First Impressions

Open Box for Bombay and Cedar Spring 2022 Quarterly Lifestyle Box

I can’t wait to see what array of products they’ve included in this season’s box, and I’m extra excited because the product list is double-sided. That must mean there are lots of goodies inside… Let’s find out!

Certain Bombay and Cedar subscribers were set to receive Caprea’s MiShot: Anti-Pigmentation facial serum, and I was one of them. Unfortunately the product was experiencing some major shipping delays, so instead of waiting to deliver my box, Bombay and Cedar chose to include a 3-piece mystery bag. In lieu of the facial serum, I received a 2-pack of Minor Thread’s Lavender Sachet Bundle, an 8-piece set of Norfolk Natural Living’s Cedar Balls, and Muscle Spray from Nature’s Oil. Although I am not a huge fan of lavender, I’m really happy to have these sachets. Since two were included, I stuck one in the bathroom and the other in my walk-in closet, and it’s definitely smelling a bit fresher in there ever since. The cedar balls are great. I love the scent and the smooth feel they have, but more than that, I love that they included another tool for keeping my closet and clothing fresh. Nature’s Oil’s Muscle Spray is for use on sore muscles. It has a wonderfully natural scent to it that I love; definitely better than that blue analgesic pain relieving gel I used to have to slather on after dance class. This really feels great on my knee. But beware and use sparingly because it gives a slight tingle that you may or may not enjoy. Oh, and definitely watch your eyes when you spray this stuff… I had a slight mishap, but all is well, and I’m thrilled to have this!

What's Inside The Box

The box arrives with a product card that lists the products and highlights some of the brands found within.

MABEL Floor Cleaner, 473 ml - Retail Value $15.00

I have two exotic birds at home, and they are incredibly sensitive to scents, chemicals, etc., so I am thrilled to have this Floor Cleaner from Mabel. It’s a cleanser that simply cleans, without leaving behind any chemical residue or noxious fumes, making it 100% non-toxic and safe for pets and babies. This is super simple to use. Just add one fluid ounce of floor cleaner solution to a gallon of warm water, and you’re ready to go. Plus, a little goes a long way. For best results, the brand recommends sweeping or dusting the desired surface before utilizing the solution, and you need have no worries when using this on a variety of flooring materials including hardwood, tile, and laminate.

WTHN Ear Seed Kit - Retail Value $45.00

This is by far the most interesting thing I’ve ever received in any subscription box. The first thing that came to my mind when I saw ‘Ear Seed Kit,’ well… I imagined something being planted and then growing out of my ears, which was a bit unsettling. But these ‘ear seeds’ from WTHN are actually used as a tool in Chinese medicine to reduce stress, relieve pain, restore hormonal balance, and more. In fact, it seems to work a lot like acupuncture, which is also something I’ve never experienced. I am interested in learning a bit more about this process before I brave the challenge of doing it for myself. I feel as though one should see some type of holistic doctor for an application like this but apparently not, and who knows; I may give it a try.

ROOT7 Clear Geometric Glass Carafe, 34 oz - Retail Value $23.54

Uh-oh… This beautiful, geometric carafe is so elegant and delicate that I am fearful of it even being in my home. As I mentioned above and in past reviews, I have exotic birds. They are indeed flighted, so sometimes they fly past things and there’s a 50-50 chance of there being an accident. Honestly, I feel like this carafe would just be blown over by the breeze of their wings and crash to the ground. But nevertheless, I absolutely adore this piece. The highlight for me is how sleek and modern the carafe’s shape is, and it holds up to 35 fluid ounces. I’m thinking of passing along this lovely carafe to someone with a less chaotic home who has the ability to truly enjoy the finer things in life.

BACANHA Raw Strawberry Syrup, 400 ml - Retail Value $11.22

I have a bit of a sweet tooth, and I have to say, this is one of my favorite edible things I’ve ever received in a box from Bombay and Cedar. This delightful product from Bacanha is a concentrated strawberry syrup. I was at first worried it would be some kind of thick, mucus-like substance that had been dyed pink. But I couldn’t have been more wrong… It’s a light, clear syrup, and you can add just a tiny bit of it to almost anything for a delicious strawberry flavor. I’ve honestly never been so pleased by a flavored syrup before, and I’m truly enjoying it. Bonus points for being organic, which I appreciate. If you’re a fan of strawberry or anything fruit flavored, this raw syrup is definitely worth a try. I also like how the bottle is glass and recyclable, including enough concentrate for up to 20 drinks when used in mocktails, smoothies, tea, or beer.

BLANCRÈME Grapefruit Body Scrub, 175 ml - Retail Value $23.94

I am a huge fan of body scrubs. I just love being able to slough off any dead skin that may be on my body. This Blancrème Grapefruit Body Scrub is wonderful. What I really love about this particular scrub is the delicious citrus scent it has. Such a fresh, tangy vibe that is not too strong or overpowering to me as someone sensitive to scents. It’s simply the perfect amount of deliciousness. The exfoliant material itself is all-natural made entirely from sugar and grapefruit bark, which I appreciate. It feels gentle during use and leaves behind fresh, moisturized skin instead of dry, stripped skin like some other body scrubs do. Bonus points for the inclusion of grapefruit essential oil, which has nourishing and toning benefits. With toning, I’ll take all the help I can get!

OH LILY! Crunchy Water Lily Seeds in Dolce Vita (Tomato and Black Olive), 25 g - Retail Value $3.01

I’m always excited to try the various snacks included in Bombay and Cedar boxes. They’re most often healthy alternatives that are incredibly unique. I definitely value what I put into my body, so I appreciate the thought behind it. While I appreciate the fact that these Oh Lily! Crunchy Water Lily Seeds are vegan and gluten free, they were a bit of a miss for me in terms of flavor and texture. I’m a huge texture person especially when it comes to my food, and these ‘seeds’ were reminiscent of packing peanuts for me personally. If I had to pick a spice mix for these, it wouldn’t have been Italian— maybe Moroccan or Thai, but definitely not Italian. Although these aren’t for me, if you enjoy the classic ‘pizza’ flavor, you might really enjoy these. They sort of reminded me of a healthier take on a pizza-flavored combo, and the texture definitely has a nice initial crunch.

Happy Mail by Eunice and Sabrina Moyle, 128 pages - Retail Value $10.72

This is such a cute and unique idea! ‘Happy Mail’ includes over 40 tear-out cards, hand-lettered projects, and more. The book provides easy-to-follow instructions on various lettering styles, including brush calligraphy for beginners. This is the perfect book for any of the artistic folks out there, but it’s definitely geared toward a younger audience. I personally wouldn’t use this book. It reminds me of something I’d give to a younger sibling or cousin, and that’s probably what I’ll do. The book seems to have a great quality to it, though, with a thick paper, almost like cardstock.

SHIRALEAH Tote Bag - Listed Value $29.00-37.00

Tote Bag for Bombay and Cedar Spring 2022 Quarterly Lifestyle Box

I love a good tote bag, even though I already have plenty… Way more than I need. This tote bag from Shiraleah has a unique pattern, and it’s incredibly functional. It also folds down nice and compactly, which I appreciate. That makes it especially useful for tossing into the car and keeping handy for some last-minute errands. Rainy days? This should nicely protect your items on that short walk from the car to the front door. I’m pretty impressed with how much this tote can hold as well. I’m going to get some great usage out of this, and I’m glad it was included in this season’s product curation.

Verdict

I thought this was a good seasonal box from Bombay & Cedar! There was a wide array of products included, but the highlight for me was the delightful raw strawberry syrup from Bacanha. I’m so excited to have been introduced to this brand, and now I can’t wait to try some more of their flavors. I also appreciated the inclusion of a non-toxic, safe-for-pets floor cleaner from Mabel. This fits perfectly into my lifestyle, and I’m happy to have it. Something that didn’t fit so much into the chaos that is my life was Root7’s beautiful glass carafe, but it sure makes a wonderful gift. I love the body scrub from Blancrème. The water lily seeds from Oh Lily were not a hit with me, but I appreciate the effort. Although I didn’t receive Caprea’s facial serum, I was surprised with a mystery bag filled with goodies. I enjoy the tote bag from Shiraleah; it’s a nice, thick material that serves the purpose well. The Happy Mail book is for all of those paper crafters and scrapbookers out there who love to make handmade art. While I won’t be using it for myself, it’s definitely a high quality item. Lastly, the ear seed kit from WTHN… This was by far the most unique product I have ever seen, but I’m happy to have it and excited to do the research on it before giving it a try. Overall, this box included a great variation of products, and the value is definitely there.

This review of the Bombay & Cedar Spring 2022 Seasonal Lifestyle Box is a helpful resource for anyone interested in discovering new, all-natural, and organic products. The addition of a coupon makes it even more appealing for those who are considering subscribing to this exciting and unique box. I have the essential oils products box which I got from the BargzNY store.

I’m a bit jealous of what you received for this box. It’s been a while since I’ve received the box and I forget about it but then when I see the box mentioned I get ticked again. I picked items for categories, received confirmation of my choices but only received one item I chose – the water bottle. I do like the water bottle but it doesn’t make up for the rest of my crappy box. No letter of explanation either. I chose the spice drops for one category but received the drink syrup. And it’s cucumber. I probably would have really liked the wallet in another category but instead received a really puffy, furry, winter scarf…for a spring box.
