Book of the Month has announced the final 20 nominees for their annual Book of the Year award.
“Our members are passionate, thoughtful, and expansive in their taste, and this year’s fantastic list of nominees proves that,” said Book of the Month’s Editorial Director Brianna Goodman in a press release. “We are so fortunate to have been able to work with our publishing partners to connect this wide variety of wonderful books and their authors with our readership.”
Also known as "The Lolly," the Book of the Year Award has been given out since 1926. This year, the list features a diverse array of books by predominantly female authors that were read--and loved--by Book of the Month’s members over the past year. Subscribers can vote for their choice of winner through September 21. The winner will receive the Lolly statue, which resembles a bookish version of the Academy Award, and a $25,000 prize. Four finalists will also receive $10,000.
Previous winners include: The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah (2021) and The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett (2020).
