Now, on to the items!
BERLIN SKIN Carrot Seed Serum, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $74
I love serums because they are an easy way to add a little extra to a skincare routine and this one has quite an impressive ingredient list! It is one of those lists with so many great things that I could write an entire review on it. But to summarize, this well-rounded serum has the good to promote brightness (vitamin C), smooth texture (lactic acid), fight acne, add hydration (aloe + glycerin), and provide anti-aging benefits (loads of antioxidants!). It also has this wonderfully medicinal scent that is really comforting. Another noteworthy element of this serum is that although it has so many things inside, it absorbs easily and leaves skin feeling soft and soothed after application. It is such a great choice for daytime wear, though you can use this anytime!
EDIBLE BEAUTY & Sleeping Beauty Purifying Mousse, 50 g – Retail Value $47
Though this pink mask was gorgeous and had a great scent, y'all know I tend to avoid coconut oil, and that ingredient is #4 on the list. Sure, it isn't a problem for everyone, but for a lot of people, it can really cause issues with acne and congestion. So use your best judgment here! Though this mask was created to sleep in, I think it is a better choice as a wash-off because then you can avoid leaving both coconut oil and clay on your face overnight. When used as a 20-minute mask it is actually really quite lovely and leaves skin feeling both clean and calm. One of the nice things about pink clay is that it is less drying than other types but still absorbs excess oil. It is also just really pretty which adds its own value if you are like me!
NAKED & THRIVING Rejuvenate Restorative Face Oil, 35 mL – Retail Value $72
I don't know if I have ever seen a prettier glass bottle. The whole vibe speaks to my love of Matisse and the fronds combined with the rich orange oil and the beautiful glass is basically art! And, as far as facial oils go, this one is more than just a pretty face. It has SO MANY beneficial oils inside: sweet almond, argan, rosehip, sea buckthorn, chia, and pomegranate. In addition to being mighty moisturizing, these oils also add antioxidants aplenty to the skin, helping protect against environmental stress and aging. And the scent is fantastic, a mix of herbs and sweet citrus, with a hint of rose. I wasn't even bothered by the lemongrass.
OSHAN ESSENTIALS Aloha Lip Vitality Balm, 7 mL – Retail Value $24
With winter comes angry and chapped lips. I generally sleep with some sort of lip sleeping mask beside my bed because I am also a lip chewer (ew, I know). I have been reaching for a mask from Laniege for years now but this stuff might be my new favorite. Interestingly, it comes in two different textures: balm or whipped. The balm arrived in my box and it is really dense and hard. I highly recommend using a scoop or little spatula for this stuff unless you live in a hot climate where it might be softer. The scent of this stuff... I cannot even describe how wonderful it is. It smells like sweet flowers and citrus with such a warming sensation. The balm itself is made of beeswax, shea, coconut oil, jasmine wax, and loads of other wonderful things that create a merger of moisture and fragrance that is unlike anything else. It has become a major part of my bedtime ritual and this balm clings to my lips and can still be felt in the morning. I have already recommended it to a friend who also loves it (and she also raved about the samples from the OSHAN team too!).
Verdict
This Laurel & Reed was exceptional. Seriously one of the best all year, IMO. The serum, oil, and balm knocked my socks off. The mask wasn't my favorite, but I can still appreciate the beautiful color and intent behind the mask. And the value? A whopping $217 for a $50 box. And the items inside are absolutely worth it. In fact, I recommend grabbing this box as a single purchase if you find yourself with a case of FOMO. It is a perfect box for this time of year and brings beauty to both your skin and to your vanity.
