BomiBox K-Beauty Review: “Elixir” August 2023

I love when we receive products in our Bomibox that are available at SokoGlam! This hyaluronic acid serum is 100% pure sodium hyaluronate, which has a smaller molecular weight than hyaluronic acid so your skin can absorb it easier. It’s literally like a tall drink of water for your skin, and it is the perfect follow-up serum after applying the Round Lab toner that came in this month’s box.

SKIN1004 Madagascar Blue Serum, 30 mL - Retail Value $14

I haven’t been disappointed in the SKIN1004 brand yet- they focus on Madagascan Centella Asiatica as the star ingredients (which my skin loves), and this serum pairs that with Hyaluronic acid at five different molecular weights. This serum has a thicker texture compared to the one by The Plant Base, and the dropper honestly doesn’t do the best job of sucking it out of the bottle.

A’pieu Honey & Milk Lip Oil, 5 g - Retail Value $6.10

I really like the A’pieu brand, and I am always down to try a new lip oil. Right off the bat I noticed the oversized doe foot applicator that made applying this to my lips a breeze, and I really quite liked it. It’s made with honey and milk protein to nourish your lips and form a protective moisture barrier, and I like how it gives a glossy finish. I do think it’s a tad thicker than your typical lip oil, but that doesn’t bother me.

Petitfee Aura Quartz Hydrogel Eye Zone Mask - Retail Value $3.50

I love eye masks like these- they make me feel like I’m putting on my superhero mask when I am applying it, and it also covers more skin than your standard eye mask which is never a bad thing to me. It is made of a cooling hydrogel material that feels amazing on tired or stressed eyes, and I like that it’s infused with a thick essence so I don’t have to worry about it dripping into my eyes. I would love to see more eye masks like this appear in a future Bomibox, it was a real treat.

FarmStay Real Blueberry Essence Mask and FarmStay Real Oatmeal Essence Mask - Retail Value $1.50 each

These sheet masks were perfect for applying once I had stepped out of a hot shower or bath- the material was soft and had a good stretch which made for a good, comfortable fit on my face, and they were infused with enough essence to hydrate my skin but not so much it was dripping down my neck. Typically sheet masks that are this affordable are made of a more thick mask material that doesn’t hug the curves of your face, so I was a bit surprised when I saw they were available for $1.50 apiece.

I thought this month's BomiBox subscription was a good box, but it did feel like it was missing the addition of one more item. I really liked that this month's box seemed to be centered around the hydrating elixir that is hyaluronic acid and that the toner and two serums can be used in the same routine. From a numbers perspective, the box value is on the low side, but I do think there is value to be found in the curation behind the box.

I also think it is important to keep in mind that the values need to be taken with a grain of salt, because I have to get the values from websites that ship directly from Korea and they can vary wildly (and then you have to wait for international shipping). I've been reviewing BomiBox for years, and I definitely recommend this subscription if you're a fan of Korean skincare. If you're looking for a monthly beauty box comprised exclusively of K-Beauty products, BomiBox is one of the best out there.
