NewBeauty TestTube is a bi-monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. Every other month they send you a tube full of deluxe and full-size beauty samples and you also get a digital subscription to NewBeauty Magazine. It’s a little pricier than other beauty subscriptions, but in general, the value is usually great.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
First Impressions
This packaging is so cute! I love the colors and that all of the products fit neatly inside. This month, not everything fit into the tube.
The Products
LivOn Labs Lypo-Spheric Glutathione, 30 packets – Retail Value $74.95
This dietary supplement works to raise your glutathione levels and helps increase T cell count for optimal immune health. According to their site, glutathione absorption supports a healthy liver and healthy immune system, supports cellular health, and protects cells from free radical damage. You can take one or two of these single-dose packets daily. I got a few tips and tricks on how to take this from last month's box item from this brand, so we gave it a try: we took the packet like a shot and chased it with a juice. Boy, I really wish that had helped. I think the smell of this packet is really what got me, and the taste was just very strange as well. I am all for treating my body to help keep it strong and healthy, but I just wish these were slightly more enjoyable to take.
OnMi Energy Support Patch, 4 patches – Retail Value $12
These patches are meant to give you energy for 12 hours without any added caffeine, sugar, or jitters. It is hypoallergenic and free from latex, parabens, gluten, and dye. My husband and I decided to apply our patch the day after daylight savings when we were both feeling super tired. I really wish I could say that I noticed a difference, but both of us checked in after about 10 hours and didn't really notice a difference in our energy levels. Maybe I need to try it again? Has anyone had any luck with these patches? Let me know in the comments!
Davids Sensitive + Whitening Peppermint Premium Toothpaste – Retail Value $9.95
This toothpaste is something that I've received a few times over the years in subscriptions. I am really weird about textures, especially with toothpaste, and I just have never gotten over how grainy this toothpaste feels. It has a really nice peppermint flavor, but I also find that I never get a super deep clean feeling that lasts when I use it compared to the other toothpaste that I use. This is obviously way better to use than my normal toothpaste, as it offers a recyclable metal tube and clean ingredients. It is always handy to have an extra tube of toothpaste, though, so even though this isn't my favorite, I will definitely use it.
LUXIE 530 Flat Top Kabuki Rose Gold – Retail Value $23
I am always happy to receive a new makeup brush! My foundation brush that I am obsessed with really is on its last life, so I was happy to try a new brand to see if it holds up to the one I currently have. This brush is made with synthetic bristles and has a larger flat top so you can achieve even, full coverage with your makeup application. This Kabuki brush was inspired by past Japanese drama actors and their dedication to their makeup—how cool! So far I am really loving how this brush is working with my liquid foundation application. I am able to cover more area, so I feel that it is going on smoother and more even without overusing any of my foundation.
Lights Lacquer Nail Lacquer – Retail Value $9.50
While this polish shade really isn't something that I would wear, it is going to get a lot of use from my daughter! She loves painting her nails and this is the perfect shade that I can apply quickly on her without worrying about it looking perfect, and she loves all of the shimmer and shine it gives her nails. For me, this is a highly pigmented shade that goes on really well, so I could see myself using it over a darker shade to add a little sparkle, especially during the holidays. You can easily use one coat of this polish and have great coverage or two to give it a more opaque look.
Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner, 4.23 fl oz. – Retail Value $9.99
I really appreciate that this toner is alcohol-free, and it does a great job hydrating my skin as the first step in my skincare routine. I have been using this as my base in the morning and at night, and my skin is loving it! The best part is that it seems to be working really well with my other products, which is a huge bonus. This toner is made with chamomile and rosewater to help soothe, purify, and cool your skin to really help awaken it. I am loving this right now, but I know I am going to get a ton of use out of it in the summer when my skin is hot and worn down from long days at the pool.
Peter Thomas Roth Peptide 21 Wrinkle Resist Eye Cream, 0.5 fl oz. – Retail Value $75
If you follow my reviews, you know that me and eye creams just don't seem to work. My eyes are so sensitive and it seems that every eye cream I have tried over the years causes irritation. The first day I tried this cream I felt okay, and I was so excited because I thought I finally found one that would work for me, but by the second day I was getting my usual build-up and burning. I did pass this along to my husband, though, who was in need of a new eye cream anyway and so far he is loving it! It is really helping to keep his eye area, which is usually fairly dry, looking smooth and hydrated. This cream is really interesting because it is made with 21 Peptides and Neuropeptides, 2 Gamma Proteins, 5% Regu®-Age, and 3% Reforcyl®. It works to fight the signs of aging all while hydrating that super-sensitive eye area.
Verdict
This NewBeauty TestTube has a $214.39 value, wow! I really loved the variety that this month's box brought! Receiving the makeup brush and the nail polish felt a bit different and are both products that I know I will get a lot of use out of. Especially the nail polish for my daughter, which she is really loving. The toner is a great product to add to my skincare routine, and since it is alcohol-free, it is working really well with my sensitive skin. While the eye cream didn't work for me, I was able to pass it along to my husband who really benefits from an eye cream. The LivOn Labs and the toothpaste fell a bit short for me, but they both really are wonderful products from incredible brands.
