Star Wars Galaxy Box: Return of the Jedi
On May 25th, 1983 George Lucas released his 3rd Star Wars Episode: Return of the Jedi. With this release, we meet the adorable, furry, and forest-dwelling Ewoks who became a favorite among fans and Admiral Ackbar whose famous line, "It's a Trap" is still used today. We also watch as Luke Skywalker fights a mental battle as Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine try and convince Luke to give in to the dark side. This spring Star Wars Galaxy Box subscription is a tribute to that movie that was released 40 years ago later this month. Return of the Jedi has stood the test of time and is a classic that is still popular today. Its characters can be seen across the world and die-hard Star Wars fans still discuss the scenes and secrets of the movie.
Needless to say, I was pretty excited to get this box and see which products CultureFly had chosen as a tribute to Return of the Jedi. The box came with eight anniversary products and immediately my kids were fighting over who got what.
Before I get to the products, I just want to mention the boxes. Everything is about the theme with these, including how they come packaged! This particular one stuck with the 40th-anniversary theme and is just a little extra eye candy for the true fan.
Now, let's dive into the Star Wars Galaxy Box and check out these awesome anniversary products!
Ewok Village Planter
Ok, this might just be the cutest little planter ever! It's not big, so don't think it's going to hold a bunch of flowers or one of your larger potted plants. But it does hold one succulent-sized plant very nicely and makes for an adorable piece on your windowsill. On either side of the planter is an Ewok standing guard over their plant home (and being very cute in the process I might add!). I love anything that adds a little bit of fun in the house while also being useful, so this Ewok planter might just be one of my favorite subscription box items!
The planter itself is made from a hard plastic and seems pretty durable. There is also a hole in the bottom to let excess water drip through, which is always a big gripe of mine when there is not one added. Just be sure to let it drain before putting it on anything important!
Vintage Pattern Shirt
Did you know that Return of the Jedi is being re-released in theaters for its 40th anniversary? What better thing to wear to it, than this vintage patterned Star Wars shirt!? Throughout the shirt, you can see snapshots of scenes from Return of the Jedi such as Jaba the Hutt in his palace, the Ewoks fighting, and C3PO and R2D2 on Tatooine.
The size they sent me was a small and was still a little big on me, but I am assuming it was a men's size small due to the cut of the shirt. It's still really cute and I intend on wearing it when watching the movie! The shirt is made from 93% polyester and 7% elastic. Honestly, it was a lot softer than I expected and I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable it was. Is this a shirt someone will wear all the time? Well, for me, probably not, but honestly that depends on how big of a Star Wars fan you are!
Tapestry
This is a fun decoration to hang in an entertainment room for the big Star Wars fans out there. It measures 20" in height by 14" in width. So, it's not the biggest "tapestry" out there, but it would be a nice touch for a spot that you needed something additional. It has two small holes at the top to make it easy to hang and is made from 100% polyester.
On the picture is Sheev Palpatine, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, the Imperial Shuttle, a Tie fighter, a Tie Interceptor, an X-wing, the Death Star 2, and a background image of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader fighting with light sabers. It's very reminiscent of some of the movie posters they used to advertise the movie when it first came out and I think it's a great addition to this Star Wars box.
Rebel Squadron 5-Panel Cap
A fun hat for a fun box! I think this hat might be a little small for the average head size as it actually fit me pretty well. I usually have a hard time with hats because they never seem to fit properly on my head and are always a little too big. This one was decent in sizing for me so most likely wouldn't fit on a larger man's head. It also fit my 10-year-old son's head really well...just as a good sizing guide.
I love the look of the 5 panels as it gives it that extra "military-style" feel. Plus the rebel squadron patch is just perfect and a great way to show your support for the good guys!
40th Anniversary Iron-On Patch
I don't think this item needs much explanation! The Return of the Jedi patch is a perfect 40th anniversary for any major Star Wars fan. This iron-on patch would be a great addition to a jacket or backpack!
Poster Notebook
Ok, this is a pretty fun notebook for any age. It has a colorful lightsaber scene on the front cover and the movie title on the back. Inside is approximately 100 pages for you to write on with a great water stamp image of "Return of the Jedi". The picture I took made the water stamp a little darker than it actually is, but in reality it is quite a bit lighter and easily written over. Honestly, the only thing that would have made this notebook better is if they had added a Star Wars pen to the box!
Epoxy Pin
Admiral Ackbar and his line, "It's a trap" are pretty well-known across the Star Wars fandom! In fact, this pin made me go back and watch the scene where they pulled back from attacking the second Death Star and Ackbar says the famous line. Of course, watching that scene made me go back and watch the entire movie again, but what afternoon isn't a good one when watching Star Wars!?
This pin is actually pretty big for a "pin" and measures 2.5" high. It's probably better suited for something larger rather than on a shirt as it's a bit heavy for a pin as well.
Sticker Sheet
The sticker sheet is a fun add-on to the box that you can use to decorate notebooks and water bottles. A couple have already gone on our garage fridge and my kid's school folders.
Was this box worth it?
If you are a Star Wars fan, then Star Wars Galaxy Box is absolutely worth it!! Many of these products can not be found anywhere else and they are a great way to get some pretty awesome gear added to your collection. Personally, for me, I am obsessed with the Ewok planter and intend on trying to find some fun plants to put in there. Maybe one that makes it looks like they have a grass roof? The shirt is also pretty great and would be a really fun option to wear to work on May 4th (or any day for that matter)! Some of the smaller items I probably won't get a lot of use out of, but they are still pretty cool collectibles and will find a home somewhere in our house for sure! Overall, I'm really pleased with this box and would definitely recommend it...especially if you are excited for the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi.
