First Impressions
This box comes in a fun bright pink Barbie-branded box. When you open it up, everything is neatly wrapped in tissue paper and ribbon so it feels like you're unboxing a present.
This box also came with a booklet with more information about the products inside.
What's Inside The Box
ĀTHR Beauty Moonlight Crystal Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $58
This eyeshadow is a beauty. I love the unique shape of the shadow pans, and that the palette comes without a mirror so that the entire packaging is recyclable. And truly, the shimmers in this shade are just so pretty. The formulas here are a little hard to work with if you're trying to use a bunch, but I've been loving this palette using one of the lighter shimmery shades all over my lid with a deeper shade lining my lash line. My favorite look so far has been using the shade 'Full Moon" (which is described as a lilac-peach duo chrome shimmer but I call it a shimmery grey just with a unique-ness to it) all over my lid, and then taking either "Eclipse" (purple black metallic) or "Manifest" (amethyst metallic) and smudging it along my lower lash line. I feel like that gives me an instant smokey eye in only two steps!
Here is the palette swatched.
Barbie™ X GLOSSYBOX Skincare Gentle Foaming Cleanser, 100 mL - Estimated Value $17?
Glossybox said in their box description this cleanser was worth $30, but I can't find a Barbie-branded cleanser for sale anywhere online and this is the same size (and I'm 99.99% the same formula) as the regular Glossybox Skincare Gentle Foaming Cleanser, so that's the product I linked to and pulled the value from. I appreciate the pump top of this cleanser- it truly creates a big thing of foam by the time it's made it from inside the bottle and into my hand, and it does a good job of leaving my skin feeling clean but not stripped.
Cuvee Beauty Champagne Infused Eau De Parfum Rollerball, 26 mL - Retail Value $28
I like that this box included a perfume—Barbie definitely seems like the kind of girl to smell good every single day no matter what. This fragrance from Cuvee has notes of orange, guava, fig, vitiver, and amber for a fresh, fruity-floral scent. I find it a bit too simple for my nose (I like fruity-floral fragrances, but prefer them to have more depth), but I would still wear it if I had no other perfume handy.
Emilie Heathe Makeup Hair Clips in Chai Latte, 2 ct - Retail Value $18
I love that this set came with hair clips, too- Barbie was always a well-accessorized woman. These clips are great for pinning hair away from your face (think bangs, not an entire curtain of hair) while you're doing your makeup, and I love the color scheme of the "chai latte" pattern we received.
First Aid Beauty Eye Duty Niacinamide Brightening Cream, 3 mL - Estimated Value $7.20 (buy the 15 mL version for $36)
This eye cream sample is tiny and I find it adorable. Where I would be annoyed to receive such a small sample in any other product, it makes sense for an eye cream that is smaller to begin with (especially since you only need a little bit). This light-weight eye cream is made with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to hydrate and brighten dark circles under your eyes, and I like that it doesn't irritate my eyes which can be on the sensitive side.
Floss Highlighter in Sunbeam - Retail Value $20
This cream-based highlighter gives you an impressive shimmer pigment when you apply it with your fingers, and that is my least favorite way to apply makeup products (give me a brush any day). It blends out very easily, however, and I like how the dewy finish of this highlighter looks on my face.
KNESKO Skin Rose Quartz Antioxidant Collagen Face Mask - Retail Value $37
I truly love these Knesko masks so much I stalk the Boxycharm Drop Shop every time it's open to non-subscribers just to see if I can grab more of them at a discount. Their masks are the best sheet masks I have ever used, which is honestly what you would hope for at $37 a pop. They're made of a thick hydrogel material that stays cooling on my skin for hours (the longest I've gone is a little over two), and they always leave my skin calm and glowing without any essence dripping down my neck. This is exactly the kind of mask I can see Barbie using when she's treating herself to some self-care, and I love that it was included in this box.
Makeup Eraser The Original Makeup Eraser (Mini) - Retail Value $20
I'm always happy to see reusable functional items in a box- especially when it's a brand name like the Makeup Eraser. This works really well with water to remove makeup thanks to some magic with its patented fibers, but my preferred way to use it is following up a cleansing oil or balm when I am removing waterpoof mascara and eyeliner. I find that to be a successful combo for removing all of the makeup without irritating my eyes or losing a bunch of my lashes.
Revolution Beauty Pout Bomb Plumping Gloss in Candy, 0.15 oz - Retail Value $7
I liked the fact that this lip gloss did give my lips a noticeable increase in plumpness without being painful or causing irritation along my lips, but the shade I received just is a bad fit for my skin tone. It's like a milky-leaning-opaque pale beige that was not flattering when I applied it on its own- I ended up wiping it off before leaving my hotel room and applying a different product to my poutier lips.
Here is the lip gloss swatched to the left of the Floss highlighter.
Spectrum Collections A10 Small Fan Brush - Retail Value $9.99
This brush could not pick up the cream-based formula of the floss highlighter, and I was a little befuddled that Glossybox would include a highlighter brush that didn't work on the box's included highlighter. In Spectrum's defense, their website description does state that this is for powder foundation, and I like small fan brushes like these for using a soft touch with my highlighter- it usually results in my skin looking more luminous without it being obvious I'm actually wearing highlighter.
Here I am wearing the ATHR palette and Floss highlighter before my birthday dinner the other night. I loved the simple smokey eye- the pretty duchrome color shift made it feel like I was cheating at getting such a pretty look.
Verdict
As soon as I saw this limited edition box from GlossyBox included a Knesko skin mask, I was invested in giving this box a try. Honestly, I think it's pretty solid for the $35 cost ($30 if you're a subscriber)—that's $2 less than the cost of one single Knesko skin mask, and you get six other full-size products and some samples to try out too. It was fun imagining if Barbie would actually use the products in this box or what her skincare routine would be like—ever since I saw those photos of Margot Robbie in neon pink and yellow roller skating I've been excited about the Barbie-themed items coming out. While some of the products in the curation may seem a bit off the mark, overall I think this is a really fun box for a pretty fair price.
