The Products
Makeup Travel Bag
This travel bag was not listed in the monthly booklet. There isn't anything too fancy about it and it is a bit flimsy. It will work well to keep extra products in that I might not use every day or for travel items so if anything spills it will be an easy cleanup.
Ahava Mineral Hand Cream, 1.3 fl oz., Retail Value - $10.99
My hands are so dry which means I am constantly putting lotion on them. I like to have a bottle of lotion in my bathroom, in my bag, and near my kitchen sink. I am currently obsessed with this lotion so it got the prime spot, near my kitchen sink! I have been using this multiple times a day and I am happy to say that it has really helped my skin. I tend to get very deep cracks around my nails that can be very painful, but since I started using this hand cream I haven't gotten any cracks. This cream is made with aloe vera and minerals to soothe and restore your skin's moisture.
Skin Gym Youth Haus Glow & Go Eye Recovery Patches, 1 pack – Estimated Value $2.50 (buy a full-size 5 pack for $30)
I used to use eye patches before an event or an evening out before applying my makeup. It helped to make me look bright and awake. Honestly, though, I don't really go anywhere or have events these days, but I still love to use eye patches like this set. You can typically find me on a Sunday morning with an eye patch set on sipping my coffee while my kids are usually screaming nearby. These eye patches might be a new favorite of mine because they worked so well to help my tired eyes look awake and glowing. They are made with collagen, hyaluronic acid, and the duo of retinol and bakuchiol. You can apply these patches to clean and dry skin for 15 to 20 minutes to restore natural radiance in your tired eye areas.
Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, 0.7 oz – Estimated Value $12.80 (buy full-size, 3.5 oz for $64)
One of my favorite influencers recently posted about this cleansing balm and how much she loves it. She has been a long-time user of the product and posted again to say how it is a worthy try. Honestly, I think I squealed when I opened this month's box and saw this in there. I was so excited to try it not only because it got such a glowing review from someone that I have come to trust when it comes to beauty products, but because my skin tends to react really well to cleansing balms. This is a deep cleansing balm that is formulated without parabens, sulfates, mineral oils, silicone, petroleum & phthalates. It works to dissolve makeup, daily dirt, and other pollutants without stripping and drying your skin. Honestly, I don't think I ever want to not have this product in my skincare routine, it works so well! It removes makeup and buildup which allows my face wash to not have to work as hard, and then my skin is left feeling clean without being dry like you get with other makeup removers. I am still floored that this came this month!
Clarins Total Eye Lift Eye Concentrate, 0.1 oz – Retail Value $17.80 (buy full-size, 0.5 oz. for $89)
This eye concentrate is made with organic harungana extract, cassie flower wax, albizia extract and escin from horse chestnut, organic guarana extract and plant-based caffeine, organic shea butter, and D-panthenol to all help tighten the skin and smooth wrinkles for a "lift" effect. It also helps to reduce persistent puffiness and minimize dark circles. I seem to be receiving a lot of eye creams this month, but I really do have to test these with caution since my eyes are so sensitive. My Mom always tells me that my eyes are sensitive because they are so light blue (Thanks, Mom!), but I just want to be able to use a daily eye cream because I am starting to get deep laugh lines (Thanks, Dad!). Once again though, this cream irritated my eyes pretty instantly. While I wasn't able to try this product more than once, I am going to pass this along to my sister-in-law who is looking to up her eye cream game!
Estee Lauder Beautiful Magnolia, 0.05 fl oz – Estimated Value $2.77 (buy travel-size, 0.20 fl oz. for $28)
I always see ads for this perfume but have never had the pleasure of testing it. I was really excited to give it a try and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! This scent really has so many layers to it, I think that is what I love so much, and it has this lovely mix of earthy, feminine, with a hint of masculine scents that really worked for me. This has layers of magnolia petals, maté, water lotus, magnolia oil, solar gardenia, Turkish rose, cedarwood, sandalwood, and Illumina musk. This is a scent that I can see myself using daily because it is fresh yet bold without overpowering.
Barbor Hydra Plus Ampoule Concentrates, 7 bottles – Retail Value $29.95
The second I opened this product I was so intrigued by the packaging. Inside the box are 7 glass bottles of this hydration boost. This concentrated formula is a major boost for dehydrated skin that contains Hyaluronic Acid and a plant-based moisturizer. You can apply this formula to clean and dry skin by gently patting your face and neck. I have used two of these so far and am amazed at how much product comes in each glass bottle. I was able to really work the product into my face and neck, which I really love when I have enough product to give my neck lots of attention. My skin is very dehydrated right now so any product that moisturizes is going to be a win for me, but I can't explain how happy I am with this product. It makes my skin feel so fresh and hydrated without being greasy or oily. I wake up to glowing skin that doesn't feel dry.
Verdict
Macy’s Beauty Box was a huge success for me this month! Honestly, for a $15 box, I am blown away with the quality of products and the overall curation. I calculated a retail value of $76.81 (not including the makeup bag). The Elemis cleansing balm was hands down the golden ticket item for me this month because I had my eye on it before this box even arrived. I was truly floored when I saw the balm which rarely happens for me these days. The Hydra Plus was another product that I was so excited to try! I am loving the results that this hydration boost in a bottle is giving my dry winter skin. Plus, I really appreciate that the box came with so many glass bottles. The hand cream is another product that is saving my dry winter skin! It smells amazing and is working hard to keep those dry cracks away. While the eye cream didn't work for me personally, the product itself has great reviews so I am hopeful it will work well for my sister-in-law. This box has it all, it is inexpensive, the product quality is on point, and the curation always seems to work. This box truly is a beauty lover's dream!
