BomiBox "Super Glow" Box Review

Beauty of Joseon Propolis + Niacinamide Glow Serum, 1 oz - Retail Value $17

I was really, really excited to see this full-size serum in this month's box. My skin loves propolis, and Beauty of Joseon is a trendy Korean skincare brand I have been seeing on Instagram quite a bit and have been wanting to try more of. This serum did not disappoint- my only complaint would be that it feels like I'm going through it quickly! This formula is 60% propolis extract, 2% niacinamide, and it also has hyaluronic acid, Cica, and other soothing botanicals. This bottle is not going to last long, because I have really been enjoying it and am reaching for it frequently.

Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner, 5 oz - Retail Value $18

I have tried a few different products from this Acwell Licorice line, and I have enjoyed all of them. This is also a product sold online at Soko Glam, a US-based K-beauty retailer that I really like. I always feel like if Soko Glam is carrying a brand or product, than that's a K-beauty product that's been verified as being extra great. By the name of this I wasn't quite sure if this was a cleansing micellar water or toner, but this is indeed a toner designed to balance and calm your skin. My skin really likes licorice as an ingredient, and I like how this toner leaves my skin feeling refreshed and not dry or tight.

Enough Collagen Moisture Essential Mist, 100 ml - Retail Value $5

This mist is pretty basic - it's made with hydrolyzed collagen to add moisture to your skin, and not much else. I’m a big fan of using toners like this with a mist nozzle, and this was gentle and layered well.

Pyunkang Yul Travel Set - Estimated Value $18.80

I couldn't find an exact match for the Pyunkang Yul travel set I received, but I linked to one that was very similar. This arrived right before I left town for Thanksgiving, so the timing was perfect. I like that it came packaged in a pouch in case any liquids spilled- that didn't happen, but it's nice to know there's a layer of protection between my clothes and my skincare in case the air pressure of being 10,000 feet in the sky gets a little much. This set comes with a deluxe sample of the nutrition cream, essence toner, and deep cleansing foam and a set of foil samples. I wasn't planning on putting the cleanser to the test removing my makeup, however I somehow left my cleansing balm out of my skincare bag and this is all I had- it did a surprisingly good job at removing mascara and eyeshadow without causing my eyes to burn! I already knew I was a big fan of the hydrating essence toner, and I liked how nourishing the nutrition cream was to my skin.

Missha Airy Fit Sheet Mask in Honey - Retail Value $3

This sheet mask is made of a very thin and ~airy~ material that's drenched in a honey-infused essence. The mask material being so thin meant that it fit the curves of my face really well, and I like that along with honey this features licorice root and ginger.

Tonymoly I'm Real Tea Tree Sheet Mask - Retail Value $3

I'm pretty positive that the I'm Real sheet mask line from Tony Moly was actually the first brand of sheet masks I ever used. I would like to think I've moved on to bigger and fancier masks, but seeing these always makes me smile. Along with tea tree, this has allantoin and banana extract, and this fit my face decently well. It has a thicker sheet mask material so it doesn't fit my face as well as the Missha mask does, but it's nothing particularly bothersome- I've had masks that fit much worse than this one.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $44.99

Value Breakdown:

  • Beauty of Joseon: $17
  • Acwell: $18
  • Enough: $5
  • Pyunkang Yul: $18.80
  • Missha: $3
  • Tony Moly: $3

Everything in the box adds up to $64.80.

Key Takeaways

I really like my BomiBox subscription, and this month's box was another really good box for me. The stars of the box for me were the Beauty of Joseon serum and Pyunkang Yul set, but the Acwell toner wasn't far behind. If you're only looking at the numbers you may feel like the value isn't there compared to some other subscription boxes, but there's a lot of value there for me for those brands I recognize and trust (like Acwell and Pyunkang Yul), even if they don't have an arbitrarily higher retail value. Also, remember that you need to take these prices with a grain of salt since most of them can only be purchased overseas and that makes finding consistent pricing for them difficult. If you're looking for a monthly beauty box comprised exclusively of K-Beauty products, BomiBox is one of the best out there.
