Introduction
Before I dive into the 2022 spring Beachly box review, I just wanted to quickly introduce myself! I am new to reviewing Beachly and have to be honest that I'm pretty stoked to be doing so. I know I have some pretty big shoes to fill after Megan did such an amazing job reviewing Beachly for the past couple of years, but I am up to the challenge!
I currently live in Boise, Idaho, but grew up most of my life in the sunshine state. I've been missing my year-round sand and sun and the easy, casual beach lifestyle that comes with it quite a bit lately. (My friend's Facebook photos of heading to the beach while it's snowing here definitely does not help!)
To quench our beach cravings, my family and I always make a yearly summer pilgrimage down to Florida to get our fix. And even though I tell myself I'm not going to buy anything, I always come back with my suitcase filled to the brim with stuff I swear I can't get anywhere else. I'm basically a beach product addict. So, needless to say, this Beachly box was a welcomed sight on my doorstep!
Ok, enough about me. Now for the reason you all came here: the Spring 2022 Beachly subscription box!

Spring 2022 Items
Rays for Days Shorebreak Weekender Tote - Listed Value $120
This is a great little beach bag. Well, actually, it's not so little. It can easily fit enough stuff for a full day out. I was able to fit my kid's bathing suits, two rolled up beach towels, my wallet, phone, keys, and snacks inside the bag. The inside is one big area, but there is a smaller pocket that can fit items that you want to keep separate. I do wish the smaller pocket was just a little bit bigger though. It isn't big enough to fit my phone, so that has to go into the larger area and inevitably will get lost in the abyss. There is a zipper that closes off the entire bag which I always find extremely helpful. I'm not sure why, but stuff always seems to fall out of my bags!
The entire bag is made from canvas and it has a colorful design on the outside which is made from paper raffia. I don't know about any of you, but I had no idea what paper raffia was. I recognized the material since a lot of beach items are made with it, but until this review I never actually thought to look into it. So, I decided to do what any other normal person would do and Googled it. (The rabbit holes I go down after my kids are in bed and I've had a couple glasses of wine!)
I was surprised to find out that paper raffia is eco-friendly, recyclable, and biodegradable. The strands used are actually individually stripped off of a leaf from a specific type of Raffia Palm tree, a native palm to Madagascar. They cultivate the leaves and tear them into strips which are easy to work with and can be dyed any color. The tag also indicates that each bag is handmade, so will look a little bit different from the next. Never would I have thought so much work would have gone into this bag! I will definitely be using it frequently this summer!
Lost + Wander Seascape Cover Up Dress - Listed Value $118
Hands down my favorite item in the box! Y'all, this thing is cute. Like really cute. It actually might be one of my favorite items I've gotten in a subscription box yet. I have a couple go-to swim cover ups that I always pack for vacations (alongside the ratty t-shirts and running shorts I throw on when I'm just hitting up the neighborhood pool), but this one just made top of the list for our next beach vacay. I was sent the Luau print and it's got this great Hawaiian tropical vibe. I also love that it's a nice mixture of muted colors with more colorful ones.
The cover up buttons all the way down and has pockets on either side. You can either leave this buttoned up and throw it over your bathing suit or leave it open for more of a breezy look. I also absolutely love that I can tie this up and throw on a pair of shorts and actually look half-way cute after a day at the beach. It's light enough to let air flow through, but also has a decent weight to it and actually feels like you have something on when you are wearing it.
Heads up though! The cover up is made with 100% rayon and is hand wash only, so be sure not to accidentally throw this in the wash after a day at the beach!
Cleobella Fun In The Sun Packing Cubes - Listed Value $75
These packing cubes have an adorable beach vibe going on. A lot of the photos I've seen for these make them look like they are pink, but they definitely have more of a salmon color to them. Both have a mesh front side making it easy to see the contents and small handles for easy carrying. There are two sizes that come in the Beachly Box. The larger size is approximately 13.5" x 11" x 4" and the smaller one is approximately 9" x 9' x 1". These are definitely a fun addition to the usual solid colored packing cubes that most people have. My only concern with them is the zipper. They both have a larger, plastic zipper and in my experience these never last long. I hope I'm wrong though, because these are cute!
SKYLAR Salt Air Eau De Parfum Rollerball - Listed Value $29
The name of this scent is called "salt air". Does it smell like that? Well, no. But to be honest, I'd have been pretty impressed if they had somehow figured out a way to bottle up that amazing salty sea air smell! The full description mentions fragrance notes of driftwood, seaweed, and sea salt. I definitely get the gentle driftwood smell, but I also get notes of "coconut" and a "fresh" smell. To be honest, I actually got a vision of sitting poolside with a piña colada and being completely relaxed after putting it on. (Even while my kids were running around screaming...which was a win in my book!) So, while it doesn't necessarily smell like salt air, I enjoy the scent and think it's perfect to roll on after a long day under the sun. The rollerball is 0.33 fl oz and is a great size to throw in your bag when you are on the go!
Lotus and Luna Beachcomber Convertible Bracelet/Anklet - Listed Value $12
This was probably my least favorite item in the box. It's a really cute little bracelet and I love that the funds from it go to help end poverty in artisan villages in Thailand...but it's not for me. It looks like something I would give to my friend's six-year-old daughter as a thank you for watering the plants while we were on vacation. I'm 39 with skin on my hands that look like they've had a lifetime of cracking my knuckles, washing dishes, pulling apart legos, and more recently two OCD years of using hand sanitizer. Needless to say, it just looks weird on me. I don't think this will necessarily be the case for everyone, but it was a miss for me.
The bracelet/anklet is made from a string of light blue beads and you use the longer strands to tighten it up. There is no clasp and can be adjusted as needed depending on your wrist size. If you have smaller wrists like I do, then the extra strands will hang down quite a bit. This didn't really bother me, but be prepared for those strands to get dirty and snag on things.
Beachly Tropical 3 Pack Travel Pouches - Listed Value $12
I really like the idea of these travel pouches, however I rarely use anything like this. If I have a cream that I absolutely need to bring with me, then I will either check my bag and not worry about the 3.4 oz rule or find that specific product in a travel size (which I've noticed more and more brands are starting to do!). I also feel like I always waste some of my product since I'll never get all of it back out again.
The Beachly box comes with 3 different colors and designs, teal with flowers, darker blue with flowers, and a salmon color with palm fronds. All are 3 fl oz in size and come with a twist top cap.
Verdict
Overall, I'm pretty happy with this Spring Beachly curation! The box definitely had a beachy travel theme going on, which I can always appreciate! I absolutely loved the Lost and Wander cover up and I know the Rays for Days weekender tote will enjoy some good mileage with me this summer. The Skylar salt air rollerball also had a pleasantly nice scent and I appreciate that I'll be able to take it with me on my travels due to it's shape and size. The Cleobella packing cubes are both cute and functional, but again, the zippers do give me pause. The Lotus and Luna bracelet was a miss for me, but only because I really can't pull those cute dainty ones off anymore. As for the Beachly Beauty travel pouches, I can appreciate the idea behind these, but I prefer a different approach with my products.
