Allure Beauty Box is a $25 monthly beauty subscription from Allure Magazine. Each month they send out a mix of deluxe and full-size samples from mostly high-end brands. (It was named one of the best beauty subscription boxes by MSA readers in the 2023 Subscription Box Awards.)
This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out our editorial guidelines to learn more about how we review boxes.)
First Impression
The box arrives beautifully packaged in the classic Allure white and red box. There was also a helpful mini-magazine with more info on the products and a note from Allure's deputy beauty director Elizabeth Siegel.
New subscribers in the month of June received a polish from Static Nails.
What's Inside the August 2023 Allure Beauty Box
Tula Skincare Protect + Glow SPF30, 1.7 oz - Retail Value $38
This used to be one of my favorite sunscreens! I can’t use it now because of an allergy, but before I realized what my allergies triggers were I went through two tubes. This is a lightweight sunscreen that adds hydration and a bit of a glow to your skin, but the glow is more natural (less intense than Supergoop Glow Screen, for example). It rubs in so easily with no white cast and doesn’t feel heavy on the skin. Even though I won’t be using this myself, I’m really excited to pass this along to a friend because I know how nicely it works.
Laritzy Cosmetics Lip Gloss In Curve, Full size! Retail Value $16
Laritzy is a brand that never really excites me when I see it appear in subscription boxes, but this lip gloss actually surprised me. It’s a full-coverage gloss but doesn’t feel too heavy on my lips, and I like the mauve-pink shade and how it looks on my skin (it’s giving ~Barbie~ vibes).
Here it is swatched.
Laruce Three Piece Editor Brush Set - Estimated Value $24 (linked to a similar brush set)
I thought this brush set looked familiar, and after some poking around I was able to realize why- this same brush set came in an Allure June 2021 box. I am not in love with getting a repeat product two years later, but I will say I actually like these Laruce brushes. They’re not my favorite or best performing, but they’re sturdy and do a good job. The set features a concealer, short shadow, and angled shadow brush, and I like how the handles are textured because it makes it a lot easier to hold in my hand.
Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray, 1.7 oz - Retail Value $12
I can’t get much use out of this spray because I rarely (never) heat style my hair and you use a blow dryer on damp hair to activate the super shine, frizz-free properties of this spray (it's described as a mini keratin treatment!). I have used this before, though, when I tested it out for a different review, and I did notice an increase in shine and a slight decrease in frizz, so I think this product does what it says it will do- which sounds awesome if you regularly blow dry your hair!
Anne Klein Love, Anne Eau de Parfum, 1.5 mL - Estimated Value $1.13 (buy the 3.4 oz version for $75)
This was a sponsored sample in the box. I am always down to try perfumes, and this one has notes of vanilla and golden amber with hints of mandarin and passion fruit. It’s a light scent that’s balanced nicely between warmth and crispness, and it smells nice. I wouldn’t call this a remarkable perfume, but it’s pleasant and I imagine most people would either like it or be neutral towards it.
Belif Aqua Bomb Hyalucid 11% Serum, 5 mL - Estimated Value $10.67 (Buy the 15 mL version for $32)
I am a big fan of Belif products, and I had no idea they released a new serum so I’m happy it appeared in our monthly box. Hyalucid is a blend of 5 different hyaluronic acids along with ferulic acid, and this serum has 11% of it. Along with that hydrating star this also has ceramides, glycerin, and Lady’s Mantle. I like how this serum is hydrating while still being very lightweight, and it absorbed quickly into my skin.
Banila Co Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original, 7 mL - Estimated Value $1.96 (buy the 25 mL version for $7)
I think this is one of the better cleansing balms you can get without spending a ton of money (the full-size retails for $19). I love cleansing balms for helping me to remove sunscreen, makeup, and anything else that may be on my face, and I like to always follow up with a second cleanse (typically with a foam or gel cleanser). When you scoop it out of the jar and rub it between your hands it starts to melt easily, and then I massage it into my skin to break up all the grime. Some cleansing balms will leave a waxy residue when I rinse it away, but that’s not a problem with this one.

Key Takeaways
The August Allure Beauty Box was a good box, but it didn't feel quite as spectacular as the July or June boxes. I really am genuinely excited about being able to pass along the Tula sunscreen to a friend- I love sharing skincare, especially when it may convert someone into becoming a daily sunscreen wearer! I enjoyed being able to try the new Belif serum and am always happy to have a travel-sized Banila cleansing balm ready for my next adventure. Value-wise, Allure promises a monthly value of at least $100, and everything in the box added up to $103.76.
