Everyone knows Sephora is a beauty store where you can find almost anything and everything related to makeup, skincare, body care, hair care, and self-care, but did you know they also frequently release curated limited edition sets? They recently released a curated perfume set that comes with five perfume samples and a voucher to redeem for a travel-size bottle in your favorite scent- once you're able to decide between all of the amazing options.

FYI – this kit is still available for purchase (while stock lasts)!

My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.

First Impressions

This set comes packaged in a light orange box, and tucked inside are five different perfume samples along with the scent voucher you use (both online or in-person) to redeem for your travel-size bottle. I'll warn you now: this is probably the best-selling set Sephora has ever released, and I can confidently say that as I already own four of the five perfumes available. If you want to learn more about each perfume, there are additional details on the back of the box.

Don't forget that every Sephora purchase comes with two free samples you get to select!

The Breakdown – What’s Inside This Limited Edition Box From Sephora

Clean Reserve – Skin Eau de Parfum, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $4.20

Certificate redeems for the 10 mL Eau de Parfum Spray that retails for $28

This perfume is aptly named- it smells very skin-like thanks to the blend of Madagascar vanilla and soft musk, and it's enhanced by the soft woodiness from the copaiba oil and the kiss of sweetness from the salted praline notes. The overall effect is warm and slightly sweet, but not very noticeable- it's a sheer scent that's great if you're not looking for your fragrance to turn heads or if you're wanting to layer fragrances. You know how some lipsticks and lip glosses give you that perfect "your lips but better" look? I consider this to be the fragrance version: your skin but better, and I really enjoy this perfume.

Ellis Brooklyn BEE, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $4.80

Certificate redeems for the 10 mL Eau de Parfum Spray that retails for $32

I am quite a big fan of Ellis Brooklyn BEE- this is another fragrance I own in the full-size, and I reach for it frequently. Where the Clean Reserve Skin fragranced is more neutral for year-round wear, this perfume was destined for the cooler months of autumn and winter. It has scent noes of honey, dark rum, vanilla bean, sandalwood, and cocoa absolute. It's a delicious gourmand fragrance that doesn't smell artificial, and I love wearing this and my boyfriend loves smelling this on me. If gourmand perfumes are up your alley and you haven't tried BEE yet, you're in for a treat.

Maison Margiela 'REPLICA' By the Fireplace, 1.2 mL - Estimated Value $3.84

Certificate redeems for the 10 mL Eau de Toilette Travel Spray that retails for $32

This is another fragrance that I absolutely adore- if this set was for full-size bottles and not travel-sized I would use my voucher for the full-size of By The Fireplace in a heartbeat, because I've only purchased it in the travel-size for myself (long before I knew it would be available in this set and I could snag it at a discount). Designed to replicate the warmth and coziness of a crackling fire, this fragrance is mix of orange flower, clove oil, chestnut, and vanilla. It has a lovely smokiness that really evokes the feeling of a wood-burning fire at winter time, and it has a balanced spiciness to it from the clove that's rounded it out with the softness of the vanilla. Like Ellis Brooklyn BEE, this is another fragrance I reach for during the cooler months, and it's a unisex fragrance that smells great on everyone- I have definitely sprayed this on both myself and my boyfriend before we left for a date. If you like warmer, spicier scents, this is the perfume in the set for you.

Valentino Voce Viva Intensa, 1.2 mL - Estimated Value $3.20

Certificate allegedly redeems for the 10 mL Eau de Parfum Spray.

I was really excited to try Voce Viva Intensa- I was curious about how it smelled in general, but I also wanted to know if it would smell good enough that I would rather have a travel-sized version of this rather than a travel-sized bottle of one of the perfumes I already own and love in the full-size. Unfortunately, Sephora seems to have made that decision for me- the online website doesn't carry a travel spray of Voce Viva Intensa, and when I search the product SKU listed on the fragrance voucher in the set for this one, I get a "product not found" message. I don't know what happened here, and it's a shame because Voce Viva Intensa is a delicious warm floral I would have been happy to own. It has an opening of Calabrian bergamot and Mandarin accord, a heart of orange blossom and Indian jasmine, and a base of bourbon vanilla and moss accord. It has a sensual, sophisticated edge to it that made me keep smelling my wrist once I applied it, and I thought the staying power was nice, too.

Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid, 1.2 mL - Estimated Value $3.96

Certificate redeems for the 10 mL Eau de Parfum Travel Spray that retails for $33

Ruby Orchid is the newest addition to the Flowerbomb line and it was released late last year. I spritzed this on my wrist when I was at a Sephora in December, and it instantly captivated me- I couldn't stop smelling it, and I couldn't stop thinking about how amazing it smelled. I would have purchased it for myself if my sister hadn't asked me what I wanted for Christmas and generously gifted me this bottle (and she then went on to buy a bottle for herself, too). Why does she smell so good? At her heart she has a mix of two accords: the ruby orchid and red vanilla bean, which is complimented by sweetness of a juicy peach and the earthiness of vine. She's a warm floral with a touch of sweetness, and she really is just lovely. You'll find plenty of reviews on MSA where I am not very complimentary to the classic Flowerbomb, but I lovingly wear Flowerbomb Ruby Orchid year-round and will defend her honor in the comments if needed.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $25

Cost Breakdown: This kit costs $25, and I received exactly $20 worth of perfume samples and a voucher to redeem for a bottle of travel-size perfume of my choice that ranges in price from $28-$33. No matter what, you save at least $3 off the perfume you choose, and that doesn't include the value of the mini perfume samples this set comes with.

Key Takeaways

It's no secret that I am a fan of Sephora Favorite Sets, but that doesn't mean I give Sephora a free pass to slap their name on a box of random perfumes and call it a successful curation. I knew based on the brands included that this was probably going to be the best-smelling perfume set I've seen from Sephora, and I do think that's accurate. All of these perfumes smell lovely, but they all are a little different so almost anyone should be able to find a perfume they're happy with in this set. Though if your favorite perfume in this set is the Valentino one, that's a bummer. I'm really not sure what happened here, but I don't think this voucher will be able to redeem for it unless it's an upcoming launch for Sephora and the timing is just poor. Even with this mishap, though, I still strongly recommend this set. I've been using the four remaining perfumes for months (some for more than a year), and I love all of them for various reasons. I'll be using my voucher to get a travel-sized spray of Ruby Orchid, and I would love to know which perfume you would choose if you had this set.

Other Things You Should Know

Can you still get this box if you order today? Yes, this set is still available for purchase while stocks last!

Can the voucher be redeemed online? Yes! Sephora recently changed its voucher program to allow for in-store or online redemption. You can't redeem this at a Sephora inside JCPenney store, Kohl’s store, or Sephora Canada store, so the ability to redeem online is a great option for people who don't have a local Sephora but still want to take advantage of it (and when you do you get to add your two free samples to your order, even if you're not buying anything else).

Is it hard to redeem the voucher? No, but sometimes you have to enter the code a few times when there are letters that could be mistaken for numbers and vice versa. Your voucher has two barcodes at the bottom- you want to use the "certificate promo barcode" number and enter it in the space to enter coupons. Also, if you're not sure if a character is an uppercase 'i"  or lowercase "L" or the number 1, in my experience it's usually the number 1.

Is shipping free? Shipping is free on all orders over $50 and costs $6.50 for orders under $50 (though since the pandemic started you can usually find a free shipping coupon for smaller orders that will stack with other coupon codes)

FYI Sephora finally released the Valentino Voce Viva Intense travel spray online! Not sure why they included it so long after releasing this set. & I just redeemed my scent certificate a few days ago for a different scent. But, if anyone still hasn’t redeemed & wanted that scent it’s finally available.

I chose replica and am very pleased with the smoky smell. Kinda like lush roasting chestnuts on an open fire-but better.

I loved this curation, I had a hard time choosing between the By The Fireplace and the Ellis Brooklyn Bee, I ended up getting the Ellis!!! The only one i was not wild about of the 5 was the Flowerbomb scent.

I also received a bogus certificate for a product that’s perenially out of stock (Yves Saint Laurent Libre) in a prior box. It put me off trusting these boxes permanently. Life’s way too short to have to chase a product I’ve paid for.

Bambi, the ysl libre travel spray is FINALLY back in stock!! I just redeemed mine a few days ago!

How do I redeem for my libre? I have the card, but neither number seems valid. 🙁
TIA

My problem would be choosing which to redeem for — I’m obsessed with By The Fireplace, but BEE sounds amazing, and Flowerbomb is always good!

I wish they did a curation of the more modern, non-classic perfumes. Clean Reserve and Maison Margiela “Replica” scents are a step in the right direction, but also Jo Malone, Aerin, Skylar, Juliette Has a Gun, Nest, Atelier Cologne, Derek Lam 10 Crosby, maybe DedCool (haven’t tried that one yet). Honestly, I’d pay a lot more for a set of samples from those brands.

Would also really appreciate a Tom Ford sampler, and with Jo Malone specifically I wish they did discovery sets of all their limited edition collections. I realized at some point that I really can’t justify buying full size perfumes anymore – I already have enough to last me probably literally until retirement (i.e. a few decades). Their 9ml travel size (like the ones we got in the Macy’s Jo Malone box) would last me forever, and in fact even the sample sizes can last quite a long while with everything else I have in rotation.

My usual criticism of Ulta is that they don’t have any interesting scents, and the only interesting one they do have (the hypnotic Lake & Skye “11 11”) is only sold online, but Sephora has such a great variety, except that they aren’t really doing much with it IMO. 🤷‍♀️

Dang it, I caved! 😂 I’ve been wanting to try By the Fireplace forever…

By the Fireplace is honestly the best fall/winter perfume. I buy a bottle every year, and it truly just captures fall! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do 💖

Sephora did the same thing with the last small sampler set, with Valentino’s Donna Born in Roma Yellow Dream. It doesn’t come in a sample size but they advertised it as so. It made a lot of people annoyed, me included, that’s the perfume I would have chosen if I could have. I didn’t purchase this set just because they did this again. False advertising sucks.
