You probably know by now that KiwiCo has a subscription line for just about every age, but did you know they also offer fun one-time boxes in their shop? They have interactive toys, educational kits that are similar to their monthly boxes, and even some fun holiday-themed boxes. As a mom, I am always intrigued by these boxes, but before I buy, I like to know exactly what I'm getting. This series will provide you with a review of some of these unique one-time boxes and hopefully help you make an informed decision about your own purchases. If there's a box you'd like to see reviewed from their shop, drop a line in the comments and we'll see what we can do!

This is a review of KiwiCo's Bubble Machine (recommended for ages 9+) for $27.95.
First Impressions
This was actually sent to us as part of our Tinker Crate subscription. I knew that my kids would be very excited for this one! The cover on the box listed everything that was inside of the box.
What's Inside the Bubble Machine Crate?
Everything inside of our box was labeled and neatly organized.
This booklet was so thorough! Not only did it include instructions for our bubble machine, but it also had some great educational information about the science of bubbles, some DIY activities we could try, and some pages where we could record some results after performing some bubble experiments!
The Pieces
Inside our box were the main pieces of the bubble machine which were made of wood and plastic along with some foam pieces and rubber bands to hold them together. There was also a motor, two AA batteries, a battery pack and a bottle of bubble solution!
Building the Machine
Part A: Wire up the Blower
My two older kids decided to work on this build together. They attached the motor and the battery back to the wooden pieces and then matched up the wires.
Then they added the little fan piece which would blow our bubbles.
Part B: Finish the Bubble Machine
Then they finished the rest of the body of the bubble machine and added the tray for the bubble solution.
Lastly, we added the wand and the little splash guard and our machine was complete! An easy build, especially when you're working as a team!
Bubbles!
Here is our finished machine. You pour the bubbles into the little plastic tray and then turn on the switch. Then when you push down the little blue wand on the side, the bubble wand raises and the fan blows the bubbles out for you.
My older son poured in our solution and then we took the machine outside to test it out. (Yes, the smarter thing to do would have been to bring it outside first, but "mom brain" is a real thing!)
The big kids let their little brother test out the machine first. It was a success! They were so excited and proud of their new machine. We played around with it a little bit, but next, we will get to do some experiments by moving the wand to different positions and also trying out some different dilutions of bubble solution with it. I love that they turned it into a fun and educational experience!

My kiddos had a great experience with this box and I totally plan on creating a homeschool lesson to further extend the educational factor of this box, so for us, it was worth it. You might be wanting just a little bit more to go with it if you aren't as focused on the educational aspect of this box, though!
Key Takeaways
Everyone loves bubbles – learning about and doing experiments with them makes both mom and kids happy!
