Back with my December Rocksbox review and I wasn't very original at all. Since I discovered a new designer in November, I've become a creature of habit and rented three more pieces by Lele Sadoughi that were perfect for the holidays!
So, while you may not know of Lele Sadoughi, you are most definitely familiar with her puffy, knotted and jeweled headbands that have been spotted on everyone from Kate Middleton to Lady Gaga and Nicole Kidman. After moving to NYC from Dallas, she started as a jewelry designer for Ippolita, Banana Republic and Rebecca Taylor. In 2006, she launched the first jewelry collection for J. Crew and afterwards, she became the Jewelry Design Director for Tory Burch. In 2012, she launched her namesake brand, and the rest is fashion history.
Rocksbox is a jewelry styling and rental service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy whatever they love at a discounted price. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your ever-growing wishlist. Members can keep and wear the three pieces they receive for as long as they want, or they can switch out sets whenever they'd like. Rocksbox also offers a monthly credit so you can buy the pieces for less.
Concerned about cleanliness? Each piece is sterilized with alcohol jewelry cleaner using medical grade products and handled with jewelry experts wearing gloves.
This is a review of the monthly plan for $21, which includes shipping to the US only.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
Just like other subscription boxes, when I signed up for Rocksbox I had to set up a style profile that asked me questions like my metal preference, and which necklace, earring, bracelet, and ring styles I liked the most.
Let's check out this month's delivery!
What I Received
Lele Sadoughi Pearl Slider Huggie Hoops - Retail Value $145, Member Price $139
About this item: Crafted in 14K gold-plated brass, these medium weight, timeless hoop earrings feature rows of faux pearls and screws, and they measure at 1.25" diameter.
Condition: Brand new with tags.
Review: Classically chic! The earrings are medium weight and they're the perfect size. I love how they can be paired with an elegant ensemble or something a little edgier. I love them, but I think they're overpriced.
Lele Sadoughi Cabochon Hoop Earrings - Retail Price $165, Member Price $158
About this item: Crafted in 14K gold-plated brass, the Cabochon Hoop Earrings feature small, round glass cabochons in pink, purple and green. Measuring at 1.5" diameter and finished in a high polish shine, they're the perfect way to brighten up any look.
Condition: Pristine.
Review: So much fun and so festive. I wore these hoops when I needed to add a dash of color to a neutral outfit or wore to match whatever I was wearing... like the Saylor Pink Lace dress.
Lele Sadoughi Scalloped Pearl Chandelier Earrings - Retail Value $187, Member Price $195
About this item: Lele Sadoughi's Scalloped Pearl Chandelier earrings are 14k gold-plated cylindrical-shaped, scalloped pearl drop earrings measure at 1 1/4" by 1 3/4" in size and they are quite heavy.
Condition: Great.
Review: They're heavy and the backings they had on them were too loose, so the earrings kept sliding off. I had to replace the backings with some of my own and they fit tighter.
The Verdict
Love all three items, and definitely got the most wear out of the pearl hoops, but I'm not going to make a purchase.
Value Breakdown: Rocksbox membership costs $21 per month. At retail, the three pieces would cost me $484. With my Rocksbox discounts and the member pricing including the buy-all-three-items $10 discount, the $10 Forever Credit, the $21 of Shine Credit (the membership fee for the month, which goes towards your purchases), and my Rose Gold Rewards discount of $24.20, the total price for all three items goes down to $418.80.
