Stitch Fix is a personal styling service. When you sign up, you take an in-depth survey of your sizes, your style, and your pricing preferences. After choosing when you’d like to receive your delivery, your stylist handpicks five items based on your preferences. The fee for this service is $20, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)

My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so your Fix may be completely different.

FYI, COVID-19 Updates: To learn more about Stitch Fix’s extended return window, any potential fulfillment delays, and more, read all of their service-related updates here.

First Impressions

Let's take a look at this month's selections, shall we?

What's Inside This Month's Fix

Alison Knit T-Shirt Dress by Market & Spruce, Size 3x — Retail Value $38

I love a good t-shirt dress, so I was eager to try this one my stylist, Jami, sent me. I love pieces like this because they are casual and comfortable, but can easily be dressed up with accessories and shoes. You can also wear these all year if you pair them with tights, booties, and oversized cardigans in cooler weather. This jewel tone makes it great to be worn all year too. Plus, a dress like this in the summer is fantastic to just toss on for errands. The material isn't too light or see through, but isn't too thick either. I did very simple styling by tossing on a pair of my zebra print Crocs that I often wear to drive or run errands. Throw on a pair a of biker shorts underneath to keep the chub rub at bay and you are set!

Anniston Cowl Neck Peplum Blouse by Heatherly, Size 2x-Retail Value $46.00

Wasn't expecting to mark the return of peplum tops from the 2010's on my 2023 BINGO card, but here we are, friends! I have always been kind of EH on peplums. It felt like they were put upon on plus size babes as a way to disguise their bellies. Just never my thing, but to each their own. Unlike the peplums of ten years ago, this material is far less structured like the scuba materials of yore. The lighter fabric certainly make it wearable for spring and early summer, but I wish the material had a slight bit more give. Or possibly that I had been issued a 3x in this style, because the tension on my chest on the fabric might be a bit much. I decided to style it with the slightly off pink skort and all orange accessories. My earrings are from Reb's Rainbow Haus and the shoes are by Melissa brand. Folks match their outfits to their hair, right?

Pull on Skort by Tribal in Fuschia, Size 24, — Listed Value $54

My stylist, Jami, sent me  this skort as well. She gave me a selection of items to choose from, I opted to pick all the pink items thinking they were similar shades. They are not, but I still made them work together. I preferred this pink skort of the bunch and actually kept it. The fact they have the built in shorts made it a must for me. I also think this will look adorable paired with tights in cooler weather. I keep envisioning wearing this with a retro novelty shirt like this one, colored tights, platforms, and an animal print cardigan since our weather is presently between the 50s and 60s right now. This would look great even in the office with a modest polka dot button pussybow blouse, tights, and loafers. This is more versatile than some probably would think.

Crop Hemp Tee Earth Day Cloud Wash by Mohnton Made, Size 2x, — Listed Value $58

I was excited to see an orange and white tie dye t-shirt selected by Jami, but I must say the colors on the Stitch Fix site are incredibly misleading. I was under the impression it would be an incredibly vivid top, but it appeared more muted in color. To me, it looked like a tobacco and dirt stained shirt to me; more on the yellow/brown side. I like the boxy crop fit of the shirt-- it fits great and hits me right at my waist. The fabric is not too thin or thick too with a slight bit of stretch.  I decided to pair the top with the bright pink trousers, retro earrings from Undoubtedly Mad, and some white Mary Jane flats. this would look great worn with jean shorts, Western style booties with fringe, and some turquoise jewelry for a very '70s rocker look this summer!

Straight Leg Trouser Pant by Avec Les filles in Pink, Size 3x  — Retail Value $99

Finally, finally we have these gorgeous hot pink trousers from Avec Les Filles. The fabric almost feels like a ponte fabric, they certainly have a lot of stretch. I do think they are slightly big on me, but my concern would be the size 22 might be a slight bit too tight. These are a bit baggy in the waist, crotch, and thighs. I didn't notice how much till I edited these pics, but I can say they are extremely comfortable. Pair these with a psychedelic print blouse and heels for a retro meets modern ensemble for the office or your favorite vintage shirt, Converse sneakers, and a faux leather biker jacket for an effortlessly cool, easy to wear outfit. I could envision going in an all pink ensemble with this too for a bodacious Barbie look as well!

The Verdict

This month's Stitch Fix had some awesome pieces! Jami sent some very bold, staple items. More solids, not many prints, but these make them very versatile pieces in one's closet. I am still trying to be a bit more financially responsible, but I did end up keeping the skort for myself. TREAT YO SELF! Upon sending the rest of the items back, I made sure to provide ample feedback on my opinions on the style and fit of each item to my stylist. I truly can't emphasize how crucial it is to provide that information on subscription sites. Always provide feedback! Not only do I provide direct feedback, but I also "bookmark" or list pieces as favorites on the site for further direction. My stylists have sent bookmarked items to me in the past, so I always take the time to explore the site for possible dream pieces!

Not to risk sounding like a broken record, but I also can't encourage enough that you provide your Pinterest and Instagram. These will be great assets to your stylist; you are providing visuals on your style, body shape, and how and what you prefer to decorate yourself. This all makes it a much simpler task for your stylist to compile your dream fix! Another plus is that you have the ability to personally select pieces for your Stitch Fix as well! Each month after providing my feedback and my my next box date is selected, I am given the option to choose five of the pieces from a dozen or so my stylist selects. I love this feature because it allows me to tailor the box myself.

This is a great option if you are a shopping fanatic like myself! Were you also aware that Stitch Fix now allows you to shop on their site for clothing items, accessories, foundation garments, and also shoes without getting a monthly Stitch Fix sent to you? This is ideal if you aren't interested in getting a monthly Fix. You can check out their site and buy their in-house brands outright! With all these ways to enjoy Stitch Fix, you can't lose!

Can you still get these pieces if you sign up today? Stitch Fix curates its Fixes based on each individual’s preferences as well as what’s available. What you get might not be the same as what I got, but you also might get something that fits your style and body even better than the looks above! Sign up and see what they choose for you!

Value Breakdown: This personal styling service has a $20 styling fee with free shipping and returns. The total retail value of the items inside is $295.00. The cost of each item is listed alongside it, above, but if I choose to keep at least 5 items, I get a 25% discount. The $20 cost of the box would also be applied to the purchase, meaning I’d end up spending $221.25 for the whole box. Ultimately, that’s about a 31% discount!
