First Impressions
Each Brown Sugar Box used to include a mini-magazine that highlights the theme of the box, lists the products included, and offers interesting and inspiring articles. This month’s box is the 'Queen of the Kitchen' edition. The first thing I noticed is that the mini magazine has gone digital. You can easily scan the QR code using your phone and swipe through the digitized version via your web browser. I love it when companies make an effort to go digital because it’s great for the planet, and minimizing my carbon footprint is something that’s important to me.
Now, on to the items!
IZZY AND LIV ‘The Secret Ingredient is Me’ T-Shirt - Retail Value $28
I think this t-shirt is so cute, and I absolutely love the phrase, “The secret ingredient is me.” I also really enjoy the color; it’s a nice maroon shade, which is perfect for fall. The shirt has a nice cut, as usual, and it’s very comfortable and soft against the skin, which I appreciate (not at all scratchy). In fact, I think this is one of my favorite shirts I’ve ever received in a subscription box.
IZZY AND LIV Chef Bae Apron - Retail Value $38
This ‘Chef Bae’ apron is just as adorable as the t-shirt. I love that it has pockets, and the neck strap goes around nicely to keep it secure the whole time you have it on. For me, I’m about 5’1” and it hits just below mid-calf, so it seems to be an average apron length, which is nice. I’m really enjoying the pattern, and this is absolutely perfect for this month’s theme. Subscribers could have received Caribbean Beauty Vibes, Soul Food Queen, or In Her Glory. I received Soul Food Queen.
IZZY AND LIV Utensil Set, 6-pc - Retail Value $24
What a lovely utensil set! This comes with a full set (spoon, knife, and fork), along with a straw, a straw cleaner, and chopsticks. The utensils themselves are a beautiful gold shade with a lovely design on the handles. I appreciate how perfectly they fit into their little black case. This set is perfect to have with you for eating on the go, or to keep in the car for when you grab a meal on the run and forget to ask for utensils (been there, done that). I also love that they promote sustainability and actually help me to lower my carbon footprint. Subscribers could have received Bold Bohemian, Brown Sugar Pearls, Crowned Queen, or Sista Girl. I received Brown Sugar Pearls.
IZZY AND LIV Cuttin’ Up! Knife Set, 3-pc - Retail Value $35
I love these… Definitely the cutest knife set I’ve ever seen. I love the design on the handle of each, and I appreciate immensely that they each have their own little sheath covering the blade. I’m interested to see how these will hold up over time in terms of rusting and whatnot, but I have high hopes for them. They do look incredibly sturdy, and they work well for chopping veggies. I’ll definitely be keeping these in my kitchen and get some good use out of them. Subscribers could have received Caribbean Beauty, Golden Brown Sugar, or Centered Goddess. I received Centered Goddess.
IZZY AND LIV Cleaning Sponge Set For The Culture, 5-pc - Retail Value $10
This sponge set is awesome. I love it when boxes include items that are both decoratively on-theme AND functional. These sponges check all the boxes. They are very good and look like good quality sponges. I really enjoy the variety of colors, and you can find a unique pattern on the end of each. These sponges aren’t exactly for heavy-duty jobs, in my opinion, but they are great to have, and I will be using them in my kitchen for sure.
Verdict
I thought this was a great month for the Brown Sugar Box! The highlight for me personally was definitely this month’s t-shirt. I love the phrase, the color, and the overall design. Having a dedicated utensil set for on the go is great and definitely something everyone should have in their arsenal. Going with the month’s theme, we also received a three-piece knife set and a five-piece sponge set. The knives are perfect for prepping food, whereas the sponges are just what I need to help me clean up after my meals. Lastly, the apron… It’s such a cute piece with a beautiful design, and it couldn’t suit the theme, “Queen of the Kitchen,” more perfectly. Overall, I thought this was an awesome month. Each item included went along perfectly with this month’s theme, which I always appreciate, and the value is definitely there.
