First Impressions
Each Brown Sugar Box used to include a mini-magazine that highlights the theme of the box, lists the products included, and offers interesting and inspiring articles. The mini-magazine has gone digital, and now, you can easily scan the QR code using your phone and swipe through the digitized version via your web browser.
This month is the ‘Fierce, Fit, Fine! Edition.’ My box arrived a bit busted, but it’s also very full, so that’s exciting for me. When I first opened up the box, I noticed that the theme was right up my alley… The whole ‘new year, new me’ crew. Plus, I can get all the help I can get when it comes to getting back into fitness.
Now, on to the items!
IZZY AND LIV Stay Hydrated Water Infuser and Juicer - $22
This is such a unique water bottle! I love that it has a lemon squeezer at the bottom, so you can squeeze your own lemon juice while on the go and add it to make your own fruit-infused water. Super convenient for picnics, barbecues, etc. My mind immediately goes to using this for cocktails during a day trip at the beach, which I’m sure it would work nicely for as well. The only downside to this bottle is that it’s not insulated. For my everyday water, I must have an insulated bottle… I absolutely need my water to be ice cold. I think this is a really nice inclusion. Subscribers could have received one of four styles: Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop; Love Yourself Fully; Unbothered and Unbossed; or Faith Over Fear. I received, ‘Unbothered and Unbossed.’
IZZY AND LIV Melanin Drippin’ Cell Phone Pocket with Ring Stand - $15
This cell phone pocket adheres to your phone via a heavy-duty command strip that’s pre-installed on the back. It’ll definitely have a strong hold, but with that in mind, I’m not sure how easy it would be to remove from your actual phone – so, be sure to use it on a case unless you’d like this to be a permanent addition to your naked phone. I can fit about two cards in there, and it’s a bit of a tight squeeze, which is good because it means the cards should be safe in there and not slip out. Such a helpful and convenient addition to any phone. The design on the pocket itself is very cute, and the ring stand’s hardware feels like a good quality and one that should last for a stretch of time. Subscribers could have received one of four styles: Beauty, Radiance, Strength; Sisterhood; ‘Fro Queens; or Simply Irresistible. I received, ‘Sisterhood.’
IZZY AND LIV Work It Out Duffle Bag - $45
I really love this duffle bag. The pattern is fun, and the color combination of the orange and the baby blue is really eye-catching. First thing I noticed about this bag is that it has a little compartment on the bottom for your sneakers. That’s a great addition especially if you’re going to the gym straight from work. It’s very spacious inside, and it’s made from a waterproof type of material, which I appreciate. There’s also a nice front pocket that’s waterproof on the inside so you can store a bikini or a pair of flip flops. The shoulder strap on the duffle is removable, and the clamps on the strap itself look well made. Very easy to clamp them on and off, and the plastic / metal hardware feels like a good quality. The zippers feel very sturdy, and yeah, overall, I love this bag. I’ll be using it quite frequently, whether for the gym or otherwise. Subscribers could have received one of three styles: Beauty, Radiance, Strength; Culture, Confidence, Soul; or Adorned Goddess. I received, ‘Adorned Goddess.’
IZZY AND LIV Get Fit Sportswear T-Shirt - $30
Oh, wow, this shirt is very different compared to others we’ve received in previous boxes. Instead of a standard cotton, this feels like a workout shirt with a bit of elastic blend, which I really like. I absolutely love that the shirt is black. If you’re working out in it and tend to sweat a lot, the dark material helps to hide that. Although I’m a fan of bright colors, black shirts are so much more versatile for me and perfect for everyday wear. I really enjoy the design too; it’s cute and motivational. The ombre rainbow color scheme is also a hit for me. I’m going to enjoy working out in this shirt quite a bit. Subscribers could have received one of four styles: Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop; No, Nope, Not Ever; Often Imitated, Never Duplicated; or Don’t Sweat the Technique. I received, ‘Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop.’
IZZY AND LIV Fly and Fierce Ankle Socks, 3-pack - $25
I love a good set of ankle socks. The designs are very cute, and the socks themselves feel like a good quality with thick material. I like that it has elastic around the ankles so they don’t slide around. You really can’t go wrong with a nice sock, especially with designs as vibrant as these. This is where I tend to utilize bold, bright colors… I’ve always liked wearing interesting socks even though I tend to use darker tones for the clothes above my ankle, so these are perfect. I especially enjoy the yellow pair because of the brightness but the design of the orange pair is my favorite. Subscribers could have received one of three styles: Afro Queen Trio, Black Girl Illustrated, or Brown Sugar Affirmations. I received, ‘Afro Queen Trio.’
Verdict
I thought this was a great month for Brown Sugar Box! The highlight for me was the duffle bag. I love that it includes the pocket for sneakers, and the color combo is super fun. I can always use some new ankle socks, and these are lovely. The designs are very cool, and I love the pop of the yellow pair. Another great inclusion to this box is the t-shirt. I love that it has a bit of a workout material to it rather than the usual cotton blend. The water bottle with the lemon squeezer at the bottom is certainly a unique take that I’ve never seen before, and it’ll come in handy for sure. Lastly, the cell phone pocket is convenient and useful for sticking onto your phone case. A great way to ensure you always have your essentials with you. Overall, I thought this was an awesome box. The product variation was on target for the ‘fitness’ theme, and the value is definitely there.
