BoxyCharm is a $27.99 monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. They always provide a great value compared to the cost of the box and include 5-6 beauty items that include nail care, skincare, makeup, haircare, fragrance, and more. First Impressions

Boxycharm always arrives with a cute card detailing all of the products inside and listed retail values.

Now, on to the items!

Dominique Cosmetics Unconditional Palette – Retail Value $28

How does this brand do such stunning packaging? Legit, it puts more expensive brands to shame. This heavy acrylic case just feels amazing befoe you even open it and see the gorgeous shades inside. But, no matter how pretty a palette's packaging is, it really can't make up for lackluster formulas inside. Luckily for us, Dominique Cosmetics usually hits eyeshadows out of the park. This set of 6 lives up to the hype. Each is wonderfully smooth and effortlessly pigmented. The color story is very wearable, with 4 more subdued shades, one dramatic plum, and an over-the-top gold glitter that is a great fit for the holiday season. I can't wait to enjoy this color story over New Year's Eve!

Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum, 15 mL - Retail Value $89

Murad is such a great brand but more often than not, if it shows up in a subscription box, it is acne-focused. This means I have a lot of lucky friends who get gifted Murad. I am in my mid-30s and I am much more aging-focused than prone to acne. This eye serum is tailored for those of us who want to avoid fine lines and wrinkles around our eye area for as long as possible. It contains anti-aging superhero retinol, plumping hyaluronic acid, and loads of skin-protecting antioxidants. It is a cooling gel formula that absorbs in a snap and a little goes a long way!

Laruce Beauty Brush Set – Listed Value $38

This trio of eye brushes feel very festive in their holiday burgundy and rose gold. I tend to like this brand because they have rubberized handles that just feel great to hold. The bristles are always decent too and work well with my powder formulas.

REALHER Set Your Goal Blurring Veil Powder, 8 g – Listed Value $25

I didn't expect to like this loose powder. Mostly because I just don't really ever use loose powder and find it quite the opposite of exciting. I have enjoyed REALHER products in the past though, so I swatched this one with some excitement. I was pretty sure it was way too warm for my skin because it has a beautiful warm glow in the packaging while my skin tone is more like printer paper than sunshine. But when you blend this formula with your fingers or a brush it turns super sheer and even has a gorgeous pearly finish that I never would have expected from looking at it fresh out of the box. I am going to hang onto this stuff for setting heavier makeup looks for the holiday season.

Lapalette Beauty Vita Yellow Fresh Cleanser, 100 mL - $32

My last item is a jelly cleanser from a Korean brand I have never tried before. It is a sunny shade of yellow and smells exactly like you imagine it would: citrusy! It is also formulated to be brightening and moisturizing, with ceramides, vitamin C, and antioxidants from yellow fruits like lemon, grapefruit, and pineapple. I loved it.

Verdict

This month's BoxyCharm had a value that was hard to really compute because I couldn't find them online at their retail costs. But this is easily a valuable box! The Murad product alone has a retail value of $89 which is well over the subscription cost of Boxycharm per month. I also loved the eyeshadow palette, cheerful yellow cleanser, and powder. I certainly don't need any more brushes, but I loved these just the same. All in all, this month's curation was a homerun for me!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I wish I’d received the setting powder. I love setting powder and use a lot. But I did get a Dip Pomade from Anastasia and SURPRISE SURPRISE! it came in Auburn (I’m a redhead). Stunned, I tell you (love it!).

I read your review while I was at work and was thinking that I would like to try the cleanser, although not so much the rest of the box. When I got home, I found out that you and I are 100% box twins this month! At least I got the cleanser I wanted. I also really like most Murad products, so, while I don’t necessarily love eye serums, I will definitely give this one a try.
