Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. When you sign up, you take an in-depth survey of your sizes, your style, and your pricing preferences. After choosing when you’d like to receive your delivery, your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)
My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Fix may be completely different.

First Impressions
Let's take a look at this month's selections, shall we?
What's Inside This Month's Fix
Drea Shirred Shoulder Aline Dress in Dark Green by Maggy London, Size 22w — Retail Value $88
If this doesn't scream the holidays to yinz, I am not sure what does! Velvet dresses always make me think of winter time, and this every green shade makes me think of a decked out Douglas Fir tree. The dress has ample room and stretch, very comfortable to wear. This would look adorable with a white pussybow blouse layered underneath or to make it more casual, a holiday themed turtleneck. I decided to go more in the direction of New Year's Eve and paired this cutie with rhinestone mega hoops and metallic dream western boots from Torrid! Could make this even dressier by styling the outfit with black fishnets and a black faux fur coat for extra glamour!
Odessa Pleather Top by Avec Les Filles, Size 2x-Retail Value $69.00
The least of what I need is another clothing item, but I decided this top was too good to return. Yes, I kept something for a change! This fit on this Avec Les Filles top is just too perfect. It has loads of stretch and it fits me like a dream! I kept it partially because I have black faux leather leggings from Torrid my mom got me last year, so I think this will look fantastic paired with the pants for a very Tura Satana in Faster, Pussycat, Kill! Kill! inspired ensemble! I did appreciate Jami's suggestion to wear the top along with the Tribal brand plaid pants. I didn't wear it with an oversized cardigan, but that is genius! I decided to style it with silver accessories like my booties and earrings as well as oversized clear glasses from Wherelight. This top would look great with everything from jeans (skinny leg or bell bottom) or a pencil skirt. Honestly, the options are endless, though I would only wear this piece in cooler weather so that you aren't sweating in it and having a Ross from Friends moment trying to take this top off!
Fia Pull on Cuffed Pant by Tribal, Size 24w, — Listed Value $58.00
I know I have tried items from the Tribal brand, but for the life of me I couldn't find any recent reviews that included items from them. Periodically, my stylists send me plaid pants to give a try. These take me on a trip down memory lane every time! High school Rude Girl era Nicole of the late 90s would have been stoked to receive these to wear with wing tips and a baby t-shirt! I was obsessed with bands like the Mighty Mighty BossTones, Reel Big Fish, Pietasters, Catch22, Save Ferris, Less Than Jake, The Toasters, and The Specials to just name a few. You would have seen me skanking at a show back then in these, that's for sure! Forty something Nicole still appreciates these pants for that, but even more to wear in an office setting. If I were still working in an office, I would pair these with my favorite black flats, cat eye glasses, and a turtleneck sweater for a Mad Men inspired ensemble. These pants are ultra comfortable due to the stretch and fit. They fit me just fine, but I always could go for a slightly higher waist. I never have issues covering my belly, but I always am concerned my dupa is going to bust out in the back. Wear these with everything from an embroidered cardigan and Mary Janes to your favorite band shirt and platform Converses for more modern take on a casual, yet put together outfit.
Juliette Long Sleeve O'Neck Pullover by Vero Moda, Size 2x — Listed Value $50.99
I wanted to show the Tribal pants paired with something aside from the spectacular Odessa pleather top. Here, I have it with a lovely mustard yellow striped sweater by Vero Moda. I felt like this styling harkened Betsey Johnson with the pattern clashing with splashes of Vivienne Westwood. I love to mix up stripes and plaids, but we know that leopard print is a neutral and goes with everything! I felt like the booties tied it all together well. The sweater itself is very soft and fuzzy, almost a mohair quality, but I believe it is an acrylic. This piece is incredibly cozy and would look great with everything from jeans and platform sneakers to a burgundy or camel mini skirt and knee high boots. You will not only be warm and cozy, but you will look adorable in this one!
Belle Balloon Sleeve Sweater by Vero Moda, Size 2x — Retail Value $47.99
I don't usually go for Royal blues, but when Jami sent me this as an option, I had to give it a go. I liked the very 80s inspired look of this sweater, and of course-- the zebra print! this turned out to be my second favorite item selected for me this month. I was tempted to keep it, but allowed myself to only keep one item from this month's fix. This sweater is so easy to wear-- it allows you to look stylish and keep warm! I loved doing some simple by cohesive styling by pairing this with black fleece lined leggings from Torrid, same oversized rhinestone hoops, and white loafers. This sweater would look awesome with a faux leather mini-skirt, fishnets, and scrunch or knee high faux leather boots for a very late 80s/early 90s look.
The Verdict
This month's Stitch Fix had some great pieces! Jami sent along all items I approved before the Fix was issued. Overall, I feel the items selected were seasonally appropriate and great for the holiday season and cold weather months. I especially loved the pleather top from Avec Les Filles and the blue zebra sweater by Vero Moda. They both are sassy, just like moi! I made sure to provide ample feedback on my opinions on the style and fit of each item to my stylist. I truly can't emphasize how important it is to provide that information on subscription sites. Always give feedback! Not only do I provide direct feedback, but I also "bookmark" or list pieces as favorites on the site for further direction. I have received various items in the past I have bookmarked, so I definitely suggest going through the site to do the same!
Not to be a broken record, but I also can't encourage enough that you provide your Pinterest and Instagram. These will be great assets to your stylist; you are providing visuals on your style, body shape, and how and what you prefer to adorn yourself. Providing all this information makes it easier for your stylist to be able to curate items for your dream Fix. Another plus is that you have the ability to personally select pieces for your Stitch Fix as well! Each month after providing my feedback and my my next box date is selected, I am given the option to choose five of the pieces from a dozen or so my stylist chooses. I love this feature because it allows me to tailor the box to my liking. This is a wonderful option if you are a self proclaimed shop-a-holic like me! Were you also aware that Stitch Fix now allows you to shop on their site for clothing items, accessories, foundation garments, and also shoes without getting a monthly Stitch Fix sent to you? This is ideal if you aren't interested in getting a monthly Fix. You can check out their site and buy their in-house brands outright! With all these ways to enjoy Stitch Fix, you can't lose!
Can you still get these pieces if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its Fixes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!
Value Breakdown: This personal styling service has a $20 styling fee with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $235.48. The cost of each item is listed alongside it, above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $215.48 for the whole box. Ultimately, that’s about a 31% discount!
