First Impressions

Everything comes neatly packaged and wrapped with tissue paper, sealed with a sticker. Prior to purchasing a subscription, PinkSeoul will ask you several customization questions. Some products are more appropriate/recommended for a particular skin type, so be sure to figure out your skin type (I can't believe how long I thought I had oily skin!). Also, PinkSeoul has now switched to electronic info sheets, sent to your email when your box ships. I always get a little excited when I rip the tissue paper/sticker to see what comes in my box - the extra step with the packaging really adds to the overall experience.

Each box usually comes with a bonus of some kind- this month we got these hair ties!

The Breakdown – What’s Inside The Box

Pyunkang Yul Low pH Cleansing Water, 290 mL – Retail Value $16

I love cleansing waters and use them on an almost daily basis. I also love the Pyunkang Yul brand, and get excited every time I see them appear in a subscription box (especially when the product is full-size). This month’s PinkSeoul box is off to a great start! This cleansing water has pursland, mung bean, and tea tree extract along with hyaluronic acid, licorice root, green tea, and Centella Asiatica to gently cleanse and refresh your skin without being stripping. It’s perfect for my mornings when I don’t shower and just want to start my morning skincare routine with a clean slate without fussing with a full face wash, or making sure that I actually removed every trace of my stubborn waterproof mascara.

Pyunkang Yul Moisture Ampoule, 100 mL – Retail Value $25

I think this is the first Pyunkang Yul product I have tried that I didn’t love- I was shocked. This doesn’t have a texture like any ampoule I have ever used; ampoules are typically very water-y where this was so thick it almost reminded me of glue. This is definitely more of a thick serum that would be better suited for a pump than the dropper; I had to be very methodical with trying to get the product out when usually I can just haphazardly slap the dropper in and pull it out and have the dropper be full of product. The viscosity of this ampoule just doesn’t work for that. This definitely still hydrated my skin, but it left a sticky residue behind on my face as well. Since I always follow my ampoules and serums up with moisturizers that solved the issue, but overall this was not my typical Pyunkang Yul product experience.

Frudia Ulta UV Shield Sun Essence SPF 50+, 50 g – Retail Value $10.80

I used to love this sunscreen before I realized I was allergic to chemical sunscreen filters- it has a really lovely formula. When a sunscreen is labeled as an essence, I’m expecting something lightweight, thin, and easy to apply, and all of those things were true for this. It was really hydrating to my skin and left no white cast.

Aronyx Triple Effect Real Collagen Wrinkle Eye Cream, 40 mL – Retail Value $15

This eye cream was quite nice- I definitely thought it would have a higher price point than the $15 I found it retailing for. It’s a very lightweight cream that just melts into the skin as soon as you start gently applying it, and it spreads out with the ease of room temperature butter on hot toast. It didn’t cause any burning or irritation of my eyes, and the delicate skin felt nicely hydrated after I was done applying. This is formulated with lotus stem extract, three different peptides, shea butter, and the extract of six different blue flowers, which honestly just sounds fun and fancy.

Scinic Snail Matrix Essence Mask – Retail Value $3.40

I love a snail sheet mask and this one did not disappoint. The ultrathin hypoallergenic mask material was soaked in snail filtrate, hydrolyzed collagen, ginseng root water, and royal jelly extract, and my skin absolutely soaked this up. This mask is also made with four different peptides, and my skin definitely had a hydrated glow to it when I was done masking.

Scinic Dual Active Ampoule Firming Mask – Retail Value $6.12

I love masks like these that come in two pieces because they allow me to get a better fit on my face. This firming mask contains an entire bottle of ampoule with ingredients like collagen, peptides, and snail mucin, so it’s going to bring the hydration and skin-nourishing goodness while you wear this (and drip down your neck… be warned if you hate masks that do that). I can’t really say my face was “firmer” after I was done wearing this for twenty minutes, but I did really enjoy it and would happily use this mask again.

Key Takeaways

This month's box from PinkSeoul was really solid! The stars for me were the Pyunkang Yul cleansing water and the Aronyx eye cream, and I truly enjoyed both sheet masks. I'll end up passing the sunscreen along to a friend due to my allergies, but I know from previous use that I enjoyed it quite a bit. Really, it was only that Pyunkang Yul moisture ampoule that left me a little perplexed, but realistically I can't love every single product from a brand. If you like receiving full-size products and discovering K-Beauty products, then this is a subscription box you should seriously consider checking out - I always have fun every two months when this arrives at my door.
