What's Inside The Box
The box arrives with a card that lists the products and highlights some of the beauty brands found within.
REAL HER Eye Am Beautiful Mascara, 12 ml - Retail Value $18.00
Mascara is a great staple to have on hand, and this Real Her Eye Am Beautiful Mascara works well to get the job done. It is definitely a true black shade, which I appreciate, and waterproof. One thing I have to say is that, for me personally, the wand is a bit too large. I prefer a slightly smaller wand that really separates each lash. But as long as I take my time with the application process, I’m able to get the look I want. The mascara itself is wonderful for all-day wear because it does not smudge or flake off in the least, which is really impressive. I also have sensitive eyes, and this formula works nicely for me without causing any sort of irritation. For me, this isn’t the kind of mascara I would use on an everyday basis because it does indeed create more of a dramatic look, but if that’s your go-to style, then this might be just the one for you.
BUDDICA Bamboo Cleansing Cloths, 10 wipes - Estimated Retail Value $5.00
Oooh, these are nice! I can always use an additional travel pack of cleansing wipes, and these are perfect. Some other brands out there don’t work so well for me. My sensitive skin can react poorly to cleansing wipes that have alcohol or other harsh ingredients, but that isn’t at all the case with these Bamboo Cleansing Cloths from Buddica. Made from six all-natural ingredients including coconut oil and 99.6% purified water, these wipes are free of all fragrance, parabens, alcohol, and dyes, which I very much appreciate. The pack comes with 10 wipes, and it’s the perfect size to stash in your purse while on the go or in an overnight bag for a last-minute trip.
ALDER NEW YORK Lightweight Moisturizer, 60 ml - Retail Value $34.99
I’ve received this Alder New York Lightweight Moisturizer in the past, and every time, it surprises me. When I first dispensed the product, it looked more like a thick white cream, so I was worried it’d be too heavy for my skin. But when I applied the moisturizer to my skin after my nighttime cleansing routine, it absorbed super quickly and felt more like a water-based product. To my surprise, this moisturizer IS indeed a water-based product. There is virtually no scent, and I am a huge fan of the push dispenser, which dispenses just the right amount of product each and every time. For myself, I’ll likely save this moisturizer for the winter when I need ultimate hydration. I highly recommend this!
KANELI After Sun Cooling Jelly, 50 ml - Listed Value $36.00
Talk about soothing! This After Sun Cooling Jelly from Kaneli is incredibly cooling and feels great on all skin, whether dry, burnt, or irritated. I really do love the texture. It’s an aloe-based formula that I found to be especially non-irritating. Perfectly gentle but effective. This product has a mild scent that dissipates almost instantly, and I have to say, this jelly is fast absorbing but does leave behind the slightest sticky texture that I could do without. Now, I rarely get sunburned myself, but I have a friend who does suffer from such an unfortunate condition. I had them try this cooling jelly, and let me tell you, it was like instant relief. I might not have believed it if I hadn’t seen it for myself, but I can now say for a fact that this stuff really works. Definitely keep some on hand for the summer months. Oh, also, you can use this product as a wash-off mask too. Simply apply, leave on for up to fifteen minutes, and rinse off with warm water.
EiR NYC Surf Mud, 57 g - Retail Value $26.00
Being completely honest here…at first I had no idea what this stuff was, but I quickly learned. This EiR NYC Surf Mud is basically sunscreen but a more heavy-duty version. This is almost like a balm of sorts where the product warms to your touch, making it easily spreadable across your skin. This is safe for use on your body, on your face, wherever you need it, and it offers a water-resistant, SPF 30 formula. Whether you’re going to be in the water or just lounging around on the beach, this stuff works. Again, I have sensitive skin, but this did not cause me any irritation whatsoever, and it has a minimal scent that seems to dissipate quickly. I also appreciate that this sunscreen doesn’t seem to leave me with a glowing white mask like others tend to do. This is the perfect sunscreen for those no-makeup summertime fun days, but if you’re looking for something to put on under your makeup, this isn’t the one.
Verdict
I thought this was a great month for The Beauty Box by Bombay and Cedar! The highlight for me was EiR NYC’s Surf Mud because it’s a really heavy-duty sunscreen that’s perfect for all-day beach days. Alder New York’s moisturizer was a pleasant surprise for me once again; it’s a water-based gel that masquerades as a thick cream, and I love how nicely it hydrates my skin. I’m really happy to have Buddica’s cleansing wipes. These are great to have on hand for an overnight bag. Kaneli’s cooling jelly is a really unique product that feels wonderful to irritated skin of any kind. Lastly, the mascara from Real Her is a great staple product, and it offers a true black shade that gives a dramatic look. Overall, I thought this month was really great. The included products were spot-on with the theme and offered up quite a bit of variety, and the value is there.
