ICONIC London Desk to Dance Palette - Retail Value $54
Let's kick this review off with a bang! Just LOOK at this palette! It is a summer-to-fall dream color story. And ICONIC has cleverly arranged the shades in columns that are mini color palettes, making designing your eye look effortless. There are so many winning shades in here to choose from. I was really impressed with the pigment levels here and how unique some of the colors were. Specifically, the magical Money Plant and Sitting Pretty shades. Both have a rich base color but a totally unexpected glitter/shimmer built in that makes them so rich. Going Places was another highlight due to its unique brushed velvet texture finish. I can't wait for all the weddings I have this fall to make use of this palette.
GLAMGLOW Supercleanse Clearing Cream-to-Foam Cleanser, 5 fl oz - Retail Value $32
Oil-fighting, mattifying, and clarifying are three words I tend to avoid when it comes to my cleansers. They are usually more suited to oily and acne-prone skin and products. Me? Well, I am a dry, flaky mess. I did choose to test this cleanser out on my chin and jawline since I do often have a few unsightly bumps and blemishes there around my period. And I do think it helped! My skin looked less red and I swear the incubation time for some of those bumps was shortened. I might hang on to this tube specifically for that reason, unless Will discovers it and steals it away. I am a little sad this isn't ideal for me because it is a large tube and it smells quite herbal and wonderful.
ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr BrowKiki Micro Brow Defining Pencil in '#4 Medium Brown' - Retail Value $19
Brow pencils seem to be plentiful in my boxes lately, which is a smidge unfortunate since I use tinted brow gel pretty exclusively. This is mostly due to them being fool-proof and designed to work for someone who is a little less precise with her brows. Pencils like this lend themselves more to precision strokes and sculpting, which I am usually not doing. I will say that I did love this particular shade in my brows and found it easier to work with than I expected. I think the spoolie on one end helps style and fluff the brows really well and can disguise a less-than-perfect brow fill-in. Which I greatly appreciate!
ELEMIS Superfood Fruit Vinegar Liquid Glow - 145 mL - Retail Value $36
Glow tonics like this are having a moment and for good reason! They are an easy way to swipe on a gentle chemical exfoliant that smoothes and brightens skin without being super irritating. This formula contains a blend of AHA-rich fruit extracts that helps remove dead skin and tone the skin, creating a more smooth and bright finish. I think a toner like this is a great alternative for anyone who finds the BHA+AHA exfoliating combos irritating but still want to see similar benefits. And if you saw the word vinegar and felt concerned about the smell of this toner? No worries! It smells nothing like vinegar and more like fruit.
Benefit Cosmetics California Kissin' ColorBalm Moisturizing Lip Balm in 'Poppy' - Retail Value $21
My mom and I were just at Ulta checking these lipsticks out! And while this shade is much more in my wheelhouse than hers, I can't wait to share this formula with her. She is where I learned to love those effortless sort of "purse" lipstick shades that you can just apply without a mirror and reapply all day effortlessly. And this formula absolutely falls into that category. It is a balm + lipstick sort of hybrid, with the pigment levels of lipstick but the smoothness and conditioning of a balm. It is also super shiny! This shade is a bright orange-red and while mom likes more pink colors, I am way into it. I will have to buy her the 'Ruby' shade!
Dear Midnight Star-Crossed Eyeliner Duo - Retail Value $38
My last item was an eyeliner duo. Inside the floral noir box was a black liner and shimmering silver liner. I don't get excited about black eyeliner but I was kind of looking forward to the shimmer. Sadly the color payoff was abysmal and, frankly, I don't see the point of fighting with eyeliner to get it to show up for the party. And at a price point of $38? I need to see a lot more pigment and a smoother texture to justify that.
Verdict
I really liked this month's BoxyCharm Premium box. It has a great total value of $200 and had some really big brands, as I expect from this Boxycharm tier. I mean, that palette alone is worth more than the cost of the whole box and it was amazing. Add in a nice toner, an amazing lipstick, and even more goodies? This one felt like a winner in product and value. Keep it up Boxycharm!
