First Impressions

Everything arrived packed neatly in the pink BoxyCharm by Ipsy box.

Now, on to the items!

ACE BEAUTE 4 Piece Eye Brush Set – Retail Value $26

I really needed some new makeup brushes, so I knew that I needed to select these when my October options came through. The brushes are synthetic so there has been some bristles falling out, but nothing major or alarming. Overall the bristles are super soft and are holding together nicely, which allows me to apply and blend my makeup really well. Is it weird that I sort of hate that they are orange, though? Most of my brushes have black or pink handles, so these are sort of sticking out on my makeup area, which is bothering me a bit. Small problems though, and I'm really happy to have a new set of brushes that work really well.

teeez Battle Prep Smoothing Face Primer, 1.18 fl oz - Retail Value $39

I'm obsessed with this primer. It feels really lightweight, it doesn't dry my skin out, and it doesn't leave that matte texture that I don't love. The great thing about this primer is that it is creamy and doubles hydration, creating a glowing base to prep your skin for your makeup application. This formula is made with passion flower, glycerine, shea butter, and vitamin E. Since I do use a dewy foundation, I've found that this primer is almost a must, because it creates a clean base that allows my makeup to go on smoothly. Not only that, but it really does create an extra hydrated glow while allowing my makeup to last throughout the day. This is a huge win, because that means I'm not having to do many touch-ups throughout the day.

TULA SKINCARE So Pumpkin Exfoliating Sugar Scrub, 2.9 oz – Retail Value $36

This is a limited edition collaboration between Tula and Shawn Johnson - very cool! This scrub is great for fall with its pumpkin spice scent. The scrub is designed to melt away excess oil, buildup, and debris without stripping your skin. It's main ingredients are pumpkin, fruit enzymes, sugar, and probiotic extracts.

I'll be honest, this scrub felt way too harsh to use on my face, which was really surprising since it says that this is gentle on skin and can be used 2 - 4 times a week. I applied this to my skin and started massaging it in, and had to stop almost immediately because it was so painful and I had instant burning. It really feels like a scrub that I would use on my hands and feet, which is probably what I am going to use this for now. This scrub really does smell amazing! I love pumpkin spice so it is perfect for me, and I love the results when I used it on my feet and hands. But this is not something I will be using on my very sensitive face.

WANDER BEAUTY Riviera Blush & Bronzer Palette – Retail Value $38

This was a limited edition palette to help give you a coastal, sun-kissed glow. Each color provides warmth, depth, and adds a bit of a glow to your skin. These shades seem to blend well, but they are really deep and powerful so a little can really go a long way. I wasn't loving the highlighter along with the blush because it they didn't work well together, and added a two layer shade that also felt a tad too dark for me. However, I am going to keep wearing it and testing my application because I do really like the blush and the highlighter, and I even used some of the bronzer to contour a bit, which I normally never do. It is always fun to play around with my makeup on days when I have the time and energy, so having a palette like this with fun shades that I can easily work with is always exciting for me!

HERBIVORE Lapis Blue Tansy Face Oil, 50 mL – Retail Value $74

I am obsessed with this facial oil! Everything from the packaging to the bottle, to the the color, the scent, and especially what it is doing for my skin! My skin is extremely dry, so I can use this oil and the one below all together and my skin will look amazing. I can see this product being too much for someone with already oily skin or acne-prone skin. This oil is given its name for the precious blue oil it contains, Blue Tansy. It also has Azulene components, which help to soothe dry skin and reduce redness, while leaving the skin feeling balanced.

I have been using this as the last step in my am and pm skincare routine and I can just feel the moisture it is adding to my skin. It is the kind of oil that doesn't just sit on my skin, it drinks it right in and I can feel the hydrating benefits and can see the glow. My makeup is going on so smoothly and I just feel overall better with how my skin is looking since I started using this facial oil. Luckily it is a big bottle so hopefully I can make it last!

EARTH HARBOR CALYPSO Vitamin C Moisture Elixir, 30 mL – Retail Value $44

Earth Harbor is a brand that I have come to really love! Every time I see something from them I know I have to try it. I've even repurchased some of their products that I fell in love with over the years from other beauty boxes. This vitamin C elixir is right up there with some of my favorite products that I have used from them! It is made with Sea Berry Vitamin C, chia seed fatty acids, cranberry phytosterols, and antioxidants. It has moisture-locking botanicals that will give your skin a healthy glow.

A little of this elixir does go a long way, so I've been using about two drops twice a day, and am loving how it makes my skin feel. We are hitting the cold weather where I live, so I know my dry skin is going to really become a problem. Hopefully with this elixir and my new facial oil, I can maintain my glow all winter!

Verdict

This BoxyCharm Beauty Boost by Ipsy was a hydrating hit for me! The total retail value came in at $257, which is really amazing for the cost. The facial oil and elixir were the stars this month, and are the items that make me really see the value in adding that 6th product to your box. The primer was an item that I was excited to try, and even happier that I love it so much. Three products all focused around glowing skin? Count me in!

While I wasn't blown away by the scrub, I am still able to find other ways to make it work for me. The brushes were a nice little addition, but didn't really add a ton of value or excitement for me. That is what is nice about this box, though. I can sort of get some showstoppers and replenish my makeup bag with essentials that I wouldn't normally buy for myself, even though I needed them. Overall, I am really excited with this month's beauty boost! What products did you pick this month?

The stinging from the Tula could be the pumpkin. I find that pumpkin products sting my skin like crazy. I can’t use the PTR pumpkin mask at all it stings so much.

So what is the boost item? Strange too they have the same person reviewing the boxy box, no offense.

Then boost item is the Herbivore Lapis oil. I received this as well. I’ve used this before and it’s a great dupe for Sunday Riley Luna. So definitely worth it for me.
