BarkBox is a reader-favorite monthly subscription box for dogs. They are now offering a monthly subscription, BARK Bright for doggie dental treatments for $30 a month or $25/month for six months. This box is designed to send a convenient monthly teeth cleaning kit for your pooch to freshen his breath and remove plaque over time.
Murray was blessed with fresh breath and a really nice set of chompers until he turned about 8 years old. He is now 10 years old, and his teeth, unfortunately, are starting to get more plaque which causes his breath, to put it gently, to be unpleasant. I've taken him for a few teeth cleanings, but they are so expensive and the effects only last briefly before he is back to his stinky self. We have tried different kinds of toothpaste and teeth cleaning toys and treats, but everything was either inconvenient or we just couldn't get Murray to cooperate with any cleaning routines. This easy system seems very promising for us, so let's get into it!
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
First Impressions
The BARK Bright Dental Box includes a tube of BarkBright's doggie toothpaste, dental sticks, and an informative card with directions.
This process seems simple and quick, and easy and enjoyable routine for Murray and me.
What's Inside The Box
Triple Enzyme Toothpaste, 1.89 fl oz
I never thought I would be excited about a chicken flavored toothpaste, but here we are. I was hoping he wouldn't run and hide like he has from various other teeth cleaning rituals, but this toothpaste made him drool. It is made of three enzymes that help to break down debris in your dog's mouth and clean his teeth over time. This product requires refrigeration after its first use.
30 Dental Sticks, 5.82 oz
Mur was just as excited about this product as he would be a bag of treats. The shape of each chew is designed to house a generous strip of toothpaste to serve to your pooch for a mess-free experience. Each dental chew has a tough texture to scrub the teeth while the enzymes in the toothpaste combine to break down plaque and clean your pup's mouth.
Honestly, this process couldn't be easier. This toothpaste is the perfect consistency for a mess-free application; it didn't run or drip out of the chew at any point in the process. Apply a generous strip of toothpaste inside the groove in the dental chew, and hang on while your dog happily chomps away.
Holding on to the chew helps slow down the process, giving the toothpaste more time to dissolve debris and more chomps gives the chew a better opportunity to scrub his teeth. Plus, it is quite the bonding experience.
We have a happy customer!
Verdict
BARK Bright may be the solution to Murray's unpleasant mouth odors and tartar. He absolutely loves the taste of the toothpaste and chews, a completely different reaction to when I introduced him to a peanut butter toothpaste and toothbrush combo. We have been using this system for a few days now, and I've already noticed a difference in his breath. Outstanding! Murray has had sensitivities to Greenies in the past, so I was a little hesitant at first, but he's had no problem digesting these and seems to be responding to them really well.
Value - Was This Box Worth It?
The Cost: $30 a month or $25/month for a six-month subscription, which means you could clean your doggie's teeth for $1 a day; I'd say that it is definitely worth it!
