First Impressions
These books are ones we have never heard of before, but it looked like a good mix that my kids would enjoy!
Inside the Lillypost April 2022 Box
Lillypost always sends us a set of Finnley the Fox stickers along with a little note that introduces their coloring contest for the month. Kids can draw directly on the box and incorporate Finnley into the monthly theme, then share it on social media for a chance to win a prize. This month is all about Earth Day.
Spring is Here! by Carles Ballesteros - Listed Value $7.99
This little board book is very cute, perfect for spring, and it has a unique feature where the little animal faces change as you flip the pages. It's a very simple book announcing that spring is here and my kids enjoyed the cute animals. It's a great simple board book for infants that is small enough to throw in a diaper bag, and the changing faces should entertain them, too!
What About X? by Anne Marie Houppert - Listed Value $16.99
I think my children enjoyed this story most of all! All of the letters at Alphabet Academy are excited for their trip and they have some great ides on what to bring; B is bringing binoculars, F is bring fishing poles, but X is just not sure what he can contribute. When he finally thinks about what to bring, he realizes that his xylophone is broken. Fortunately, he has some great friends that help save the day! This book was bright and colorful with some fun alliteration and a pleasant story. It was great for my 4-year-old who is still working on letter recognition. This is a fun way to reinforce those skills!
Hugo and the Impossible Thing by Renee Felice Smith and Chris Gabriel - Listed Value $17.99
This last book is one that I really enjoyed. It had some beautiful illustrations and the animals are adorable. Everyone has always heard that the Impossible Thing is impossible to overcome even though bear is strong and fox is clever, they've never even attempted it. Hugo, a small dog, questions why no one has ever tried and so he decides that he will be the first. While it is an impossible task, the animals learn that with help from one another, they can accomplish the "impossible." It's a cute story about daring to try that is made better by the sweet animals throughout.
