First Impressions
Everything came inside a white Macy's branded box, and when you open the box you find everything has been neatly packaged together with pink tissue paper.
You'll also find a helpful monthly booklet. The booklet goes over each product in detail, and they even sent along with a coupon for your next Macy's beauty purchase.
The Products
Mugler Angel Eau De Parfum, 1.2 mL - Estimated Value $4.08 (buy the 10 mL version for $34)
This was quite a nice perfume, and one I don't recall seeing in a subscription box before. This gourmand scent has notes of praline, patchouli leaf, bergamot, and red fruits, and it's a warm scent with a hint of spice that's balanced nicely by the sweetness from the fruity notes. The staying power on this was great, too- I could still smell it on my wrist at the end of a long day at work.
Mugler Angel Nova Eau Du Parfum, 1.2 mL - Estimated Value $3.84 (buy the 10 mL version for $32)
Though this perfume is in the Angel family, it isn't gourmand at all. Rather, it is a bright fruity floral fragrance with notes of raspberry, rose, and akigalawood. The raspberry is really prominent in the top and middle notes- you definitely get a very fruit-forward fragrance that's different from the other perfumes I have on my shelf. The dry down is sweet but a bit softer thanks to the rose and akigalawood, and I got compliments when I wore this fragrance to work. This is also a fragrance I could still smell on my wrist when I made it home after a long day, so the staying power is definitely there.
The Beauty Crop Watermelon Brightening Eye Mask, 1 pair - Retail Value $6
I received a note in my box that they had to make a substitution, and I received the watermelon eye masks from The Beauty Crop instead of their avocado eye masks. I was impressed with how well these eye masks performed! They didn't have a ton of serum and were on the thin side, so once I applied them they stayed put even though I wasn't laying down and didn't slide all over my face. My favorite part was how cooling these felt to my tired eyes after a long day even though I hadn't stored these in the fridge beforehand-- they definitely helped me to relax.
Mineral Fusion Nail Polish in Fast 'n Fabulous, 10 ml - Retail Value $9.99
I honestly can't tell you the last time I painted my nails because I have become such a devoted user of gel strips (more on that later). This is a fiery coral red polish infused with bio-ceramics that is designed to improve the health of your nails over time. This definitely isn't a color that I typically reach for, but it looks like it would be a perfect match for my mom.
Buxom Cosmetics Full-on Plumping Lip Cream in White Russian, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $7.77 (buy the 4.44 mL version for $23)
This is a sheer pale-pink lip gloss boosted with peptides and hyaluronic acid to help your lips look plump and full with a "teasy tingle" and without the irritation you may associate with other plumping lip products. That's what Buxom claims, anyways- I definitely felt the tingly burn when I applied this to my lips. I like that this shade has no shimmer or sparkle, but it's so pale that I don't know that this would be the most complimentary shade for all skin tones. It looked nice enough on me, but I have never been able to get along with plumping lip products- they always cause pimples on my lip line!
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Sherbert, 5 g - Retail Value $5.50
I was excited about a full-size eye crayon being in the box, but the color of this left me absolutely stumped-- I had to double-check that this was, in fact, an eye product and not one meant for lips because it is such a pastel pink. The formula was creamy and glided across the skin with ease, but I don't actually know what makeup look of mine will call for a pink eyeshadow in this shade.
Here is the eye pencil swatched below the lip cream.
Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk, 50 mL - Retail Value $10
I've used this dry shampoo before- it's a classic, and incredibly gentle. It's made with oat milk and free from sulfates, and I've never found it to leave a white cast on my dark brown hair. It does a good job of refreshing old hairstyles and leaving the hair near my scalp less oily after I use it.
Perfectly Polished Nail Strips
These nail strips were made specifically for Macy's, and feature wavy rainbow colors on a milky white background. I love nail strips like these for keeping my nails done, and I do think this style is fun (though I wish it came at the beginning of June rather than the end of the month). This set comes with 16 nail wraps so there's a good chance most people will be able to find fits for all of their nails in this set, though the set didn't come with a nail file like I have come to expect from other brands.
Verdict
This was my first box from Macy’s Beauty Box in quite a while! My favorite was definitely the eye masks from The Beauty Crop, which I honestly wasn't expecting, along with the Mugler Angel Nova perfume. While some items in this box weren't the best fit for me personally, I appreciate that both the nail polish and eye pencil were full-sized and the dry shampoo, though small, was one of the sizes available for retail purchase and not just a sample. The Buxom lip cream and perfume samples look extra tiny when I hold them in my hand, but overall I do think this was a decent box for the $15 price tag- everything except the nail strips adds up to $47.18.
