Little Passports is a subscription box that helps kids explore the world through fun and educational activities. They offer a range of subscription options and they recently came out with an Animals Wild box for ages 3-5 that explores different animals around the world and their habitats.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
First Impressions
Our box theme this month was "Plunge into the Pacific!" and my 6-year-old was eager to check it out, so he did this box with me even though it's technically for ages 3-5.
What's Inside this "Animals Wild" Box?
This booklet introduced us to our habitat and provided instructions for our game.
Game Materials
It looks like we were making a Plinko-style game this month, and we received a vertical game board.
Pop-up Play Set
Each box includes an innovative pop-up play set of our habitat. It comes with a cardboard clip to hold it open along with four cardboard animals to assemble for play. The blue strip of paper opened up to give us some assembly instructions.
There are lots of flaps to open with activities and fun facts all over, which makes it such a great interactive set!
The Activities
My son couldn't wait to assemble the animals. We had a sea turtle, hammerhead shark, octopus, and an anglerfish! This is a great fine motor activity for younger kiddos! And of course, the animals are so fun to play with.
Our game was also very easy to set up, but a little more involved. We had to place all of the little plastic pegs into the holes on our game board, and then add backings to our little animals before adding them to different pegs on the board. We also had to pop out our 6 game pieces, which were little cardboard circles.
The idea is to drop the circles from the top and try to avoid the animals at each layer so you can make it to the holes at the bottom. Each one is worth a different amount of points, so whoever has the most points at the end is the winner! This was a fun game that was simple to play and it's a great way to practice number recognition and addition, too!
Value - Was This Box Worth It?
The Cost: $27.95 + free shipping
We received a play set with animals and a game that we can continue to play along with lots of great educational information. I love the idea of this, but I can't help but think that one more little keepsake would make this box feel like an even better value!
Key Takeaways
This box is simple, educational, and fun making it perfect for the 3-5 age range! They get to work on some fine motor skills, play a new game, and learn about animals through an interactive play set that also allows for some free play.
