IPSY is a monthly beauty and makeup subscription box. For $13 per month, you get five full-size or deluxe-sized products, plus a cute makeup bag.

This is one of our top recommendations if you are looking for a subscription box - the value and sample sizes are amazing. (FYI – Ipsy sends out many different variations of their bag each month – so my review is just one of the bag variations you might receive!)

My Subscription Addiction pays for this subscription. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).

First Impressions

Your IPSY Glam bag will come in their standard pale pink bubble wrap mailer. When you open it up, you can always expect to find a makeup bag storing your new beauty products and an info sheet with additional details.

This month's bag was a fun one that featured a white and navy blue floral pattern on one side and the phrase "look good do good" on the other.

The Breakdown – What’s Inside My March 2023 Ipsy Glam Bag

Briogeo Superfoods™ Avocado + Kiwi Mega Moisture Hair Mask, 30 mL – Estimated Value $7.50 (buy the 60 mL version for $15)

This hair mask from Briogeo is pretty solid. It’s formulated with ingredients inspired by your favorite green smoothies like avocado, kiwi, spinach, and chia seeds, and it also has cocoa seed butter to help your hair get moisturized and stay moisturized. It’s free of sulfates, silicones, and proteins, and it doesn’t weigh your hair down when you use it like some heavier moisturizing hair masks can.

Grown Alchemist Hand Cream in Vanilla + Orange Peel, 20 mL – Estimated Value $8 (buy the 65 mL version for $26)

I enjoy trying Grown Alchemist products- how chic does this sample of hand cream look? I found the formula to be very moisturizing while still being lightweight and non-greasy, and the vanilla and orange peel oil scent to be pleasant. It’s made with rosehip, sea buckthorn, and Vitamin E oils, and my hands definitely felt softer after using this.

Hey Honey Come Clean Propolis & Dead Sea Minerals Facial Scrub, 15 mL – Estimated Value $6.21 (buy the 70 mL version for $29)

I am not a huge fan of facial scrubs, but I love propolis. This scrub is neat because the scrubby bits actually dissolve and then this turns into a milky, foamy texture. I found this to be gentle on my skin and thought my skin felt smoother after using, and it wasn’t red or irritated, either.

Oryza Glow-Up Lip Balm in Watermelon Waves, 12 mL – Retail Value $17.55

When this vegan lip balm says watermelon, they mean it- I could smell the watermelon scent as soon as I opened up the tube when I wasn’t even holding it close to my face. The scent does fade, and the lip balm leaves a subtle rosy-pink color. It’s made with watermelon fruit extract, sweet almond oil, and shea butter, and I found it to be a lot more nourishing than I was originally expecting.

Shades by Shan The Gel Eyeliner in Taro, 0.28 g – Retail Value $18

While I prefer liquid eyeliner over pencil, I was very pleased to see that this eyeliner was in a very pretty eggplant purple shade rather than the traditional black. The gel formula was creamy and applied smoothly without any tugging, and once it was set in place I didn’t have issues with it smudging.

Here is the eyeliner swatched above the lip gloss.

Value – Was This Box Worth It?

The Cost: $13

Value Breakdown:

  • Briogeo: $7.50 → $1.70
  • Grown Alchemist: $8 → $1.81
  • Hey Honey: $6.21 → $1.41
  • Oryza: $17.55 → $3.98
  • Shades by Shan: $18 → $4.08

Value Breakdown: This month everything in my Glam Bag added up to $57.26. Alternatively, it breaks down to paying $2.60 per item, not including the actual bag.

Key Takeaways

I thought this was another really solid glam bag from Ipsy this month! My favorites in particular were the Grown Alchemist hand cream and the Oryza lip balm. The lip balm was very watermelon forward, but it actually gave some moisture and a hint of color to my lips so I found the overall effect to be fun for spring and summer. Ipsy also exceeded the promised $50 value, which is always going to be nice. At $13, this is a tough subscription to beat- especially when every month you get to choose one of the items they send.

I no longer subscribe to ipsy, but I’m pretty sure that blue and white floral bag is for April. The March bag was textured white.
