What's Inside The Box

LARUCE BEAUTY Tapered Blending LR120, 1 piece - Retail Value $28.00

Laruce Beauty makes nice brushes, and I’m always happy to add another one of theirs to my collection. This is a nice eye brush. The texture of its handle is great. I love the ‘studded’ surface because it makes it so much easier to hold. Nothing annoys me more than dropping a makeup brush especially when I’m in a rush. The bristles on this brush feel sturdy yet soft to the touch. It was gentle on my eye when I used it to apply eyeshadow, and it made application quick and easy. Another feature I love is the labeling on the handle of this brush. I always appreciate it when the type of brush is clearly stated. I’ll definitely be keeping it in my arsenal for when it’s time to break out a new eye brush.

LASPLASH COSMETICS Moonlight Glow Face Palette, 11.2 g - Retail Value $34.00

I love this palette. The golden kiss of ‘Ethereal Highlight’ was to die for. I’m a huge fan of highlighters. It’s one of the easiest products to apply and can really glam up a look quickly, and this shade is spot-on for my skin tone. This multi-use palette also includes two blushes and a bronzer. Each shade was very pigmented, soft to the touch, buildable, and blendable. I love the natural-looking flush the ‘Midnight Rose’ blush gave my face. I was also impressed with how lightweight the formula was, in general. I like the idea of being able to travel with this multi-use palette to limit the number of products I need to take with me on the go. That being said, if you do choose to travel with this palette, be very careful. When I said the shades were soft, I meant very soft. They can easily break. The Midnight Rose shade was crumbled when it arrived. I’m going to try a DIY fix and see if I can solidify the shade again. Wish me luck.

BATISTE Dry Shampoo in Original, 30 g each - Retail Value $7.98

Front and Back Batiste Dry Shampoo for GlossyBox December 2021

This was an interesting product for me to receive. I have thick, very curly hair that craves oil. While some people are always looking for the best products to rid their hair of oil, I instead am always looking for the best products to keep my hair moisturized. That said, I did spray a bit of this dry shampoo. The scent is pleasant and definitely long-lasting but I found it to be a bit overpowering. I prefer scents that don’t overstay their welcome. The size of this spray is a bit on the small side but that makes it perfect for travel, which I do appreciate. I will be passing along this dry shampoo to one of my finer-haired friends who is sure to get good use out of it.

VAHDAM INDIA Green and Herbal Tea Bags, 3-piece - Estimated Retail Value $3.00

I myself am not a big tea drinker. It all tastes like dirty dishwater to me, without the caffeine rush of coffee, which can taste equally as bad, but the payoff is worth it. However, I do enjoy ginger, so I tried the Turmeric Ginger, and while I do like the zip the ginger gave this tea, it seemed like all the sugar in the world couldn’t make the beverage as tasty as I would have liked. The aroma is definitely ginger-heavy, but the color is more reminiscent of turmeric. The flavor is smooth, with just a bit of a bite from the ginger, and a little bit of honey went a long way to improving taste. I do appreciate a warm, cozy winter beverage being included in the curation of this box. I’ll have to ask any avid tea drinkers to break it down for us in the comments and let us know if this tea tastes good to someone who enjoys tea.

ELEMIS Superfood Glow Priming Moisturizer, 20 ml - Retail Value $22.00

This moisturizer feels very luxurious to me and yet somehow still light. It was easy to apply and absorbed quickly into my skin, leaving behind just a touch of a shimmery glow. My skin looked bright and dewy while feeling soft and supple. The product has a light fruity scent that I didn’t find overpowering or irritating to my nose or skin. I really enjoy how it appears as if there are little specks of glitter twinkling on my face after applying. It’s almost like having just the right amount of highlighter but for the whole face. I was happy with how it brightened my complexion and how smoothly my foundation applied on top, but even without makeup, this moisturizer left my skin feeling hydrated and looking radiant.

SKIN RESEARCH LABS neuREFLECTION Complexion Perfecting Polish, 35 g - Retail Value $52.00

The first thing that caught my eye about this product was the packaging. The product itself looks a bit like paste and smells a bit like paint. But when I applied it to my skin, I was delighted to find that it was full of a superfine exfoliant. It’s similar to a leave-on mask except that you only have to leave it on for five minutes. It can be applied to wet or dry skin. I applied to my dry skin for a dry brushing effect. When I rinsed off the product, my complexion looked clearer and brighter, and my skin felt soft to the touch. I can see this product being excellent for anyone who has to wear a mask all day. The skin on my face underneath my mask always ends up feeling congested after several hours of being covered. But this polish went a long way into revitalizing my face and clearing my pores. It did a great job of sloughing off the dead skin cells, oil, and grime from the surface of my skin. I have to say, I’m very impressed with this product.

Verdict

I loved everything about this month’s GlossyBox; from the box design itself to the products inside. The Skin Research Labs perfecting polish was a treat. I loved how fine the exfoliant was and how well the product worked to brighten my complexion. Elemis’s priming moisturizer was very hydrating, and I loved the beautiful shimmer it gave my skin. While I’m not a huge fan of tea, the aroma and zippy ginger taste of the Turmeric Ginger did impress me. I really liked that both the Lasplash palette and the Laruce Beauty brush complemented each other in this box. The multi-use palette and this sturdy travel-sized brush are very convenient. Lastly, the Batiste dry shampoo seems like a great product to extend the life of your wash, and I’m happy to pass it on. Overall, I really did enjoy this month’s box. The aesthetic was delightful, there was a diversity of products, and the value was there.

I swear that I saw a review for the January box, but I can’t find it now. Is it still on the site here somewhere?

This was a good box especially for $21!! I bet to keep up with the competition they will be raising prices in the near future…wouldn’t surprise me anyway. Seems everything has went up, & they make these promises of “bougie, new, well-known brand” products & do not deliver. Or so it seems for the most parts. Plus Idk the sub box craze just TOOK OFF and didn’t slow down and I think a lot of ppl are on overload!
Thx for the review!

This is nice and all but I don’t recall seeing the exfoliating polish anytime in the spoilers. I may have ordered just for the tin and that, if so. Did anyone besides MSA get this produce in their box?

There is a mistake in the RV in this review. BATISTE DRY SHAMPOO IN ORIGINAL, 30 G EACH – RETAIL VALUE $17.98 is incorrect. I think you used the price of the 4.2oz size. The size in the box is smaller, 1.06oz. GLOSSYBOX says the MSRP of each is $3.99.

I noticed that too. A 1 oz can of dry shampoo makes me cringe (what is that, like five sprays? Lol). I found some non aerosol dry shampoo online and I absolutely love it. Just shake some of the powder in your hands and start rubbing away. The bottle lasts forever, works, and can easily be recycled as well. I just love win win win situations! ☺️
