Opening The Box
Friends, I don't know what's happening where you live, but here in my neck of the woods, this Margot Elena Subscription Box is the first sign of spring. When it arrived I think my nervous system had the same reaction to seeing crocuses pop up. Just such a happy, warm, reassuring arrival. The other bit of good news is that, as you'll soon see, I really feel like Margot Elena's team has given us exactly what we've been asking for. Happy dance!
Here's our Spring info card, all warm tones and blossoms and happiness. It gives a little intro to Spring with Margot Elena and then lists out the items you'll find wrapped inside the box. This quarter we've got a spread from the Library of Flowers, Lollia, Cottage Greenhouse, and TokyoMilk lines, as well as 2 box-exclusive Margot Elena household items. Let's take a closer look.
Here's What's Inside
Library of Flowers Willow & Water Handcreme, 2.65 oz — Retail Value $23
I'm in handcreme heaven! Other than my ongoing beef with how Margot Elena cream lids don't have the pointy thing that help you puncture the seal, this cream is checking all the boxes for me. The cream itself is thick and nourishing, the scent is bright and perfumey, but also has richer tones to it, and the tube itself is my ideal size. Thinking back on previous handcremes I've received in this box, I can recall large tubes and teeny-tiny mini tubes, but this is my debut experience with a toss-it-in-your-bag size that'll last awhile without taking up too much space. The absorption is off the charts, leaving my hands feeling noticeably smooth but almost in a powdery way—not greasy at all. And then just on a personal level, the yellow-touched mushroom design on this tube reminds me of a favorite baby onesie I dressed both my girls in, and that just amplifies the serotonin boost I get from using this cream.
Lollia Breathe Perfumed Shower Gel, 8 fl oz — Retail Value $22
As springy as can be, this Peony & White Lily scent delivers layers of florals that are a pleasure to bathe in. Per usual with Margot Elena products, the tube is just as glorious to behold on my shower shelf as the cleansing gel is to use. Also something I've come to expect from Margot Elena is how the scent lingers on my skin even after leaving the shower, but not so strongly that any lotions or perfumes you'd apply after would interfere. They've really keyed into something special with that!
Lollia Relax Body Butter, 5.5 0z — Listed Value $42
I was due for another big jar of body butter, as I regretfully gave one away last fall thinking there'd likely be one on the way come winter, but the winter box didn't end up going that route. This springy edition comes bearing the lightest scent I've maybe ever encountered in a Margot Elena product, but even in its faintness it strikes me as just right. The touch of Lavender & Honey aroma, paired with cocoa butter's natural scent, is simultaneously warm and fresh; delicate but nourishing.
Library of Flowers Honeycomb Eau de Parfum, 1.69 fl oz — Listed Value $42
Continuing on the theme of bee's wing lightness is this Honeycomb-scented perfume. It doesn't have the explosion of aroma nor the staying power of most other Margot Elena perfumes, but it's actually a nice change of pace. The scent is mellow and honeyed with a wisp of muskiness to it. I've been wearing it in every day in the few days since it came, even on days when I don't change out of my sweatpants, and it works across the board.
But, honestly, I feel like I buried the lede: the bottle! Its domed shape, faintly blue-tinted glass, heavy copper lid with intricate embossing, and touch of florals are all perfection. I love the way it feels in my hand. I love the way it looks on my bathroom counter. I'm obviously very amped on this perfume!
The Cottage Greenhouse Carrot & Neroli Salt Scrub, 284g — Retail Value $28
Here's a salt scrub in a familiar scent that I've always found agreeable. It's a touch more earthy than many Margot Elena fragrances, but not without a gardeny floral feel. As is true of many of the Cottage Greenhouse scents, it's a more simple and straightforward scent. The consistency of the scrub is loose, with large exfoliation granules. It also contains oils and cocoa butter to nourish your skin at the same time. It's not a particularly standout product to me, but it's a solid one that I'll enjoy every drop of.
Note that this is listed as "assorted salt scrub" on the info card, so other subscribers might receive a different scent!
TokyoMilk Signature Stationery Set: Raccoons Your Day and Let's Get Drinks — Retail Value $5.50 each
I'm a greeting card collector and a stationery fanatic—I truly can never have too many, and I use them at every opportunity—so I'll never say no to some blank cards to add to my selection. I think we've established that these TokyoMilk greeting cards are, eh, cute enough. I actually find myself reaching for them for my parents and in-laws; they've got some personality without being too overwhelming. I wouldn't miss the cards if a box were to arrive without them, but they do round things out nicely.
Exclusive! Margot Elena Happy Home Calico Spatula — Listed Value $20
Here's where things really get exciting. After a fantastic spread of creams and scrubs and perfumes and such, we're ushered back to the place we've all been wanting to return to: the world of Margot Elena home items! This spatula is bright, patterned, and anchored to a weighty metal handle. It's sturdy and fun and I love it. It has a BPA-free silicone head and is heat resistant up to 450 degrees F—I assume that's reference to the silicone itself and you're not meant to put the whole thing in the oven. It also has to be hand washed, which I usually do with spatulas anyway because I feel like sometimes silicone things come out of my dishwasher smelling and tasting like soap. Such a nice surprise.
Exclusive! Happy Home Floral Tea Towel — Listed Value $18
To match it, we're sent a cotton tea towel with bright florals, a smaller border pattern to match the spatula, and contrasting light blue embroidery. Just the pop of color my kitchen needed. The towel arrives pretty crisp but softened a bit when I washed it.
These two home items are exclusive to the discovery box—such a treat. I am realizing that however interesting it can be to receive box-exclusive body and care products, it can be frustrating not to be able to buy that same item on the site later when it runs out. I personally don't require box-exclusive items as a subscriber—for me, the curation is the good part—so as far as box-exclusive items go, these home items feel like a perk of subscribing.

Value Breakdown: For the Spring 2023 Margot Elena Box we were sent a total of 8 products (counting the 2 cards as 1 item), which add up to a value of $206. The box costs $66.94 including shipping, so this breaks down to $8.37 per item. This is generally what you can expect from this subscription. So often the retail prices in beauty subscriptions seem really unnecessarily high to me, and the breakdown value feels more appropriate, but in the case of Margot Elena, these products are such quality and so unique & complex that I truly feel like the subscription is a wonderful value.
Key Takeaways
The Spring Margot Elena Box was all my wishes realized, who's with me? As for the fragranced products, we were sent a glorious spread of handcreme, body butter, body wash, a scrub, and a perfume that came in a mix of familiar and fresh scents. They all have a distinct springy air to them, both in scent and bottle design. Of note, though, is that the good ol' days of Discovery Box are back with some beautiful home items that are exclusive to the box!
