First Impressions

Boxycharm always arrives with a cute card detailing all of the products inside and listed retail values.

Now, on to the items!

Herbivore CLOUD JELLY Plumping Hydration Serum, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $48

Herbivore is one of those brands that I love because they somehow make a super cute product that actually works. The formulas perform beautifully but the bottles are pretty enough to leave out on your vanity and admire. This light pink goo had me smiling immediately and the mushroom and strawberry pattern on the box is something I want on a shirt! Inside is a blend of tremella mushroom extract (a hyaluronic acid alternative), vegan collagen, and brightening strawberry extract. It applies like a squishy gel that absorbs easily and leaves skin feeling bouncy and fresh. Its a great daytime serum step between cleansing and moisturizing.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Off to Costa Rica Face Palettes – Retail Value $58

Sometimes you get a product in a box that you know you are going to tuck away for summertime, and this palette is IT. The bright coral blush screams warm-weather vibes and the bronzer and golden highlighter are a much better match to my summer skin tone. If I really wanted to play with this right now, I could totally use the shades as eye shadows, but I think I will be tucking the rose gold compact away to enjoy after the snow is gone.

Mally Beauty Best Dressed Lids Eyeshadow Palette – Retail Value $45

I really wanted to fall in love with this palette. The shades are muted and lush, exactly like the color stories I gravitate towards. But the performance and quality of these shades is all over the place. Some shades really stand out for texture and pigment (Monday Meeting, Dance Party, Black Tie Event, Romantic Picnic) while others are just patchy and bad (Cocktail Hour, Date Night, Girls Night Out). I was actually floored at just how inconsistent these shades swatched across the board. And with so many amazing palettes out there to choose from, I don't see this one making the cut for my collection.

ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr Secure the Blur Makeup Magnet Primer, 35 mL – Retail Value $30

I don't generally use primers because I rarely wear more than a minimal amount of makeup on a daily basis, but with holiday parties coming up, I absolutely want a primer in my arsenal that will keep my sparkling looks in place all night. This grippy primer from Patrick Starrr is certainly a contender! In addition to giving my makeup longevity, it also smoothes pores before I even apply any. And as someone with rather textured skin, this is a welcome bonus!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Freeze Extreme Hold Laminated-Look Sculpting Wax, 8 g – Retail Value $23

Full disclosure: I have a wrist injury right now and try as a might, I could not get this stuff open! Luckily, this is already a product I know and love. It is a thicker sort of waxy-gel that is crystal clear. Grab a spoolie and dip, then use it to brush your brow hairs into exactly the shape you want. This is my go-to product if I want that dramatic and laminated look! You need very little per use, meaning this little tub lasts forever. Especially if I can't ever get it open!

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in "Uncuffed", 4 mL – Retail Value $26

This is the 3rd shade of this formula I have ever tried and I continue to love this liquid lip. And as someone who generally avoids matte finishes, that is high praise. In addition to being wildly pigmented, the drydown finish looks matte but stays softer and velvety on the lips. This time I received "Uncuffed", a rosy brown shade that might be too brown for me. I haven't quite decided yet!

Dear Midnight Atelier Set to Last Setting Spray, 60 mL – Retail Value $30

Much like primer, setting spray is a product I don't generally use often. But, it's about to be party time! I was immediately captured by the celestial design of this moody black spray. It is absolutely beautiful. I also love how this setting spray doesn't have anything harsh or drying like alcohol and instead has ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and panthenol. It also has a lightweight beautiful scent.

Dew of the Gods The Weekend Glow Challenge Mask Duo, 2 masks – Retail Value $40

This last product created a contrast between my love of sheet masks and my intense dislike of them being priced ridiculously high. I actually loved the concept of this pack. It contains two masks both designed to be used on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. It is a very easy way to sneak a little glowing self-care into a weekend and treat yourself even if you don't have time to pamper for hours. Both of the masks fit well and absolutely brought the glow factor! I just get hung up on the $40 price tag because most sheet masks are capable of delivering the same level of magic without being so darn expensive! Regardless, I loved trying these in my box this month.

Verdict

The total retail value of this BoxyLuxe was $300, which is a wonderful value for a $60 box. The curation this quarter was also great! It has the luxe brands I would expect from this tier of Boxy (Herbivore, Anastasia, Fenty, etc.) and felt very well-rounded between makeup and skincare. And, sure, the eyeshadow palette didn't quite meet my desires and I likely won't use the primer or setting spray all that much, but the big ticket items certainly make this assortment a winner.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
