This month included an activity sheet and a welcome sheet introducing this month's contents. This month's activity is "Baby's Family Book." It recommends making a family book for your child to look at and talk about each member of the family.
What's Inside This Box
Dad By My Side by Soosh – Retail value $7.99
I've reviewed this book in the past, and it is just as adorable as it was the first time around. Here is what I had to say about it then:
Oh, I just cannot get enough of this book's illustrations. It is beyond cute and illustrates what every little girl or boy wants from her daddy: his presence. Dad's body type compared to this tiny baby girl is comical, yet so realistic. I love how this book brings to life the kind of activities a father-daughter duo might do to bond, and the moral of the story is that dad is always there. This would have been the perfect book to help celebrate Father's Day or a birthday.
I Can See You by Rosemarie Avrana Meyok - Retail Value $13.95
Each page begins with "My little sweetheart", something I say to my babies all the time. This book is beautifully illustrated, and it covers all of the senses for a little one who is learning and exploring them for the first time. I like to pause after each page to show Win my eyes seeing her, my nose sniffing here, etc. She gets a kick out of it and sometimes mimics me; it's all a great leaning tool, and it's also a pleasure to flip through the colorful pages illustrating these actions at the same time.
Discussion Questions
Little Feminist Book Club includes discussion questions for each book every month. Each card follows the book's themes and provides questions to discuss with your little reader about their reading experience and other topics to consider. This month's topics are connection and care, and the two books sent this month really portray those themes. Kids learn first from their parents, especially how to connect and care for others. Reading these selections gives kids great examples on each theme.
The Verdict
Little Feminist Book Club sends out the cutest books. Dad By My Side is so sweet, it makes me tear up when I see the cute illustrations and then witness sweet similar scenes here between Ryan and Winnie. When I read I Can See You, it becomes an interactive experience which makes reading this book even more enjoyable.
After shipping, this subscription adds up to $25.90 a month; if you don't mind paying the price for excellent curation and content, then this subscription may be worth your investment. The subscription holds a value that doesn't always monetarily meet its cost, but I appreciate the service.
