First Impressions

Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other. This month I did not receive a card.

The first thing I noticed about this month’s box is that subscribers were graced with a true OG Nourish Naturals liquid balm. I was pleased to see this inclusion, and I’m interested to see what other products this month’s curation holds. Let’s get to it.

Now, on to the items!

NOURISH NATURALS Butter Pop Tinted Liquid Balm in Crimson, 2.2 ml - Retail Value $16

Well, well, well… It looks like the tried-and-true OG Nourish Naturals liquid balm is officially back in action. How exciting! I have always been a fan of the Butter Pop Tinted Liquid Balm. The shade ‘Crimson’ is a stunning pink-red that provides a bold look; perfect for a night out with the girls or date night. With the inclusion of shea and cocoa butters and biomimetic jojoba and castor seed oils, this liquid balm delivers wonderfully on hydration without that sticky or greasy feeling. I am a huge fan of the doe foot applicator, and bonus points for the delicious scent, which reminds me of an orange creamsicle. Now, this isn’t a lip stain; it’s a liquid balm, which means it’s meant to be reapplied throughout the night, so don’t judge it based on its staying power. I enjoy how it gives my lips an extra little pop of color while also enhancing their hydration and protecting them against the brisker weather.

SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Butterfly and Beet Silicone-Free Healthy Hair Serum, 30 ml - Retail Value $38

I love a good hair serum. To me, a hair serum is essentially the same as a hair oil, which my hair welcomes in abundance. This Butterfly and Beet Silicone-Free Healthy Hair Serum from Seraphine Botanicals is incredibly moisturizing, and the texture is slightly thicker than I expected, which I appreciate. When I first applied this serum to my hair, it was sucked up instantly. Thanks to the consistency of the product, it’s excellent for handling flyaways. My absolute favorite thing about this serum, though, is the delicious scent. Even though I’m a bit sensitive to scents, this serum legit smells like melted Jolly Ranchers / a fruity candy of some form, and I think it’s divine. I’m thrilled with this product and how well it works for my hair. I’ll be using this down to the very last drop.

LOVESONG Weightless Leave-In Conditioner, 50 ml - Retail Value $30

My hair is incredibly thick and curly. Those with my type of hair will understand, but for those who aren’t familiar, my type of hair craves moisture. For me, a leave-in conditioner is essential, but of course, one size does not fit all when it comes to hair care. This leave-in conditioner has a thick texture to it, and it has a floral scent, which I didn’t find too unpleasant or long-lasting. I love that it’s packed with clean ingredients, and it does a solid job of protecting hair from heat damage. Unfortunately, though, this leave-in conditioner is a bit too weak for me. I had to use way more than a finer-haired friend of mine would require, so when they say, ‘lightweight,’ they mean it. I’ll be passing this along to a friend of mine whose hair is more suited to such a lightweight formula.

RAIN ORGANICA Meadowfoam and Fog Rollerball, 10 ml - Retail Value $14

I’ve received this Meadowfoam and Fog Rollerball from Rain Organica in the past. It’s a unique product in the sense that it allows you to apply a literal drop of hydration directly to your skin. As a spot treatment, this rollerball works nicely, and I didn’t find the scent to be overpowering to my sensitive nose, featuring a mild blend of cardamom, chamomile, and lavender. When I first applied this product, I was surprised at how quickly it absorbed, and it lacks that overly greasy / oily feeling that I’ve come to expect from an oil-based product. I have a recurring eczema patch on my shoulder that flares up every time I venture out into the frigid New York weather, but this handy rollerball works great for treating any irritation. What I really enjoy about the roll-on applicator is that it allows for much less product waste than usual, especially when I’m blindly trying to deliver a boost of hydration to my eczema patch. This little guy now comes with me everywhere I go, and it’s been doing a great job of squashing any eczema resurgence.

Verdict

I thought this was a solid month for Nourish Beauty Box! The highlight for me was definitely the OG Nourish Naturals liquid balm. Although the ‘Crimson’ shade is a bit darker for me than one I would use on an everyday basis, I was thrilled to see it in this month’s box. Seraphine Botanicals’ hair serum is another great product and one that works very well with my hair, which I appreciate. Plus, it smells absolutely divine. The hydrating rollerball from Rain Organica is a lifesaver for the recurring eczema patch on my elbow. Lastly, the Lovesong leave-in conditioner… As much as I wish this worked for my type of hair, unfortunately hair care products are not one size fits all. I will be passing along this product to a finer-haired friend of mine, and they are sure to enjoy it. Overall, this was a good box. The variation of products was solid (I appreciate the inclusion of hair care), and the value is definitely there.
