Welcome to another round of Add to Cart! This month's product wasn't initially on my radar last month, but then, in typical fashion, it started bombarding me on Instagram. Literally, I saw it 5+ times in a single day! And the reviews were glowing. I finally tracked it down at my local Ulta and discovered this formula, promising to even out my overall skin tone, was $15. This was an easy add to cart based on price alone. But does it work?
The Product I Chose:
Good Molecules Discoloration Correcting Body Treatment, 4 fl oz - $15
My Subscription Addiction paid for this product. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Ingredients
Ok, so this product is designed to be used on your body from the neck down (not your face!) and is formulated to even out your overall skin tone by fading hyperpigmentation and promoting cell turnover. Over time, this should lead to skin that looks smoother and more even in terms of color.
Here is a peek at the ingredients:
Water, Glycerin, Aspergillus Ferment, Propanediol, Cetearyl Alcohol, Saccharomyces Ferment, Cetyl Tranexamate Mesylate, Glyceryl Stearate, Niacinamide, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Panthenol, Palmitic Acid, Caprylyl Glyceryl Ether, Capryloyl Salicylic Acid, Stearic Acid, Arginine, Caprylhydroxamic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide.
Honestly, that is a pretty short ingredient list, but what it lacks in length, it makes up for in quality. Here are the callouts:
- Cetyl Tranexamate Mesylate: This ingredient serves as an exfoliant, helping to fade hyperpigmentation and other discolorations. Also beneficial for acne.
- Niacinamide: An all-around skin superstar that kind of does it all. Fades spots, softens wrinkles, and improves skin barrier.
- Panthenol: Moisturizes and boosts lipids.
The Formula
I expected this stuff to be more of a serum, but it is actually a dense cream bordering on a balm texture. It doesn't have much of a scent (and no added fragrance) and it applied much like a body cream. I tend to see some uneven color on my chest and shoulders, mostly from some sun damage and old acne scarring. This is a pretty nice-sized tube for only $15 bucks so I plan on trying it all over liberally, but for now, I just focused on my chest and upper arms/shoulders. While I haven't noticed a huge difference in skin tone (I imagine that is going to take a bit of time) I did notice within 2 days that my shoulders were basically acne-free, something I haven't been able to say in recent memory. So for $15 bucks, I am already thrilled. Hopefully, by the end of the tube, I am seeing other benefits too.
My Takeaway
At this price point, I feel like anyone could safely bet on this formula and at least see some benefits. At the very least, you will see less body acne and probably enjoy the added moisture. I do have faith in this ingredient list, I simply can't fast-forward through time to see more dramatic results. But I am hopeful!
