Joe Jonas, frontman for the Jonas Brothers and DNCE, has partnered with canned cocktail brand Ohza to launch his own line of sparkling sangria. Called Fizzy Sangria and being positioned as the first canned "sparkling" sangria, the new line promises "60% fewer calories and 80% less sugar than a typical sangria made at your local bar or restaurant," according to Forbes magazine. From Ohza:
With up to 80% less sugar, 60% fewer calories and serious convenience (12 cans is equivalent to mixing four champagne bottles and two juice cartons), you could say the Original Canned Sangria™ is a game-changer.
Fizzy Red Sangria is made with "100% real raspberry, blueberry, plum, and tangerine juices mixed with premium sparkling red or white wine," according to Ohza, and costs $44 for 12 cans (customers can save a bit--and get free shipping--by subscribing).
So how does singer Jonas fit into this? “I love the canned concept with classic cocktails and brunch cocktails," Jonas told Forbes. He first tried Ohza's canned mimosas while filming DNCE's music video for "Dancing Feet." He was drawn to the canned cocktails because "I appreciated seeing some of my favorite beverages that I would typically order at a bar become much more accessible."
Fizzy Sangria is the first product extension for Ohza, and Jonas--who has personally invested in the company as well--is spreading the word. "I think the accessibility is what draws people and I am excited for everyone to get their hands on Fizzy Sangria. It is the first canned ‘sparkling’ sangria on the market, so I’m looking forward to getting it out there.” He's aware of the spiked seltzers already on the market, but thinks it's "time for something a little bit classier while still keeping it fun.”
“Joe could not be a better partner for Ohza,” according to Ryan Ayotte, chairman of Simple Skiff Beverages, Ohza's parent company. “Everyone knows who he is and loves him, he's fun and playful like Ohza, and he's doing the real work to build the line.”
What do you think? Will you be trying Ohza and Joe Jonas' new Fizzy Sangria?
