FYI: GlossyBox sometimes sends out multiple variations of the box during some months, so there may be some variation between what we review and what you receive.

First Impressions

This month’s theme is ‘Golden Hour.’ Ooh, how fun! I’m excited to see what type of product lineup has been curated for this box.

Each month GlossyBox usually arrives with a booklet that includes a list of all the products included in that month's box.

What's Inside The Box

ALPHA-H Liquid Gold Firming Eye Cream, 7.5 ml - Estimated Retail Value $55.00

Front of AlphaH Eye Cream for GlossyBox September 2022

Ooh, I love a good eye cream. I’ve never heard of the Alpha-H brand, but I’m a fan of their packaging. The white and gold combo is truly eye-catching. This eye cream is formulated to be an age-defying cream with quadruple peptide technology as well as illuminating diamond particles, and something super fancy called Native Australian Lime Pearl AHAs. The goal of this cream is to gently exfoliate and tighten the skin of the under eye area. Although I didn’t notice any immediate results from using this eye cream, I am really loving it. The texture is indeed cream-like, but it’s incredibly lightweight and works perfectly in the summer. I applied this eye cream to my clean face after toning, and I found it to be gentle and not at all irritating to my skin. I’m really happy to have this luxurious eye cream.

KAB COSMETICS Illuminating Dust in Golden Hour, 5g - Retail Value $26.00

I gotta be honest, guys… I thought this was a highlighter at first, but turns out it’s not. It’s an ‘illuminating dust,’ which is made to provide a shimmer to just about every part of your body. Whether you want to brighten up your face, eyes, or body, you can easily sweep some of this glimmery dust across the skin, and voilà, instant shimmer. That being said, yes, this absolutely can be used as a typical highlighter for the cheekbones, nose, brow bone, etc., but it’s so much more than that. Will I use this as a highlighter? Absolutely. It provides a beautiful shimmer that works perfectly with my skin tone, but as far as my body, I think I’m good on the shimmer. The formula of this product is super smooth to the touch and well pigmented. Definitely a high-quality product that’s easily buildable and blendable; great for creating all kinds of looks, from a natural one to a more dramatic one. It really stays on all day, which is great, and a little goes a long way. I’ll be using this on my next night out for sure.

VITA LIBERATA Tinted Tanning Mist in Medium, 50 ml - Estimated Retail Value $4.88

Huh, a tanning mist. Interesting. Thanks to my natural skin tone, I have never had the need to tan. So, honestly, I don’t see myself using this product now or at any point in the future. I did give it a quick pump just to see what it would be like, and I have to say, it’s fast-drying and definitely packs a punch of brightness to the skin. I also appreciate the ingredients in this product, which includes a formula of organic aloe vera, organic glycerin, and hyaluronic acid, leaving skin feeling intensely hydrated. Something I found really interesting about this product is that you have two options; you can build your tan gradually or you can customize your final shade immediately. If I were someone who would benefit from this product, that’s something I would definitely appreciate. So, if you’re looking to step up your tan game, this tanning mist could be for you. In my case, I’ll be passing this along to a fairer-skinned friend of mine, and I think they’ll really enjoy it.

NATURA EKOS Murumuru Restoring Hair Mask, 30 g - Estimated Retail Value $5.10

I have a LOT of hair, so this hair mask was a one-time thing for me, unfortunately. That being said, I really enjoyed it! My hair is coarse and on the dry side. After applying the product to my wet hair, I put on a shower cap and let it sit for a while before rinsing it all out. This mask really did a wonderful job. It left my hair feeling so soft and manageable while also helping to rein in my frizz. The texture of the mask is a luxurious cream, which is nice, and it has a delightful scent to it that can be a bit overbearing if you’re sensitive to scents; but honestly, it smells absolutely divine and mostly dissipates after rinsing, so that’s not a dealbreaker for me. It really left my hair with a great shine, too. I was quite impressed with this product overall.

KUESHI Vanilla Shower Gel, 200 ml - Listed Value $6.50

I love seeing a shower gel included in this month’s curation! It’s the kind of product that I like to switch up on a regular basis but one that I don’t often receive in subscription boxes. This Kueshi Naturals Vanilla Shower Gel has a scrumptious vanilla scent. It reminds me a bit of cupcakes… But maybe that’s just me. I’m not one for heavily scented products on a regular basis, but this gel really smells good and it’s not at all overpowering though definitely present. This feels lovely on my skin and leaves it feeling soft and hydrated and smelling fresh. The lather is really nice and velvety, and the product cleanses well without stripping my skin of its natural oils, which I appreciate. I’m really happy I got the chance to try out this shower gel.

Verdict

I thought this was a great month for GlossyBox! The highlight for me was the hair mask from Natura. My hair requires a truly heavy-duty hair mask most often, and this one really got the job done. Kueshi Naturals’ shower gel was a welcome surprise and proved itself as a great body cleanser with a delightful scent. The eye cream from Alpha-H was a wonderful new-to-me brand and product, and I was impressed with how lightweight the cream texture was. Although I’m not going to use it all over my body, I’m definitely going to be using KAB Cosmetics’ illuminating dust as a highlighter. I was so impressed with the velvety texture and how long-lasting it is. Lastly, the tanning mist from Vita Liberata… This is not exactly a product for me, but it does contain a powerhouse list of active ingredients, and I’m sure my friend will be a fan. Overall, this box contained a vast array of products, and I appreciate how nicely the selection went with the theme ‘Golden Hour;’ not to mention, the value is there.

This was a regular box so its price was $21, not $30! Wasn’t a fan of the dust or tanning spray but that hair mask and eye cream were primo.

Also, the body gel spilled all over my box, the cap was open. And so I emailed them, and 3 days later, they replied asking for pictures. By that time , I had thrown away the soggy stuff. So I didn’t send them one, and it’s my loss now.

My body gel spilled all over my box also…I emailed them and they actually sent me another box, no questions asked. Well, that box had spilled body gel in as well! Over all, nothing in the box was thrilling to me anyway.

Yea. That is rude. Sending a self tanner , and assuming that everyone wants or needs to self tan. Hello Glossybox?
For the record, I am pale skinned, and it just lays down a pigment that could rub off on clothes, furniture , etc, and then it washes off. I wouldn’t define it as a self tanner. It’s a tanning mist that puts color on.

Yeah, subscription boxes also regularly send anti-frizz hair products, which you can’t use if you have fine, thin hair. They also send out too much sunscreen, which some people can’t use. So we all miss out at times. But I do agree, and feel that a tanning product should maybe be a 6th item, just an add-on, not one of the five.
