Back in 1998, Jerrod Blandino and Jeremy Johnson created the makeup brand Too Faced to help empower people with confidence through cruelty-free cosmetics, becoming a top selling brand. Today they are continuously creating innovative new products (hello lip plumper) and have been awarded titles such as the #1 Prestige Mascara in America. While Too Faced doesn't have a subscription box option, they do often have Limited Edition sets available for purchase and that's exactly what we are going to be checking out.
FYI – this set is still available, while supplies last.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
First Impressions
Packaged with an impressive amount of blush-colored tissue paper, this set safely arrived wrapped in plastic, inside of a large cardboard box.
Every Too Faced purchase lets you use choose two free samples when you check out. This is what I chose.
The Breakdown – What’s Inside This Limited Edition Box from Too Faced
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, 0.17 oz. (Travel Size) - Retail Value $15
Back in November, I contributed to an article Christen wrote about our forever favorites. Better Than Sex mascara has been an absolute must-have in my makeup bag for years, so clearly, I had to write about it. Not only is their packaging romantically chic, but their advertising is pretty appealing as well. Written right on the box are the results of 30 women applying 3 coats. While that is a very small pool of people, 100% of them saw dramatic volume and longer lashes while 98% said this mascara created a false lash effect, according to the brand. As an avid user myself, I have found that people either love this mascara or hate it. I obviously love it because I find it to create full, defined, long lashes that compliment my smokey eye look. My natural lashes are of a decent length and have a bit of curl, but without mascara they aren't very noticeable. When pumped up with this mascara, I have been asked on multiple occasions what type of lashes I use or where I go for extensions. Because this is quite expensive, I do try to wait for it to come on sale (check at Ulta around Christmas). I had not tried other versions of Too Faced mascara, so I was excited to give the "Damn Girl!" version a shot. Was it better? Will I be converting? Read below to find out!
Here is a comparison photo of my natural lashes versus lashes with 3 coats of "Better Than Sex" mascara. Little bit of a difference, eh?
Too Faced Damn Girl! Mascara, 0.2 oz. (Travel Size) - Retail Value $15
"Damn Girl!" is new to me, though has been on the market for a few years, and because I enjoy the "Better Than Sex" version, I didn't see any need to change it up. Honestly, I was really intrigued to give this a whirl because it too has mixed reviews. I noticed when I pulled the very full brush from the container, it looked clumpy and goopy, but that could also be contributed to the fact that it was sitting in my mailbox in -35 degree temperatures and didn't have long enough to fully come to room temp. The packaging is super fun and looks like a gem in my makeup case. But forget about the looks, how did it work?! The package states that 97% of people saw full-on volume, 100% said they saw intense black lashes, 99% said they saw long-wearing results, and 95% said they saw long-lasting curl. Personally, I couldn't tell a whole lot of difference between the two mascaras. I felt both gave a ton of volume, my lashes were intensely black, and I had long-wearing results (like made it through a full workday AND 5 matches of competitive volleyball long!) Looking super closely at my comparison, I may have noticed the "Damn Girl!" version created a more separated look, but overall, I couldn't tell much of a difference.
While the awful bathroom lighting didn't help to make things easier, I think both mascaras are pretty comparable - though I have to admit, the shiny gem shaped version did add some fun glitz to my makeup bag!
Too Faced Hangover Face Primer 0.68 oz. (Travel Size) - Retail Value $18
Living in Minnesota, winters are harsh on my skin. So harsh in fact that my face feels like a catcher's mitt and my knuckles actually bleed. Besides bundling up and wearing mittens, I have to increase the amount of moisturizer I use on my hands and face. Because dry skin looks terrible with foundation, I discovered this replenishing face primer to help revive my skin. Over the years I have been using this before putting on my foundation for a smooth and hydrated look. It dries fast, isn't greasy, and doesn't aggravate my skin. This is another makeup product I actively use and have been impressed with. (See the photos above for how the primer looks under my foundation.)
Too Faced Lip Injection Extreme, 0.05 oz. (Travel Size) - Retail Value $15
Another top seller at Too Faced is this instant and long-term lip plumper. Sticking with the theme, the packaging states that 97% of people said this product delivers instant results and leaves lips feeling moisturized. 93% said lips look fuller and plumper. I had not used this product previously, so again, I was excited to give it a try as like with most of their products it seems, you either love it, or you hate it. I was happy with the pretty little tube, and the fact that it came with a wand. The initial scent was very sweet and candy-like and glided on my lips easily. There was an initial tingling sensation that was similar to that of Vicks, but went away after a few minutes. After 5 minutes, I took a photo of my lips and noticed they were obviously glossier, a little pinker, and maybe a teeeeeeennyyyy bit plumper, but not incredibly noticeable. As a woman with small lips, I will take all the help I can get, and enjoyed this product just for the fact that it tasted good and made my lips shine.
Not great comparison photos, but there was maybe a subtle difference.
Too Faced Exclusive Makeup Bag
Last, but certainly not least, we received an exclusive Too Faced cosmetic bag. 9.5" X 6.5" in size, this pastel pink bag is adorned in a lovely floral pattern with some of the most popular Too Faced products animated among the branches. I love the addition of the peacocks and butterfly and the gold zipper completes it beautifully. I am a sucker for a fun cosmetic bag and the size is perfect for my makeup storage needs.

Key Takeaways
Knowing going into this purchase that I would thoroughly enjoy at least two of the Too Faced products that were part of this set, I was really excited to give a few of their other well-known products a try. Because Too Faced tends to be at a higher price point, I hesitate to purchase full size products that I'm not 100% sure about. Like I mentioned above, I have stuck with the "Better Than Sex" mascara because I know it works. Comparing the two mascaras side by side I discovered that I actually preferred the "Damn Girl!" version, which surprised me! While the lip plumper didn't give me the extreme results I was hoping to see, it made for a great gloss. I think this is a great set if you are looking to try some of the Too Faced brands top sellers at a slightly discounted price.
