This wallet is adorable! It has plenty of space to hold all your cards, a money pouch, and a zippered pouch for coins. The design is indeed very cute, but the hardware itself is not the greatest. The zipper is a bit tricky to open and close, and it feels like if I yanked on it just a bit too hard, it might break in my hand. But I do love the design, with ‘melanin’ in sign language. I think it’s absolutely adorable, and I’m going to use it in my car to hold the cash and cards that live there in case of emergency. Subscribers could have received one of three options: Aquatic Goddess, Melanin Girl Talk, or Hey Sis! I received Melanin Girl Talk.
VIOLA DAVIS’ Finding Me: A Memoir, 304 pages - Retail Value $28.99

I enjoy how a book has been included in this box lately. I’m a huge Viola Davis fan, so I’m very interested to read this memoir about her inspirational journey from poverty to one of Hollywood’s leading ladies of color. I love how on trend and up with pop culture this product is, and I’m happy to have this.

This shirt is really cool! This is the first button-up shirt from the Brown Sugar Box, and I have to say, I really love it. It’s super lightweight and perfect for the summer. I really love the pattern. It has a boxy fit so you can throw it over a tank top, crop top, or bralette, or twist up the two bottom ends and give yourself the classic 70s front knot. I love how versatile it is, and how many different ways you can wear it. The print is adorable, and the color story is really working for me. Subscribers could have received one of two prints: Melanin Faces or Vibrant Queens.

This is such a cute t-shirt. I really enjoy the print of the three lovely ladies enjoying their vacation. This is perfect for the summertime; cool, lightweight, and 100% cotton. The one slight downside for me here is the color of the shirt… It came in what I like to call ‘ham color,’ which is not exactly my favorite. But regardless of that, I’m still going to wear it.
IZZY AND LIV Art Deco Luggage Packing Cubes Set, 5 pieces - Retail Value $25.00

I travel quite often, and I’ve been in need of a new set of packing cubes, so I was thrilled when I saw these included in this month’s box. There’s such a fun pattern on these, and I love the texture of the material. It’s somewhat of a water-resistant material that’s super easy to wipe down, which I appreciate. Packing my luggage is always fun for me. I consider it to be like a real-life version of Tetris. Keeping everything organized will be even more of a breeze with this set. The sizes range, offering up a little bit of storage for just about everything, from clothing, to makeup and skincare, to smaller items like jewelry and whatnot. Three cubes (small, medium, and large) and two pouches (small and large) are included in this set. I will be getting a lot of use out of this, and I’m happy to have it.
Verdict
I really enjoyed this month’s Brown Sugar Box! I think the curation was perfect for summer. I like how two shirts were included this month: our standard t-shirt, 100% cotton, with a cute pattern, and a more dressy yet still casual and comfortable collared button-up shirt. The packing cube set is perfect for the season and also fits with the ‘Girl Trippin’ theme of this month’s box. Viola Davis’s memoir was a wonderful surprise inclusion. Now you have reading material for the plane trip or for those relaxing days on the beach. Lastly, the wallet has a cute print, and there is plenty of space for my cards and cash. The only downside for me is that the hardware of the zipper catches a little. Overall, I think this was a great box with a solid value that Brown Sugar Box subscribers will enjoy this summer.
