Now, on to the items!
HUDA BEAUTY Mercury Retrograde Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $67
Ok, I was so excited when I saw this in my box this month. I have wanted this palette since it launched! Literally, it's like every single color I love is in one palette and there are these weird shifting and sheer glitters that I adore. Because they are on the sheer/subtle side, I can see some users being less excited about them, but it suits how I like to wear glitters really well. The mattes are smooth and easy to blend, though a few of them swatch a little patchy. And the metallics? Wow. The palette packaging itself is transparent pink acrylic and there are holographic elements all over. Want one for yourself? Sephora has it marked down to $33 bucks.
Aceology Rose Quartz Gua Sha - Retail Value $45
The retail price on this is laughable, but I like to keep a stash of these for clients and as little gifts. Gua Sha is such an easy way to enhance your skincare routine and also provide yourself with a nice massage. I like to keep mine in the fridge and use an oil serum for slip. The coolness makes my face feel instantly tighter and the chilly vibes help with redness. There is a helpful diagram on the back of the included box to get you started if you are new to this tool.
Christophe Robin Instant Volume Hair Mist with Rose Water - 5 fl oz - Retail Value $39
Hello, Mr. Robin! Welcome to my home. I love this brand. Their salt scalp scrub is a product Will and I will battle over whenever I bring it home. Technically, this mist is for fine hair, which I totally don't have. But that didn't stop me from enjoying this rose-scented mist. It does add a nice amount of fluff and volume to my hair without weighing it down, but this formula will likely be more dramatic on hair that isn't as long and heavy. Regardless, It is a great refreshing sort of spray on those days you might be between shampooing.
Moonlit Makeup Primed For The Night Eyeshadow Primer - 6 mL - Retail Value $18
I literally never use an eyeshadow primer. So I might not be the most discerning user of this product. I can speak to the pure beauty of the packaging and the general texture. It is smooth and velvety when blended onto the skin. As for longevity? I did notice a few extra hours from my Glossier eyeshadows after I chose to wear this just on one eye for the day. The color stuck around longer and, though it did crease, it was less dramatic than the non-primer eye. Am I a convert? Nah. But if you are already using a primer, this is absolutely a new one to try out.
VIKE Makeup Melt - 6.7 fl oz - Retail Value $24
I wasn't excited about this product because I consider my oil cleanser the ultimate makeup melter. And since I never wear that much, why bother with something like this? But, let's take a second to look at that ingredient list. I was expecting it to be riddled with alcohols or coconut oil, or something else I could complain about, but it reads a lot more like a skincare formula: witch hazel, niacinamide, sodium lactate, moringa, licorice extract, and more. Actually, nothing raises really any red flags for my preferences. There are quite a few preservatives at the tail end if you are sensitive to stuff like that but it's not a deal-breaker for me. The scent is a mild eucalyptus and this stuff really works.
Pretty Vulgar Love Birds Lip Duo - Retail Value $30
My last item is a duo of lippies. The red is a gorgeous shade but I found the matte formula to be the sort that dried down, feels thin, and flakes. There is also a gloss you can wear on top which turns it into more of a smooth liquid lip, which I preferred. I am really digging the cute packaging here.
Verdict
The total value of my BoxyCharm Premium box was $223 which is a fantastic value for a $39.99 box. And the curation was a homerun for me. Of course, that HUDA palette makes my heart skip a beat. And the hair mist and makeup melt were unexpected hits too. The gua sha will be used and I already have a regift recipient in mind for the primer. The lip stuff I am hanging on to because the red is truly gorgeous and the gloss makes it much more wearable for me.
