Can you believe it's almost 4th of July? I feel like ever since 2020, time has flown by so quickly! Well, we're back with June's review, and I actually made a purchase. Yay!
But there's a catch. Alright, let's hop to it.
Rocksbox is a jewelry styling and rental service. Members pay a flat rate every month to get unlimited access to the Rocksbox collection and the option to buy whatever they love at a discounted price. Each month, Rocksbox will curate sets of three pieces to send your way, including at least one piece from your ever-growing wishlist. Members can keep and wear the three pieces they receive for as long as they want, or they can switch out sets whenever they'd like. Rocksbox also offers a monthly credit so you can buy the pieces for less.
Concerned about cleanliness? Each piece is sterilized with alcohol jewelry cleaner using medical grade products and handled with jewelry experts wearing gloves.
This is a review of the monthly plan for $21, which includes shipping to the US only.
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
Just like other subscription boxes, when I signed up for Rocksbox I had to set up a style profile that asked me questions like my metal preference, and which necklace, earring, bracelet, and ring styles I liked the most.
Let's check out this month's delivery!
What I Received
Perry Street Sophia Hoops - Retail Value $60, Member Price $51
About this item: I rented (and purchased) these earrings in the past with clear crystals, and they're the ones I recently broke. These gold-tone hoop earrings are 1" in diameter, so they're the perfect size for an evening out and everyday wear too. Designed in an artful zigzag pattern, the black crystals almost look like diamonds, and they're lightweight too!
Condition: Like new.
Review: I guess my tastes have changed a bit since I started reviewing for Rocksbox and I didn't get as much wear out of them. They're pretty and classic, but this isn't the pair I purchased.
Kendra Scott Maya Hoop Earrings - Retail Price $120, Member Price $120
About this item: Do these earrings look familiar? I rented them back in October and oops, I did it again! The Maya Hoop earrings are crafted in 14k gold over brass mesh-metal detailing. Featuring an ear post closure, these stunners are about 1.5" in diameter, and they are HEAVY! This set is also available in a gold/silver combo.
Condition: Great, though one might've been slightly stretched out.
Review: While these earrings were brand new when I first rented them, they've now been worn many times by many different people and the price is still the same. Hmm. Still not buying them!
Kate Spade Candy Shop Stone Hoops - Retail Value $78, Member Price $78
About this item: While I really wish they were made of real diamonds; these Kate Spade hoops are pretty and stylish. They're just about an inch long and .28" wide, crafted of 18k gold-plated brass with prong-set crystals in different sizes. They're textural and shiny, and a bit heavy, with a snap-post closure.
Condition: Excellent.
Review: I liked them so much, I bought them. The discount was great and they were just what I needed for now.
The Verdict
So, last time I talked about how I needed new hoops, and I finally got the Kate Spade Candy Shop Hoops since Rocksbox was having a sale. I couldn't find them for less online, BUT I think I bent the snap-post because it's not closing properly. Sigh.
Value Breakdown: I could've added the other two hoops, but I didn't love them enough.
Rocksbox membership costs $21 per month. At retail, the three pieces would cost me $249. With my Rocksbox discounts and the member pricing including the buy-all-two-items $10 discount, the $10 Forever Credit, the $21 of Shine Credit (the membership fee for the month, which goes towards your purchases), and my Rose Gold Rewards discount of $8.55 the total price for the two remaining items goes down to $131.45 which isn't bad.
