The Products
Girl Power Journal
This little journal is so cute—it gives me '90s vibes of something I had when I was little. The pages are easy to tear out if you want to leave a note for yourself or something. My daughter really loves drawing little pictures and leaving notes for Santa (yes, she is still leaving notes for Santa), so I decided to let her have this. I told her that it said 'Girl Power' because girls are amazing and we can do anything and more, which she of course loved!
Natasha Moor Warrior Face Blender Sponge, Retail Value - $16
I was really intrigued by the bottom shape of this makeup sponge. The sponge itself is made of super soft microfibers that won't irritate your skin. The description notes that the small wedges of the sponge are best for undereye concealer application, the bottom tip is for contouring, and the full sides are for your overall application. I actually no longer use a makeup sponge to apply my foundation, so I didn't have a huge desire to give this one a try since I don't really love how my makeup goes on with a sponge. My mom uses a similar sponge and was in need of a new one, so I passed this along to her. She will likely got a lot more use out of this for either herself or at her salon when she does makeup.
NUDESTIX Nudies Bronze – 0.07 oz., Estimated Value $9.52 (buy full size 0.25 oz for $34)
This is probably going to make me so uncool, but I just can't get down with bronzer. I can never seem to apply it correctly, blend it well, and the shade always feels off with my pale skin. This color is a bit on the lighter side so I think I might give it a try on my face to contour a bit come the summer when I have a bit more of a glow to me. I have a few weddings coming up this summer, so that might be the perfect time to try! I love that this can be used on your lips or eyes as well! I have been using this for an easy, quick eye makeup application that has that a "no makeup" look. It is light, but with a bit of a dark cat eyeliner, it looks really lovely. This really has staying power throughout the day as well, doesn't smudge, blends nicely, and has a strong color payoff. While this might not get me fully on board with bronzers, I am happy that I can still use it for my eyes.
Girlatik Rose Oil Petal Gloss, 5 g – Retail Value $20
This is the prettiest bottle of lipgloss I think I have ever received! Not only is it beautiful, but it is probably my favorite lipgloss I have ever tried! It is truly not sticky and the applicator does not come out with a ton of the gloss on it, so you really can apply it sparingly. It looks great on its own or worn over lipstick to add a bit of moisture and shine like I did in the photo above. The best part is that it really does a great job of hydrating my lips and making them feel soft while also making them look better. This gloss is made with argan oil, vitamin E, raspberry seed oil, jojoba oil, and is infused with dry rose petals. My daughter is equally obsessed with this gloss, and since it isn't too overpowering and sticky, I am happily sharing it with her. She loves adding a little before we head out to run errands or play outside.
Broken Top Candle Co. Sea Salt Surf Eau de Parfum, Eau de Parfum sample size no longer available – (buy the roll-on version here for $25.99)
This scent is perfect for me! It has everything that I really love: notes of sea salt, jasmine, and wood. I will say that I was a bit bummed to see that this wasn't a roll-on or spray perfume sample. It is sort of a little dropper so you have to be careful when applying, shake too hard and you will get a ton or not enough and you won't get enough of this beautiful scent. This is made with MCT oil, organic jojoba oil, fragrance, and essential oils that are all made in Bend, Oregon.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz, 0.03 g – Estimated Value $8.11 (buy full size 0.085 g for $23)
I have really let my eyebrows go the past few months and it really bums me out. Tools like these have really saved me—they still keep my brows looking somewhat under control, and a darker shade like I prefer. This set is on the smaller side, which will make it great to use for traveling. The brush is soft and allows me to smooth and shape my brows in the morning. The pencil is on the harder side, so I have more control over my lines so it doesn't smudge or go out of the lines of my brows. Plus, my lines to look more realistic to my brow hairs. This is just a really great product that I am happy to add to my makeup bag. And maybe soon I'll get to the spa to get my brows looking in tip-top shape!
Verdict
Macy’s Beauty Box took great care in highlighting some amazing women-owned brands! While the bronzer wasn't a big wow for me, I am happy that I can use it on my eyes, and who knows maybe I will get my contour on this summer. The sponge went to my mom since I no longer use them for my concealer application, but I really love when I am able to share beauty products that I receive with my mom. The girl power journal felt so funky, I was very happy to pass it along to my daughter for all of her letters and creations. My favorite item this month was hands down the lip gloss, which I can't even believe I am saying! I love how it isn't sticky and a little goes a long way without feeling overpowering. The eyebrow pencil set is the perfect item to help me keep my brows in shape, and the perfume is a lovely addition to my growing collection. All in all, this month felt a bit light, but was still filled with lots of goodies to try!
