First Impressions

This month included an activity sheet and a welcome sheet introducing this month's contents. This month's activity is "Practice Consent." Little Feminist included examples of how you can model and encourage practicing consent with your little one.

What's Inside This Box

Will Ladybug Hug? by Hilary Leung – Retail Value $7.99

Ladybug loves a good hug, but not everyone wants that kind of interaction. This book illustrates what consent and boundaries look like for a variety of individuals, but most importantly, it tells kids that it is okay to have these boundaries. All of the animals embrace each others boundaries, and they are respectful of them. Ladybug won't hug without consent, and that's a fabulous message for everyone.

This Is My Body I Get To Choose by Brooke Sitgraves Turner – Retail Value $15.99

I think the lesson of owning your body and being in control of it is the most important thing you can teach your kids. I was afraid of bringing children into today's world, but messages like this make me feel confident that despite the times, I can teach my babies to advocate for themselves and survive and thrive knowing that their comfort is of the utmost importance.

Discussion Questions

Little Feminist Book Club includes discussion questions for each book every month. Each card follows the book's themes and provides questions to discuss with your little reader about their reading experience and other topics to consider. This month's topics are consent and my body.

The Verdict

Little Feminist Book Club always provides us with books that help us slow down and appreciate all of our babies' new phases and processes. Consent and setting boundaries are two themes this month that are crucial to teach the kiddos. The books Little Feminist chose to introduce these topics in a way that can be fun and easy for the kids to understand.

After shipping, this subscription adds up to $26.90 a month; if you don't mind paying the price for excellent curation and content, then this subscription may be worth your investment. The subscription holds a value that doesn't always monetarily meet its cost, but I appreciate the service.

I’m a self-proclaimed “cool mom” who loves a little, who am I kidding, a lot of razzle-dazzle. I have been box-obsessed for over 10 years, and I am always on the hunt for new beauty, fun flair and trendy clothing boxes. A fun night for me includes an exfoliating foot mask and a bag of Dot's Pretzels while binging Rupaul’s Drag Race.
