GlossyBox is a beauty subscription that sends five deluxe and full-size products to your door every month for $21 (with free shipping to the U.S.). You should expect to discover new brands of hair care, makeup, and skincare in each box, wrapped up nicely with a different theme each time.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)

FYI: GlossyBox sometimes sends out multiple variations of the box during some months, so there may be some variation between what we review and what you receive.

First Impressions

The first thing I noticed about this box was the overpowering lavender scent emanating from within. For someone who loves lavender, I imagine such a thing would be delightful. A lavender fan I am not, but I am most certainly excited to see what products were included in this month’s curation.

Each month GlossyBox usually arrives with a booklet that includes a list of all the products included in that month's box.  I noticed that this month, I didn't receive a booklet.

What's Inside The Box

THIS WORKS Stress Check Sleep Lotion, 100 ml - Estimated Retail Value $14.99

Ah, here’s the culprit… I could smell this lavender and camomile body lotion before I even opened the box. I’ve never understood how such an overpowering scent could be soothing or relaxing, but for those who enjoy lavender, this is likely to be a hit. When I gave this lotion a try, I was interested in seeing if the scent was something that would dissipate once applied. It did not dissipate. In fact, I needed to wash my hands a few times to almost completely erase it. What I will say about this product, however, is that it seems to be a good lotion in terms of quality. It is creamy, moisturizing, and fast-absorbing. This lotion does not leave behind any sticky or greasy film, which I truly appreciate. While this is not a product for me, only because I do not enjoy lavender, it’s definitely a good quality lotion. I will likely pass along this lotion to one of my friends who is sure to enjoy it.

SULWHASOO First Care Activating Serum, 8 ml - Estimated Retail Value $11.87

I consider a high quality serum to be an essential step in my everyday skincare routine, and I love K-beauty products, so I was absolutely thrilled to see this product. The first thing I noticed about this First Care Activating Serum from Sulwhasoo was the simple, clean packaging, which I enjoy. When I applied this serum, I was happy to see it had a gel type of texture to it. My skin is fairly sensitive and doesn’t do so well with overly thick or oily products, and this serum is neither. It luxuriously and effortlessly hydrates skin, absorbs quickly, and leaves behind softer, smoother, more glowy skin. I’m interested to see if I notice any firming with repeated use. The formula contains a JAUM activator, which is a blend of lotus, rehmannia, peony, solomon’s seal, and white lily. This herb combination has been proven to improve the look of skin’s hydration, radiance, brightness, translucency, moisture barrier, and visible wrinkles. I also really liked the scent of this serum. It has a mild fresh, clean smell that is more up my alley.

NEOLASTIN Revitalize and Firm Eye Cream, 10 ml - Estimated Retail Value $38.00

Yes, this is exactly what I need in my life. Another eye cream that really does what it promises… Revitalize the sensitive skin of my under eyes! I tend to have dark racoon circles under my eyes because I’m a night owl forced to be an early bird. Burning the candle at both ends doesn’t often result in the most rested looking eyes, and so, I enjoy having quality products to rely on to help me out with that. This Neolastin Revitalize and Firm Eye Cream is spectacular. It feels wonderfully cooling on my skin, and it is a cream-based formula, but it feels weightless and not at all greasy or oily. My only concern is that the sample might be too small to show some long-term results, like visibly firmer under eyes. Luckily I’m not heavy-handed when it comes to application, so I think I may be able to stretch out this sample long enough to determine whether or not it’s doing as it suggests. I’m pretty sure I already have the beginning of crow’s feet, so I’m crossing my fingers here, lol.

LARITZY COSMETICS Gel Liner in Truffle, 1 g - Retail Value $18.00

As soon as I opened this, the tip of the liner went flying! So, while I was able to piece it together for the product photo, my Laritzy Cosmetics Gel Liner in Truffle broke before I could give it a proper try. But no problem; GlossyBox customer service is a pro at handling issues like these. Regardless, I was able to get a feel for the product’s texture, and I will say, this liner is nice and creamy and doesn’t tug or pull as you move it across the skin. It delivers a well-pigmented result that’s intense but easy to keep precise and fast-drying. One thing I noticed is that it doesn’t specify whether this is an eyeliner or a lip liner. I’m almost certain this is an eyeliner due to the color, but if I had received one of the other shades available, like a scarlet red or deep berry, I may have thought otherwise. Perhaps the company could be slightly more specific with their labeling.

LASHFOOD Conditioning Collagen Lash Primer, 4 ml - Estimated Retail Value $10.00

I desire long Betty Boop lashes, so I’ve tried a few lash primers before. I’ve never found the perfect match, though, so I’m always excited for the chance to try another brand. This LashFood Conditioning Collagen Lash Primer was a delightful inclusion for this month’s box. The product’s nano-peptide complex formula works as a daytime lash mask to nourish and condition lashes, while also providing a micro-thickening effect for the look of false lashes. This primer comes with a large wand that seamlessly helps to separate lashes during application. When I initially gave this product a try, I noticed what looked to be like white residue on my lashes… At the time I hadn’t realized that this primer was meant to be a first step when applying mascara. But I quickly noticed the oversight and applied some mascara over the primer, which made a huge difference in my lash length, without any flaking or clumping. Perhaps those Betty Boop lashes will no longer be an impossible goal.

KITSCH Satin Sleep Scrunchies in Blush, 3 pieces - Estimated Retail Value $4.80

I didn’t have the highest expectations for these Satin Sleep Scrunchies from Kitsch; mostly because I didn’t think they would be able to withstand the heft of my hair. But I was pretty surprised to find how well they worked for me during the night. I especially appreciate the satin on these scrunchies and how well they prevent breakage and discomfort. Since it holds my hair rather loosely, though, these wouldn’t work to secure my hair in a ponytail or bun during the day. I’ll definitely get a lot of good use from these during the night.

Verdict

Overall, I thought this was a good month for GlossyBox! I am especially happy to have the Neolastin eye cream; I love anti-aging everything and am excited to see what kind of results it delivers over time. The activating serum from Sulwhasoo was another highlight for me. It worked well on my skin, felt luxurious, and left behind a dewy complexion. LashFood’s lash primer gave me a pleasant surprise after my initial mistake, and the satin scrunchies from Kitsch will be very useful in keeping hair breakage to a minimum while sleeping. Unfortunately, I wasn’t properly able to try the Laritzy Cosmetics gel liner, but the product seems to have a smooth and creamy formula, which I appreciate in an eyeliner. Lastly, the sleep lotion from This Works… The brand’s products always seem to work well and deliver good results, but unfortunately, this lotion’s scent is a bit too strong for me, so I will be passing this along to a friend of mine who is a lavender fanatic. Overall, this month’s box contained a good mixture of products, and I was especially happy to see more of a lifestyle product included, rather than just makeup or skincare products, and the value was there.

I think this is a solid box! Especially for only $21!?!? (-Or $16?! Even better.) I have the Neolastin Eye Cream & enjoy the product very much! The Sulwhasoo Serum looks awesome..I am getting those scrunchies dammit! I keep telling myself to pick one/some up & still do not have any. Smh. The Laritzy Liner looks decent but it’s weird to not be mentioned whether u use for the eyes or the lips. Hmmm..strange. Anyhow I will mention one other thing, I have tried the white lash primers before, & I must have to warn: U must make sure u get get every little bit covered– at every angle, so u don’t realize (once u left the house), u have white patchiness on the lashes! Eek!! Thx for sharing your review!
