Allure Beauty Box is a $25 monthly beauty subscription from Allure Magazine. Each month they send out a mix of deluxe and full-size samples from mostly high-end brands. (It was named one of the best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers in the 2023 Subscription Box Awards.)
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
First Impressions
The box arrives beautifully packaged in the classic Allure white and red box. There was also a helpful mini-magazine with more info on the products and a note from Allure's deputy beauty director Elizabeth Siegel.
New subscribers in the month of June received this Tarte Maneater mascara.
What's Inside the June 2023 Allure Beauty Box
Glow Recipe Watermelon Niacinamide Dew Drops, 40 mL - Retail Value $35
Out of all of the products from Glow Recipe, this is the one that most often appears in subscription boxes, and while I am certainly not complaining it would be nice to see a little bit more variety from the brand. That being said, if you’re a fan of the glass skin trend or dewy makeup, this product is going to be up your alley. It’s a skincare product infused with niacinamide, amino acids, lycopene, and vitamins A and C- no mica or pearls to be found here. You can use it as a brightening serum under your moisturizer, as a primer underneath your makeup, or on the high points of your face at the end of your entire routine. I use this product sparingly just due to personal preference, but I have friends who use this on a daily basis.
Paul Mitchell Tea Tree Special Detox Kombucha Rinse, 6.8 oz - Retail Value $28.50
This was the star of the box for me. Not only is the one product full-size and worth more than the cost of the entire box, but it also smells incredible. Paul Mitchell was one of the first salon haircare brands I started using as I moved up from drugstore lines, and I’ve always adored their tea tree scent. This kombucha scalp rinse is refreshingly tingly on my scalp and does a nice job of removing buildup without leaving my hair feeling like I just went swimming in the ocean the way some salt scrubs can. My fiancé enjoys the way this feels on his scalp too, especially when combined with a nice scalp massage from yours truly.
Saturday Skin Pretty Pop Cream, 1.52 mL - Retail Value $45
I went through a full-size jar of this moisturizer back when it was still packaged in a jar (I think the squeeze tube makes so much more sense!), and I am a big fan of it. It has a lovely whipped texture that reminds me of cool whip (just slightly heavier, and it leaves my skin feeling soft and hydrated with no greasy residue. Ingredients-wise this has niacinamide, shea butter, probiotics, peptides, and botanical extracts working in harmony to nourish your skin.
Aveda Nutriplenish™ Leave-In Conditioner, 30 mL - $9.10
I’m an Aveda fan and I’ve tried a few of their Nutriplenish products already. This leave-in conditioner is made with pomegranate seed oil and jojoba esters while being free from silicones, sulfates, and mineral oil. It provides heat protection up to 450 degrees and lightweight moisture. I would classify this as too lightweight for my hair type for daily use, but I really like the smell and did find that it helped with some of the detangling I had to do. I’m going to pass this along to my mom, whose hair type is much more suited for this.
APRILSKIN Carrotene IPMP™ Hydromelt Cleansing Balm, 10 mL - Estimated Value $3.11 (buy the 90 mL version for $28)
I’ve really been enjoying using this cleansing balm. It doesn’t burn or sting my eyes at all and will easily remove mascara, and I appreciate that it has great slip (so I don’t have to forcefully rub). It’s gentle and it really does melt away makeup and sunscreen, and I found the faint scent to be pleasant.
Natura Ekos Tukuma Nourishing Body Lotion, 30 mL - Estimated Value $2.03 (buy the 400 mL version for $27)
This vegan body lotion was very lightweight, and I thought it delivered the perfect amount of moisture to my skin. I really like the way this feels on my skin, but I am not crazy about the fragrance. It’s a light scent that’s not overpowering, and I can’t quite put my finger on what exactly the scent is other than being not my jam- maybe the Tacuma butter?

Key Takeaways
The June Allure Beauty Box was a fabulous box for me. It's going to be hard for a box to not be successful when it includes a full-size product from Glow Recipe, but paired with a full-size tea tree rinse from Paul Mitchell and that Saturday Skin moisturizer? Allure had a winning hand. If you've been thinking about signing up, this may be the month to do it. Value-wise, Allure promises a monthly value of at least $100, and everything in the box added up to $122.74.
