The Breakdown - What's Inside My November 2022 Petit Vour Box
Juice Beauty Illuminating Primer, 15 mL - Estimated Value $18 (buy the 30 mL version for $36)
Juice Beauty isn't a brand that particularly excites me, but I will say this primer performed well for me- better than some other products from the brand that I've tried. It's silicone-free (which means it's important that you don't pair this with a foundation that has silicones otherwise your foundation will separate when you apply it) and is made with aloe, sunflower oil, and lilac extract, and I really did like the way this looked on my skin. I used it with a light coverage foundation because I didn't really have any acne to cover up, and I thought that this primer did a good job being a base for foundation while adding a tiny touch of natural-looking glow.
Petit Vour Plum Body, 2 oz - Estimated Value $24 (buy the 4 oz version for $48)
'Tis the season for dry skin! And even though I know this, I still am not great about preemptively applying lotions or body oils to keep my skin nourished and am then left scrambling when my skin feels dry, itchy, or tight. That's exactly what happened when I put this body oil to the test- my legs were mad at me for not giving them any hydration (and to be fair, they had a point) and were super itchy, so I applied this anti-oxidant rich body oil made with plum oil. I wasn't expecting it to smell like a spa thanks to the lavender, frankincense, sage, patchouli, and sandalwood, so that was a pleasant surprise. And my skin soaked this up and the itching subsided immediately- wins all around!
Kaia Naturals Starter Kit in Sakura Blossom - Retail Value $18
Oh, I quite liked this set- it features a bar of soap specifically designed to tackle underarm body odor thanks to ingredients like activated charcoal, and it features menthol, spearmint, rosemary, and coconut oil. I found it refreshing and it wasn't harsh at all- and I did like the smell. The natural deodorant came in the sakura blossom scent, which I found to be mild and mostly something I didn't notice. I like that using these together tackles body odor moreso than just natural deodorant does on its own, especially if you're switching to a natural deodorant and your body isn't used to it.
Busy Co Hand Wipes, 4 ct - Retail Value $8
I wasn't quite sure what these were at first- hand sanitizing wipes? Makeup remover? But they're wet wipes infused with good-for-your skin ingredients like collagen, peptides, and aloe vera. I was still a little befuddled trying to figure out how I should use them, until I realized that these are meant to be stored in my truck or purse and then used when a sticky situation arises or you feel like you need to freshen up. With that frame of mind, I realized how useful these actually were to me (and thought about all the times I wished I had wipes like these handy when I had accidentally gotten ketchup all over me while eating fries while driving...).
Value - Was This Box Worth It?
The Cost: $18
Cost Breakdown:
- Juice Beauty: $18 → $4.76
- Petit Vour: $24 → $6.35
- Kaia Naturals: $18 → $4.76
- Busy Co: $8 → $2.12
Everything in the box adds up to $68, which is great for an $18 box that sends exclusively vegan beauty products. Alternatively, each of the 4 items has an average cost of $4.50.
Key Takeaways
This month's box from Petit Vour was a another great fit for me. I normally don't get excited over natural deodorants, but I really did like trying out that Kaia Naturals set. The Petit Vour body oil is exactly what my dry skin needed this December, too. While the Juice Beauty primer didn't excite me, it did end up doing its job and working for me so I can't be mad about receiving it. And I already know those hand wipes are going to come in handy in the future, so I am excited to have them stashed in the center console of my truck. Petit Vour does a good job of sending out well-rounded boxes with nice values for under $20, and I appreciate the effort they put in each month (it never feels like filler products have been put in my box the way it can with other subscriptions). If you try to focus on vegan beauty products (or have a friend who does), this is definitely a box you want to check out.
