When you open the box, the first thing you find is the information sheet, which lists the products included, their values, and a quick blurb about what they do. After that, you can always expect to find four products safely nestled inside the box waiting for you to enjoy.
Each month comes with an info sheet, and the other side of the info sheet always features a new art print.
The Breakdown - What's Inside My March 2022 Petit Vour Box
Earth Harbor Laguna Replenishing Body Serum, 2 oz - Retail Value $26
This body serum arrived at a really good time for me- I may have gone on an unplanned adventure riding bikes along the river in San Antonio, and my forearms got sunburned as a result. It was actually a pretty painful sunburn (the worst one I have had in a while), and along with using aloe products, I wanted to apply products to hydrate that super dry skin. This body serum worked really well on my arms (and the rest of my body that was, thankfully, unburned). It's a dry oil blend that absorbed fast while still feeling nourishing to my skin, and it had a light floral fragrance that was pleasant to smell while also not irritating to my sensitized skin.
Ellis Brooklyn Rrose Eau De Parfum, 1 mL - Estimated Value $3
Honestly, I adore Ellis Brooklyn fragrances- even though this is a small sample, I was still really excited to see this perfume sample in the box. My favorite Ellis Brooklyn scents are Bee and Apres, but if I was looking to buy a warm floral fragrance, this would definitely be one to consider. It has notes of California roses, Sicilian lemon, musk, peony, rhubarb, and cashmere woods. It's a vegan and PETA-certified cruelty-free fragrance, and I found this to last for several hours on my skin.
Jane Iredale LipDrink Lip Balm in Flirt, 0.14 oz - Retail Value $20
I am a really big fan of jane iredale products- they have a pH-adjusting lip balm I just adore, and I will always be excited to see full-size products from this brand in a subscription box. This tinted lip balm added a really pretty pop of color while also giving my lips a boost of moisture, but my favorite part is that it has SPF 15- sunburned lips hurt something terrible. I think I received a defective lip balm because no matter how much I twisted the bottom of the tube, I couldn't get the lip balm to twist up, so I reached out to Petit Vour's customer service. They responded quickly and said sometimes it can take a little extra effort, but if it still wasn't working to let them know and they would be happy to include a replacement in my next box. I thought that was a fair resolution, and I appreciate it was handled so quickly.
Neal's Yard Remedies Frankincense Cleanser, 25 g - Estimated Value $8
It's rare that a cleanser excites me, and while this one didn't excite me, I did like it more than I thought I would. It had a creamy texture that was very soft and gentle to my skin, and it's formulated with frankincense, baobab seed oil, and cocoa butter to gently cleanse your face. I have dry skin that can be sensitive and I think this is a cleanser that would work for all skin types, and the texture was really just lovely to apply to my skin.
Value - Was This Box Worth It?
The Cost: $18
Cost Breakdown:
- Earth Harbor: $26 → $8.21
- Ellis Brooklyn: $3 → $0.95
- Jane Iredale: $20 → $6.31
- Neal's Yard Remedies: $8→ $2.53
Everything in the box adds up to $57, which is great for an $18 box that sends exclusively vegan beauty products. Alternatively, each of the 4 items has an average cost of $4.50.
Key Takeaways
I thought this was a stellar box from Petit Vour- both full-size products came from popular brands I really like, and the two samples were high-quality products. Sometimes the products can be hit or miss for me, but thankfully all of the products in this month's box worked great for me aside from the technical snafu of the lip balm not twisting up. I am glad my experience with the Petit Vour customer service was easy and painless, and I enjoyed trying out all of the products sent this month. Petit Vour does a good job of sending out well-rounded boxes with nice values for under $20, and I appreciate that the effort they put in each month (it never fills like filler products have been put in my box the way it can with other subscriptions). If you try to focus on vegan beauty products (or have a friend who does), this is definitely a box you want to check out.
