I have been so intrigued by these lights that I have seen floating around the Internet, so I was eager to test this out! We actually have a dark stairwell with no light going into the basement, and there isn't an electrical outlet there. It's challenging to get enough light in the stairwell without wiring anything—I have tried the battery-operated LED lights, but they don't seem to last long and changing the batteries is not easy since we have to undo the whole unit. I thought that this could be the right answer!

This light is very tasteful and sleek-looking: half of it is made of beautiful walnut wood, and the other half is a more modern frosted glass. There are two little sensors on the front for the auto feature which is the energy-saving mode that turns on when motion is detected in the dark. I love that it is rechargeable and cordless, meaning you can easily grab it off the base and take it with you to illuminate your path at night. It is very easy to operate with a switch on the bottom that has an auto setting on one side and the "on" setting on the other.

The baton sticks to the base with two small, strong magnets on the back of the baton. The base is a matching wood with a little divot where the light fits right in. It is a small round base that is unobtrusive enough to have up any time the light is not attached. It attaches to the wall with a sticky adhesive on the back. I'm not sure if it is replaceable, nor do I know how difficult it will be to remove, but it will be a while before I attempt to find out!

Here you can see the light hanging up in our stairwell. You can actually face the baton up or down depending on which style you like best. It's very tasteful and simple, providing just the right amount of light.
Here you can see the ambient glow at night. While this light somewhat addresses our dark hallway issue, the automatic feature does not work very well, so it almost defeats the purpose. Sometimes it works if I put my hand very close to it and block the sensor, but it actually doesn't work every time. Having to grab the light and turn it on and then place it back on the wall is definitely not very convenient and kind of a disappointment. It might work well for someone using it as a bedside lamp or for other purposes, but in this case, it just doesn't make the cut.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $56.89 with shipping, and we received a light valued at $65.00, which is a little bit of savings. I do wish something else had been included in the box to add to the value.
