Ipsy Icon Box is a NEW quarterly upgrade for Ipsy members. It replaces your usual monthly bag in February, May, August, and November and costs $58. This delivery "includes 8 full-size products worth up to $350" and allows subscribers to pick three items.
My Subscription Addiction paid for this box. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes).
The Items
PSA: This box arrived SUPER late. In fact, it "shipped" 5/4, sat around in some warehouse for a month, and just arrived this last week. I really hope this was just a fluke since this is a new launch because the wait was actually pretty unacceptable. I was also missing one of my 8 items, but we will get into that later.
My box arrived in a pink Ipsy box that looked like an elephant had sat on it. This delivery was curated by the founder of Anastasia of Beverly Hills and included a newsletter-type info booklet with details on featured items.
Let's see what arrived:
REN Clean Skincare Radiance Vitamin C Glow Serum, 1 fl oz – Retail Value $69
Vitamin C is a staple for any skincare routine because it promotes bright, radiant skin, helps fade hyperpigmentation, and boosts the efficacy of your SPF. Finding the first formula can be tricky though since vitamin C is very unstable and prone to oxidation. This serum is formulated with 3 types of vitamin C for a more stable serum and boosted with antioxidant-rich fruit and plant extracts. It has a sweet citrusy sort of scent and a great texture. It feels more like a thin lotion than a serum to me, but I loved how it absorbed quickly and left my face with a velvet finish.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Ultra-Fine Mist, 75 mL – Retail Value $29
I received this mist a few years ago and I am thrilled to have a new bottle. First, Glow Recipe is just a brand I love. The formulas are always top notch and the packaging makes me want to leave everything out to admire on my vanity. This mist is probably one of the more overlooked formulas from their line, but it is fire. A few quick sprays before your makeup and you have happy, glowy skin that has been fortified with watermelon vitamins and amino acids, hydrated with hyaluronic acid, and gently exfoliated over time with hibiscus AHAs. It also smells amazing, just like all of the watermelon products from Glow Recipe! In the summer, I generally skip most makeup products but this is a great first step even if I just put SPF on top.
Glow Recipe Guava Vitamin C Bright-Eye Gel Cream, 15 mL – Retail Value $38
It's a Glow Recipe twofer! My second item from this Korean skincare line is a newer eye gel cream. The glass bottle is on the smaller side, but I find that is pretty normal for eye products. My one gripe with the packaging is that this stuff is too thick for a pump system and sometimes I have to unscrew it and open it to get anything out. Other times, it dispenses way too much and this becomes more of a face cream. Luckily, I like the formula so if I end up applying it all over, it's no big loss! This little bottle holds a pink cream containing all sorts of goodies: brightening niacinamide, tightening caffeine, dark-circle fighting vitamin C, firming peptides, and more! I like it both in the AM and PM, though I have found myself favoring morning applications.
Commodity Milk Expressive Perfume, 30 mL – Buy 100 mL for $135
Your girl LOVES perfumes, and Commodity is one of my favorite perfumes. I own a few of their scents, but mostly the weirder ones like Book, Orris, and Paper. Milk is a different sort of beast, and is much more sweet and, well, milky. The lactonic notes hit your nose first, but this scent has a creamy sweet marshmallow middle with a lot of vanilla. The scent overall is musky and milky, and also grounded in sweet woods. I really adore it, though it is much more of a cool weather scent, IMO. Commodity relaunched with three different scent intensity levels per scent. This is the middle "expressive" level which I personally appreciate. If you want a little less sillage but love this scent, try their "personal" scent level next time. Want even more? Bold!
Magic Extension Fibre Mascara – Retail Value $26
As someone who doesn't love a ton of volume, I was expecting to dislike this mascara. I tend to buy formulas that are more about length and curl because I like a natural look over the drama of xxl volume. Though this mascara has packaging that brags about "over-the-top, exaggerated volume", on my lashes it was just like an over-the-top length boost with a nice amount of curl. So, while I think some subscribers might be bummed, I was thrilled! I also appreciated that it did not flake or smudge all day.
ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Brow Definer in Taupe - Retail Value $26
While I loved the color of this brow product, I didn't enjoy the wedge shape of the pencil at all. I found it texturally hard and also difficult to use without feeling like that little dog in the meme with the drawn-on eyebrows. I had to press too hard to get a payoff but when I did, there was just too much! I also prefer to draw in little hair strokes while this is designed more for a powder brow sort of look.
Alamar Cosmetics Eye Brush Trio - Retail Value $18
This little brush trio is something I don't need (like, at all!) but who isn't charmed by the fun hot pink? I also have a soft spot for Alamar, so I will be keeping these.

Verdict
My first Ipsy Icon Box curation was really, really good. Even with an item missing! I loved the brands inside, but Glow Recipe and Commodity are two of my absolute faves, which made the whole thing even sweeter. That being said, this roll-out was a hot mess, at least on my end. My box was over a month late, looked like it went through heck and back to get here, and was missing an item. If Ipsy can keep up with this caliber of products, this box will be a big hit. But if they can't get the process down, it dulls the whole experience.
