First Impressions

Heads up! Big Boxycharm+Ipsy changes are coming in April. This is likely the last time we see this subscription delivered in this way. For more details on what to expect, keep an eye on our Boxycharm+Ipsy merger news

Here is our info card with all the info on everything inside.

Now, on to the items!

Artist Couture Club Daddyy Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $38

This palette has a lot of personalities. I had to do a little digging to figure out exactly who this Daddyy is but apparently he is Angel Merino, the CEO of Artist Couture. And, while this is absolutely not my usual sort of color palette, there is something super fun here. The color story is a mix of bold teals, pinks, and purples with a couple of less bright shades mixed in. There are 6 mattes and 3 very pearly shimmers to choose from. Bottle service is my favorite because it is exactly the sort of color I like to wear on the daily, though my more adventurous side is very drawn to Static.

The Nue Co SUPA_THICK Scalp Supplement, 100 mL - Retail Value $45

I don't suffer from thinning hair, but I do have a rather sensitive scalp. A healthy scalp means healthy hair, so I do try to pamper mine semi-regularly. This formula was designed to increase new hair growth and reduce shedding, all while soothing the scalp and helping with dandruff. I have only used it once but I did feel like my scalp was less inflamed, especially along the edges of my hairline.

MALIN+GOETZ Resurfacing Face Serum, 30 mL - Retail Value $70

I truly believe that exfoliation is key to smoother and dewier skin. Especially if you are dry and dull like I am. The trick is to not overdo it or else you risk inflamed and sensitive skin. This little concoction is pretty powerful. It features an 8% AHA complex (glycolic + lactic acids), brightening vitamin C, niacinamide, and more. Over time, formulas like this can improve your skin's texture, fade hyperpigmentation, and give you a natural glow. If you have sensitive skin, start by tying this every other night before bed and see if you experience any irritation. You can eventually buildup to nightly use. Be sure to wear sun protection every day. Exfoliants can make you more sensitive to the sun.

Ciaté London Dewy Blush in 'Coconut', 10 mL – Retail Value $22

I have tried this product before and I truly don't get it at all. I LOVE cream and liquid blush. It is basically all I use. But this formula? Ugh. I find it to be so sticky and so insanely shiny. It is like applying lip gloss to my cheeks. If you love this, forgive my negativity. I just don't get it.

Luna Magic Lip Balm Duo - Retail Value $16

This due of lip balms comes from a brand I haven't heard of before, but I generally like and enjoy basic fruity balms. I also found out that they were on Shark Tank, which I always find incredibly interesting. These aren't the most thoughtful formulations (I spy petrolatum and lanolin which are worthy call-outs for some consumers) but they do feel great on the lips and the sheer wash of color and fun scents are very enjoyable.

Lapalette Beauty Vita Yellow Fresh Cleanser, 100 mL - Retail Value $32

This same cleanser arrived on my door last December and I loved it. Happy to receive a refill! It is such a sunny and cheerful cleanser that smells like fresh citrus. With ceramides, vitamin C, and antioxidants, it is a cleanser that I find refreshing and not at all drying.

Verdict

This month's BoxyCharm Premium suffers from the same downfall that the majority of my recent deliveries have: it lacks the premium factor. The overall value here is $223, and, sure, some of the stuff inside was great. But did it feel premium? No. When this tier changes to "BoxyCharm + Beauty Boost" next month, I am hoping this means products that feel more exciting. At least there won't be a misleading "premium" in the title anymore.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I thought I got a really good box this month. I also got the lemon cleanser and like it a lot. 🙂 The rest of my products are different, and a few seem to be from upper tier brands.
I got and like:
-Lapalette Beauty/ Vita Yellow Fresh Cleanser
-Mally Beauty / Best Dressed Lids Neutrals and Bolds
-Murad/ Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum
Laruce Beauty/ Christine Set ( a large brush set in a round plastic case
Glow Recipe/ Watermelon Glow Lip Pop

I truly like all but the brush set, and that’s simply because I don’t like to receive them, having enough brushes forever. IMO, for my box, traditional Boxycharm’s black box went out with jubilant fireworks, though!!

Did the scalp serum leave your hair/scalp feeling oily, greasy or leave any kind of residue behind? My hair is starting to thin pretty bad and I have tried so many serums but I never get to use them long enough to see if they work because they all leave my hair feeling dirty. If I have to wash my hair everyday because of the scalp treatment then its defeating the purpose because I lose the most hair on wash days. So im on what seems like a never ending search to find an effective scalp treatment that absolutely does not make me need to wash my hair daily because it makes my hair/scalp oily/greasy/just plain icky feeling. Thank you in advance for reading this long comment and hopefully answering my question

I canceled BoxyCharm 2 years ago…they were difficult to work with and the products were just soso.
I kept the Allure Beauty Box and Ipsy…I hope this won’t be the end of Ipsy…
