First Impressions
Each month, Nourish Beauty Box usually arrives with an info card that has a quick overview of the box on one side and more detailed information about the products included on the other. This month I did not receive a card.
I’m interested to see what variation of products has been curated for us this month. Let’s check it out!
Now, on to the items!
CHARLOTTE COOK COSMETICS Lip Gloss in Brooklyn, 4.5 ml - Retail Value $19.99
First up is the box’s signature product: a lip gloss. Instead of the Nourish Naturals brand, this month we have a Charlotte Cook Cosmetics Lip Gloss. I am pleasantly surprised with the shade, ‘Brooklyn.’ When I first applied this, I was expecting to see more pigment left behind on my lips, but instead, it blends in with my natural lip color and leaves more of a light sheen, which is nice (and actually my preference). I’m happy to have this on hand for my everyday natural look. The formula feels hydrating to my lips rather than leaving a stiff matte finish, and I hugely appreciate that. If you’re looking for more of a ‘glam’ look, this lip gloss is perfect to apply over top of a lip color, immediately giving that extra bit of shine. I also really like the precision of a good doe foot applicator like this gloss has.

SERAPHINE BOTANICALS Perilla and Avocado Brightening and Decongesting Concentrate, 30 ml - Retail Value $115.00
As much as I love a good serum, I tend to avoid using oil-based products on my face. I have sensitive skin, and applying heavier forms of skincare often results in breakouts for me personally. For that reason, I was a bit wary about applying this Seraphine Botanicals Perilla and Avocado Brightening and Decongesting Concentrate directly to my face, but for my body… Now, that’s a different story. I’ve been struggling with a case of extra-dry elbows and knees lately despite consistent use of all my usual body oils. I decided to try this serum on my dry patches, and I have to say, it did an excellent job of targeting the dryness, hydrating without any irritation whatsoever. The texture is super smooth, but since it’s a thicker serum, it does take a bit of time to fully absorb. There’s a bit of a natural mint-like scent to this serum, and it’s not at all overpowering, which I appreciate.
PRECIME Perfect Radiant Fit CICA Cushion Foundation, 13 g - Estimated Value $30.00
This is one of the more interesting products I’ve seen included in a subscription box lately. I love K-Beauty, and I’m always happy to discover a brand that’s new to me. At first glance, I didn’t realize this was a full-on foundation; I thought it was sunscreen, but it’s so much more than that. This Perfect Radiant Fit CICA Cushion Foundation from Precime is an innovative product in the sense that it’s essentially a liquid-based foundation in the form of a compact. Bonus points for the inclusion of SPF 50+ within the formula. I’m actually thrilled about it. Many sunscreens out there don’t always work for people of color because they tend to leave behind a white cast on the skin. This foundation, however, applies smoothly and leaves behind a dewy-looking glow, along with the simultaneous benefit of SPF. I like how nicely the product blends with my skin tone, and for the purpose of cleanliness, I especially appreciate not having to stick my fingers directly into the product, thanks to the included powder puff.

CLEURE Sensitive Skin Toner, 30 ml - Estimated Value $2.28
I’ve had the opportunity to try out this Sensitive Skin Toner from Cleure in the past, and I couldn’t be happier. I liked it then, and I like it now. What I love about this cleanser is how gentle it feels on my skin. As someone with sensitive skin, toners with alcohol, witch hazel, or other harsh ingredients often cause me irritation, so this gentle formula is appreciated. When I apply this toner right after cleansing my face, it does leave my skin feeling hydrated and not at all stripped or dry. The formula also works to shrink pores, fight aging, and balance the skin’s pH. Plus, it’s virtually scentless, which is another huge bonus for me, and it absorbs quickly. Despite the small sample, a little goes a long way, so it seems to last longer than you’d expect, which is nice.
Verdict
This was a great month for Nourish Beauty Box! The major highlight for me was Precime’s foundation, which includes SPF 50+. I absolutely love how nicely this foundation works with my skin; the added benefit of SPF is convenient, and I’m thrilled that it doesn’t leave behind any white cast on my skin. I can always use another lip gloss, especially one with a neutral tone, so the gloss from Charlotte Cook Cosmetics was a welcome addition to this box. Cleure’s toner has a wonderful formula that’s perfect for sensitive skin, and it does a nice job of leaving the skin hydrated rather than stripped. Lastly, the Seraphine Botanicals’ concentrate… Although meant for the face, as someone sensitive to oil-heavy formulas, I chose to use this on my dry elbows and knees, and it has been working wonders. Overall, I truly thought this was an excellent box. The product variation between skincare and makeup was evenly balanced, and the value is certainly there.
